Yes, women used to look older .women now have longer hair wear what they want dye their hair etc etc.

I have a photo of my Gran in her 50s and she looks like a little old lady with her shampoo and set and pinny over her clothes.

Mrsjayy · 27/05/2023 10:25

Oh I pinny is what we called an apron*

the80sweregreat · 27/05/2023 10:39

Lou was the matriarch character.
I remember Kathy saying once ' she's holding court ' ! My late mil was a bit like Lou Beale.
Very opinionated

Mrsjayy · 27/05/2023 10:58

Oh mine too @the80sweregreat she was formidable!

Short for pinafore. I thought that was a common term. I remember it being used a lot. There seemed to be women who always wore it!

I always clarify words just in case it's a local or me word 😃

CherryCokeFanatic · 27/05/2023 15:22

Lily mentioned boys clubbing together to get a subscription? How I don’t know was surely you need a credit card (and hence be over 18) to sign up.

Anyway, who’s to bet whoever it is saying they want a live video chat with her, is the group of lads and this will get her into more dramas with the school and maybe social services?

AutumnalLeaves38 · 27/05/2023 16:16

Sad to say Shrimpy's gone down in my estimation, for gossiping with the traders and smirking at Stacey right in front of her.

He won't be hearing an affectionate "Can you mind my stall, Shrimpy?" from Whitney anytime soon, that's for sure!
(Whitney's been on brilliant form for loyally having her friends' backs. Loudly calling out those market blokes, especially).

Oh, Shrimpy, please redeem yourself by seeing the error of your ways.

I've always had a soft spot for him and his trilby/Mod style/the odd glimpse we get of his piano playing.

I always hoped he'd get more of a storyline and increased speech. I like to imagine he and TraceyBarmaid have quietly been enjoying a sizzling fling, causing her to relegate Phil Mitchell to "2nd best sex I've ever had"...

😆

the80sweregreat · 27/05/2023 16:29

Shrimpy is the type to 'run with the crowd 'i think. It is sad to see, but people are disappointing and he isn't seeing behind the reasons why Stacey did what she did, just listening to the gossip about her.
I'm glad Whitney was supportive.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/05/2023 22:01

Finally seen Thursdays while sunbathing round the pool 😂

And Freddie's ADHD is really being pushed

It will prove that he is then disapeer like Ollie's autism and hopes heart condition

And didn't kush kid have something or was it his heart

Maybe Hope was prem they chose her name to give Hope

Lola will def die soon. Possibly next week while I'm still away but the joy of iPlayer 😂

Lexi on the bed talking about her taster day did make my nose tingle a bit

She is turning into a good actress for one so little

Your holiday sounds lovely blonds.
It was Arthur who inherited Kush's heart problem. We haven't seen him or Hope for a while ( maybe one morning briefly round the kitchen table ? )

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 29/05/2023 16:08

yeah I think I remember Hope was early. Also there was the thing where Stacey had post partum psychosis after Arthur and then was really worried that the same would happen with Hope

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/05/2023 17:55

It's bliss @the80sweregrea Much needed after my year

Billy looks and behaves like a Staffordshire bull terrier with an angry wasp in each ear.

Jellykat · 29/05/2023 19:58

This Lola end of life bit is bringing back really painful memories, with a friend of mine..
Its bloody heartbreaking, but i will say they're doing it so realistically Sad
I know the majority of us are, and will be in tears this week...

Nish !!!!!! bastard !!!!!

Yes Nish really his a heartless bustard indeed.

It's not so long ago his own grandson was close to losing his dad (to prison rather than death, but still). Short memory!

AutumnalLeaves38 · 29/05/2023 20:08

Hands up who else was hoping Jack would punch Nish-the-arse?

I thought Phil might actually, but Jack did look like he wanted to. Nish is a master provoker.

the80sweregreat · 29/05/2023 20:10

Nish was out of order , but I guess it'll be Billy in custody now and he'll miss Lola's last days :(
I was willing him to put that weapon down and ignore them both and be the bigger man, but he couldn't. He needed to rise above it all.
Poor Lola though , it's been brutal :(
Jay seems the only one who is being pragmatic and handling it, for now anyway
I know it's only acting , but it made me cry and this week will be hard. I feel sad for anyone who has recently gone through this. I know I wouldn't be able to watch.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 29/05/2023 20:10

Blondes, I'm in no way envious of your holiday.

Not. At. All.
<mutters>

AutumnalLeaves38 · 29/05/2023 20:12

@Jellykat
I'm sorry for your loss x

AutumnalLeaves38 · 29/05/2023 20:23

Honey looked as shocked as me when Phil offered her the tea and actually asked her how she was.

And his wobbly bottom lip and teary eyes of regret were unexpected.

Definitely showing his compassionate streak again. Would like to think Lola's situation will make him re-evaluate his life priorities, but old habits die hard.

Honey's right: he has treated Billy badly over the past year. Time to make amends.
No doubt he'll also now be speed-dialling Ritchie the multipurpose solicitor...

the80sweregreat · 29/05/2023 20:28

I don't recall Phil being horrible to Billy , but my memory of the various storylines are not what they once were ! I know his been spiky with Honey on and off , but she stands up to him and tells him his fortune. Which is amazing as he doesn't like this from people.
Why has he been like it with Billy?

Jellykat · 29/05/2023 20:30

AutumnalLeaves38 · 29/05/2023 20:12

@Jellykat
I'm sorry for your loss x

Bless you, it was a few years ago, but the sitting by the bedside bit is bringing it all back.. so many people experience it in their lives Sad

I really hope Billy doesnt get banged up!! hopefully some compassionate something will kick in.

I thought Phil was going to cry earlier, he defo welled up at the table so he has a heart somewhere!

the80sweregreat · 29/05/2023 20:31

Phil does have a heart. It's hidden away , but it's there now and again. He is definitely an enigma
William was so lovely saying thank you to Kat for having them over. His a nice lad
