I know he's controversial but I do love Frankie Boyle...

We went a few years ago. If you do get tickets, make sure you get there early! Tickets don't guarantee entry and they overbook. We got there for the time they told us to and we couldn't get in. Luckily they film 2 episodes a day so we managed to get tickets for the later show and we got in.

I know! I went to a screening of this current series and got in by the skin of my teeth 👍

tootiredtobother · 16/04/2023 08:08

ooh this is interesting - to those who have got into a filming session, how long do they generally take. does the audience get a break at anytime (loo) etc
where do they film, i did read up thread but cant find it now - Twickenham ???
all info greatly received

It took a few hours for us as they did the intros/links etc at the end if they needed redoing. We didn't get up for the loo so not sure if it's even possible. We were sat at the front so it may be possible further back. It was filmed at Pinewood studios when we went.

krazipan · 16/04/2023 08:26

We didn't end up leaving until 11ish at night so it was a long day as we live in Yorkshire and had originally gone down for the afternoon filming.

tootiredtobother · 16/04/2023 08:31

thanks Krazipan that is a long day and i live much nearer than you

We had a great day. It was pre toddler so we could do stuff like that then 😂

I think one of the funniest tasks was the cement mixer one in series 13

That was the first episode I ever watched.

GMOOH2023 · 16/04/2023 09:34

@LadyOfTheCanyon

I didn't know about that one. Just subscribed. Will report back.

I tried the St Elwick's Neighbourhood one but couldn't get on with it at all

Mooserp · 16/04/2023 19:42

The one I saw filmed was about 3 hours I think. They have breaks where the ad breaks are and when they set up the live task.

I was amazed at how smoothly it all runs. It's pretty much what you see on the telly but with more studio chat.

I couldn’t stand Lou Sanders, so whiny. I wasn’t a fan of Iain Stirling either, but I’ve subsequently read that he realised partway through that he was coming across like a dick and made an active effort to change. That will always be my least favourite series though, and LS my least favourite contestant.

I didn’t originally think much of Liza Tarbuck either, but after rewatching that series she grew on me a lot and it was Russell Howard - who I used to like on Mock the Week - who I ended up thinking was a bit of a nob.

Back on the topic of this series, Jenny Eclair is hilarious - she’s basically Jo Brand if the latter had given a shit (I loved Jo on the show btw, her and David Baddiel ambling around a timed task pausing for a cuppa while the three young ‘uns run round like mad things is one of my top 5 TM moments) and I love Ivo Graham. I think this promises to be a good series for inter-contestant banter.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 17/04/2023 08:40

Yes I wasn't impressed with the Lou Sanders line up - Iain Stirling was a dick, Paul Sinha and Sian Gibson were largely unfunny ( SGs squealing at everything was really annoying) and the only redeeming contestant was Joe Thomas.

I rewatch a lot of TM but always pass that season by.

The squealing drove me up the wall.

I loved Noel Fielding as a contestant. That was a great series

Chrysanthemum5 · 17/04/2023 09:10

Mike Wozniak was my all time favourite contestant-and DH got me tickets to see his show tomorrow night!

I think knowing that Paul Sinha was competing in physical challenges with undiagnosed MS and getting occasionally mocked for his incompetence makes it an uncomfortable watch in retrospect. They weren't particularly mean to him, just treated him like every other slow and clumsy contestant. but with hindsight it feels harsh.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 17/04/2023 09:25

It's Parkinsons he suffers from, I believe. But yes, a difficult watch in retrospect.

EvilRingahBitch · 17/04/2023 09:30

Oh of course it's Parkinson's, sorry.

Chrysanthemum5 · 17/04/2023 09:41

I find the same with fern Brady last season. She is autistic and a result it takes a lot of her energy just to be around people but they just kept joking about how tired she was. I found it uncomfortable

she said on the podcast that she was tired because she didn't get much sleep, due to being so excited about filming

We're watching the Rhod Gilbert one at the moment as DS1 loves James Acaster. It's very clear that Greg and Rhod are good friends 😂

See I found that really annoying and cliquey and didn't find Rhod's "hilarious" insults of Greg in the prize task very funny at all. Each to their own I guess.

Does anyone know if they are doing a "clean" edit for kids again this series? My DS would live the potato task!

I'm enjoying it! I'm very GC but love watching Mae, they're very attractive.

Yes, I find Mae's face absolutely mesmerising. Was not aware of them before.

Floralnomad · 17/04/2023 20:08

Paul Sinha on the mobility scooter is a classic .

FitterFlapper · 21/04/2023 13:59

The standout series for us was Brand and Baddiel. Absolute genius pairing in the group tasks.
Stopping for tea and a sarnie!!

Judd · 21/04/2023 14:32

I enjoyed Mel Giedroyc as a contestant and the way she just cracks on with it.
Didn't she do an extra task nobody else did - something with an inflatable ball on a sports pitch? I remember her face when they revealed it was all for nothing!
I didn't enjoy Iain Stirling on TM or on House of Games either. It was uncomfortable watching at times, as he clearly didn't click with Gyles Brandreth and Richard Osman gave a stern "Iain" at one point after something he said.

mazylou · 21/04/2023 15:08

Mel and Hugh's scandi film is one of the favourites for me.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 21/04/2023 18:11

Joe Wilkinson's potato task has a special place in my heart.
