This series is continuing to be one of the best , I think Mae will begin to grate a bit eventually . Ivo and Frankie are excellent paired up for the team tasks .

Absolutely loving the pairing of Ivo and Frankie for the team tasks. They’re the funniest team ever .

Ivo ran the London marathon this year; 2 hours 59 minutes so not shabby! He always seems to have lots of energy ( apart from when he’s sitting in the non shed caravan ) 😃

Imaginary friend task last night was great.

Someone upthread mentioned a controversial event in an upcoming episode, was it whether Frankie's gold shoes were indeed yellow? I also took the not touch the grass to mean just the artificial stuff.

I thought Frankie's shoes were fine; he was in the spirit of the task and it was a creative enough way of doing it.

I am not keen on the way the scoring works in this series, though, too many opportunities for all-or-nothing tasks and that really messes with the overall standings. The occasional 'be the slowest' task is OK, but it didn't really seem to work well in this one, maybe because most of the contestants didn't really seem to take that part in and were all just focused on getting the task done somehow. It was maybe too difficult a task already to have the timing element be part of it too.

I'm liking Mae less and less somehow, though I can't pinpoint quite why.

I thought Ivo's imaginary friend was good because it was different from all the others and I think he should have won. Funny how they all interpreted poignant the same way. I thought some of them might have conversations with the friend about being lonely or the friend doing something really sweet or whatever. Their interpretation didn't really occur to me! As a result of them all choosing almost the same thing, it was all about the acting etc in the end, rather than the conversation or the concept of it being poignant.

Jenny is just a bit to wacky try-hard in her acting, though I do like her.

I'm slowly catching up so an episode behind but the spoon task was epic.

@Bimbleberries , I’m also going off Mae , she’s really grating on me and I think it’s because I find the ‘niceness’ a bit fake

I’ve not warmed to Mae at all, from the off. I’m really hoping she doesn’t win overall as it means we’ll see her again in Champion of Champions. I’d be as aggrieved at that, as I was with Lou Sanders.

I’d happily see any of the other 4 again though - all very different obviously, but great to watch.

I’ve gone off Mae at this point, enjoying the other four. Also enjoying the podcast thanks for the recommendation.

Is it just me, but I though Mae put her non-gold shoe down on the grass too, though it was seconds after she rang the bell so perhaps wasn’t counted?

definitely too many all or nothing scores, and it’s really messing with the series score. A couple of weeks ago, there was 15 points (ish, I think) separating top and bottom of the series scores. After the last two weeks of doubling scores/all or nothing tasks, there’s about 30 points separating top and bottom, making it look like the winner will be from the current top 2 (unless more random scoring happens over the next few episodes). It doesn’t feel like proper scoring - it’s always been mostly scored 1-5, with the odd bonus point. This series it’s all over the place, and feels like manipulation of the results rather than anything done for effort/outcome of task etc.

I agree the scoring has been erratic this series and seems unfair to Ivo especially!

I think what gets me about Mae is that they're just not funny, at all. Competent at most things, but doesn't seem to have the good humoured nature or the funny jokes to go with it, just a bit smug. And yet nothing really dislikeable about her exactly. Others have been on who weren't comedians, who were actresses or presenters or whatever, and they weren't making one-liners all the time either, but there was something more natural about them, whereas Mae seems all 'act', and not a funny one. She's good at stuff, though. And lucky. And seems to get a lot of good points decisions thrown their way. Hadn't thought about the possiblity of her being in C of C, that would be dire.

The scoring is really changing this series, which is a shame. Doesn't feel like the good people are going to necessarily get much of a chance overall, and the ones scoring low aren't necessarily bad.

I said exactly that - Ivo was the only one who really "got" poignancy, the rest were just melodramatic!

I had wondered if the scoring results going their way was something to do with them being the first non binary contestant , I hope not but that is how it seems . Ivo should definitely have won the imaginary friend task .

Oh I REALLY hope not. She’s a woman, and many women have won before - 3 already in for the next COC. If they’re going to deliberately swing it on anything other than actual performance in the tasks, Sophie Duker is the only black contestant so far to have won. So give it to Kiell (also, I do love watching Kiell in this, so that’s the main reason).
