I agree
Keanu could sell his leather jacket on ' vinted' or look on the indeed job site for a mechanic job, or tell Sharon he can't afford it just now, or do anything rather than work for dodgy Ravi !
There are options here
His being a bit desperate.

Alas poor Ken wouldn't get much money for his jacket - DH spotted last night it was the same one he bought quite recently definitely not a mid-life crisis purchase and declared he can't ever wear it again now (not real leather and cost about £60 I think), how I kept a straight face I don't know Wink Grin

the80sweregreat · 27/04/2023 10:14

Do you pay a fee for the church at a christening as you do for weddings? I can imagine it's not a huge amount anyway.
They could just do this and skip any food or drinks afterwards to save money

buggeringbuggery · 27/04/2023 11:03

I'm no expert in adoption, so happy to be corrected, but I do find the idea odd.

My friend's husband adopted her daughter, and she also had to adopt her own daughter (not sure why, but I remember her going through it). They also needed lots of visits from SS and it took a few months between SS visits and actually applying to the court.

Also the adoption removed all rights from the natural father. I'm not sure how Ben will still have 'father' status, as Jay adopting Lexi will supersede this.

The only thing that would make sense would be adding Jay as a guardian/formally giving him parental rights. Even a special guardianship order would place him above Ben.

I know Ritchie said something about private adoption, I'm not sure how that works.

qazxc · 27/04/2023 11:13

If Ben has an ED, I can imagine that Phil is going to be a right twat about it.
He probably will see an ED as something that only affects women. Ben having an ED will therefore make him more feminine (in his eyes) and less of a man. Which of course will be a source of disappointment to Phil who wants himself and his son to be seen as hard, macho, "real men".

qazxc · 27/04/2023 11:21

The adoption thing is odd.
It arrived all of a sudden.
Realistically even if everyone agreed, wouldn't it take more than 8 weeks? (she said she had 2 months if she was lucky)
Would SS not need to be involved? Would a man who has been married to her mother for about 3 months and has a sexual offence involving an underage girl not raise red flags with them?

Similarly, a couple of years ago, I bought a coat from Sainsbury's, tan/beige colour, hooded, bit of length to it, with some nice embroidery on one of the sleeves... Who pops up wearing it? Sonia.

the80sweregreat · 27/04/2023 11:22

I don't like Ben much, but I sort of understand his anger at first as he is Lexi's dad and probably doesn't understand what's involved as most people wouldn't. He felt pushed out a bit I suppose and just reacted badly. Which doesn't help lola :(
I also felt sorry for Jay saying he was always ' the outsider '. That makes sense as it's always about family with Phil and Jay isn't Ben's brother or a relation ( as he pointed out)
Complex situation and Ben is always very reactionary in his approach.
I can imagine adopting a child under any circumstances isn't easy and a lot of paperwork and under such sad times too

DickingAboutWithAubergines · 27/04/2023 13:01

I don't post often but have they forgotten that Lola has a Grade 4 glioblastoma. My mum died from one and she was not mooching about here and there 2 months before. I know Lola is young and it's a soap but they started off so well with the storyline.

I really don't like Keanu, just seems a bit dolly dimple.

Love Chelsea. The kids are good little actors, especially Amy (not so much Nugget but he's not as bad as he was). I like Ravi as a character too when he's not being a hard man. And I miss Sam, I really started to warm to her when she supported Zach so well. Loved her handbag.

Back to lurking. Smile

Mrsjayy · 27/04/2023 13:25

They will have Lola fine fine fine then her last week she will go down rapidly!

I'm sorry to read about your mum @DickingAboutWithAubergines seeing Lola skip about with her hairband for reference must be frustrating.

@DickingAboutWithAubergines,

I'm so sorry you lost your Mum in that way. Very distressing, and hard to watch happen.

Yes Ben's eating disorder will just add to Phils disappointment.

Maybe Ravi's hung like a donkey....

the80sweregreat · 27/04/2023 13:31

I agree that Lola's sad demise will be shown over just a few days I suppose.
I hope that the Brannings go to family therapy together as it might show them a different way rather than just shouting at each other.
The young teens are good in this ; they just looked so depressed last night walking up to get the bus to school! I like Denzil and Amy
Nugget redeemed himself with the HIV knowledge, but his still a bit of a plank occasionally.

Agree totally.

Meant to mention bens ed - sure many missed it but should have heard him Being sick

Rather than Just looking flushed and sweaty

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 27/04/2023 13:52

I think the flushed and sweaty is just a build up. The actor looked a bit podgy a few months ago now he is looking slimmer I wonder if he put on/took off weight intentionally?

AutumnalLeaves38 · 27/04/2023 14:38

Or that he has been vomiting so regularly that it's become an easy process for him, with none of the usual sounds etc.?

Mrsjayy · 27/04/2023 14:48

Yes I meant we haven't seen the full extent of the Ed yet.

Mrsjayy · 27/04/2023 14:49

On screen*

MillieMollieMandy1 · 27/04/2023 14:57

On the subject of clothes..I have Sonia's jumper that is grey with a pattern of bluebirds over it. Aggie Bailey on Coronation Street wears it too.

Do you think that all of Zacs jackets are that weird padded look?
