What did Eve say to Bernie (something about seling her baby) , I missed it

It's obviously being set up so that Ben misses saying goodbye to Lola - she'll die whilst he's off in America trying to save her and then Ben will become more angry and more damaged than ever.

Bernie made a nasty joke about Stacey selling her body so Eve zapped back with a sharp pointed baby selling remark.
It's annoying me that they are changing Bernies personality, she wouldn't mock Stacey.

Has Ben got no common sense at all? This part of the storyline is driving me crazy. I didn’t catch that he was actually flying off to America to speak to a dr but I also now think that Lola will die while he is out of the country. Which bit of a few weeks to live is he incapable of understanding? Also what was he planning on doing? Abducting a seriously ill Lola and flying her away

Ben is being ridiculous and it would cost a fortune ( as pointed out by the consultant)
I hope he gets back in time for Lola as he is Lexi's dad.
Why he couldn't do this over zoom / phone I've no idea though.

A large part is also Ben trying to cover his arse, having stupidly promised Lexi her Mum would make it to her first day at new school.

Wants to be seen as the big saviour hero, but hasn't been in their household enough to witness the hour-to-hour reality of Lola's decline. And how it's crucifying the whole family.

He's so afraid to show vulnerability (well done, Phil, for drumming the macho shit into him), and only ever apologises after he's called out on acting without thinking first.
Whereas if he was more humble and respectful of others, he'd not be so unpopular and isolated in the first place. (Though we'd be deprived of a hate figure!)

It'll be interesting to see how his bulimia storyline plays out with the audience. Really hope sensitively handled, and generates sympathy and understanding, despite his arsehole twattery.

Dealing with rape trauma (and the rapist recently being charged with repeat crime, so back on his radar)/ losing Lola/ anxiety over Lexi's welfare/ always trying to prove his worth to Phil... massive life events and pressure.

Whenever I begin to feel for him, though, he yet again turns vicious and horrendous. He's definitely on Mission Self-Destruct.
Hope he seeks professional help soon.

Why would Ben even be allowed access to Lola's Oncologist? (And within so few hours of phoning her...yeah, right, that happens on the NHS!!).

The behavior therapist wouldn't just come to a public place like the chicken shop to see Freddie. Even if she did point out he'd need to see her properly.

Kathy looks even more glamorous these days than she did back then ! She has grown older but somehow better.

But even if Freddie gets his diagnosis what help will he get? I didn't think his so called problem bothered him at all. He seemed to me just sweetly eccentric and with some self esteem issues. It's the others who want to put a labell on him.

The teacher seems keen to help Freddie! Maybe he just feels bad. Or an ulterior motive there?

I’m puzzled by Ben going to the USA. Why would they need to see him in person? Surely it’s Lola they’d need to see before agreeing to anything? It doesn’t make sense.

I'm wondering if the actor playing Ben needed time off and they have written him out this way ? It's only a musing though. None of it makes any sense regarding taking her to the US at this stage of her illness.

I’m still reeling from the revelation that Kathy is 12 months younger than what Lou was when she died!

I've just caught up with this week's episodes. The final scene yesterday with Lexi being so brave knowing her mum wouldn't be there to see her taster day, just heart-breaking. Callum wanted to know why Ben had to go to America and he said something about having to see them in person which seemed very odd.

Does anyone have any thoughts about what's going on with Reiss and his wife Debbie? Last week at the quiz, Sonia seemed miffed that he wanted to see Debbie without taking her with him.

I agree, she’s usually very emphatic so it was completely out of character (I did laugh at Eve’s retort about her being a womb for rent😭) Similarly when Zack revealed his HIV status and Karen started shouting the odds in the pub, making awful comments. She is loud and inappropriate at times but not cruel so another personality transplant.

Women like Lou Beale in those days always looked older than their years as often they didn't tend to have any beauty treatments or money for nicer clothes , tooth whitening products, a set way of doing their hair and so on. She was always more on the frumpy side I suppose.
Kathy is much more modern and kept herself in trim , has her hair hi lighted and so on. It all helps as means we can't tell her age and she is aging well and in good health.
