I know he's controversial but I do love Frankie Boyle...

I actually really enjoyed it. I am also in the minority because I loved Sam! He looked really intimated at first, but developed a great bond with Greg and was a little in awe of Julian and Sue.
As the series got on, he seemed to really enjoy himself.
The hugs at the end were really sweet!

i was sad sam one. found him annoying.

I though Sam was lovely!

DahliaMacNamara · 24/11/2023 15:40

I liked Sam. But I was less sure about the dye job.

Umanresources · 24/11/2023 17:54

I started off liking Sam at the beginning, but then felt he was coming across as very smug and then totally went off him. There is a longer version of the hotel task on YouTube but I’ve not watched it yet.

He confirmed it was a wig

DahliaMacNamara · 24/11/2023 19:08

I must have missed that. I heard him say something about the original being a bit grey, which I was kind of WTF? about.

I think he meant his overall ‘look’ was usually a bit grey, as in bland, and he was right, with his usually dull, nondescript coloured hair and actually mostly grey clothes! The orange shirt was clearly also a bid to brighten things up for the final. I liked him a lot - I love that dry, slightly weird humour he has. Sue and Susan are adorable, and I want them to do a travel documentary together, or just something where they have to cook a meal or similar together. Julian played the part he was intended for absolutely beautifully, and I thought Lucy also stuck to her usual shtick, so you got what you expected. It was a good series, all told.

SoupDragon · 24/11/2023 22:26

Why on earth do they have a child doing the New Year special? It's just wrong and changes it completely.

Anyway, not a Sam fan so disappointed that he won. Still enjoyed the series though.

PickAChew · 24/11/2023 22:58

I think Lenny will be brilliant.

Ladybrrrd · 24/11/2023 23:41

He's 14, not 4, and stars in a show which often has vulgar language - he'll be able to handle himself!

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 25/11/2023 02:35

Lenny is the only one I’m looking forward to. The others may surprise me, but I already think Lenny will be great.

CaveMum · 25/11/2023 07:25

Yes Lenny is 14 but they have very strict rules around what kids are allowed to be exposed to on set. He may have been in a show with a lot of vulgar language but that doesn’t mean he was present when it was used. They usually film one version of a scene with altered words when the child is present and in shot, then the child is removed from the room and the scene is reshot with the swear words spoken and then the versions are cut together.

When it comes to the child swearing on camera, that’s a decision for the parents.

SoupDragon · 25/11/2023 08:25

Yes, child actors are rarely there for the rude or scared bits. They are protected from that.

I don't think there should be children on adult taskmaster.

14 is still a child, I never said or implied he was 4 🙄. Lots of things are inappropriate for adults to say or do in front of teenagers and I think it will stifle it. I think children belong on Children's Taskmaster, not the adult one.

EvilRingahBitch · 25/11/2023 09:10

IIRC New Year Special one-offs tend not to be so rude anyway - the non-comedy cast just don't go there and it's a more family friendly vibe. Having said that - I can remember absolutely nothing about most of the NWTs, so I think I might spend the next few Thursdays catching up.

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 25/11/2023 09:22

I can’t see Zoe Ball, Deborah Meaden, or Steve Backshall doing anything non-14 year old friendly (not familiar with other contestant).

They very rarely get the casting wrong (but looking at you, series 8). So I reckon they’re quite happy to have the brilliant, popular Lenny in the mix.

He said it on the podcast.

All of his studio outfits had been grey until the final.

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 14/12/2023 11:33

Excellent news. I really liked Kiell in this (and didn’t warm to Mae) and hoped he’d win the series so my wish has sort of come true.

CaveMum · 14/12/2023 13:28

Looks a great line up. I imagine Dara might find Kiell's laid back style frustrating, though perhaps not as bad as John Kearns! Glad to see Morgana back too.

thebellagio · 14/12/2023 13:41

That's a great line up!

I love Kiell, and really didn't like Mae, so that's an excellent swap!

murasaki · 14/12/2023 13:43

Definitely there for that. Kiell is a great sub, and I'm intrigued as to Mae's surprises while being glad she's not there.

CorylusAgain · 14/12/2023 14:11

Looking forward to this!
Unlike most it seems, I rather liked Mae but very happy to see Kiell again.

PickAChew · 14/12/2023 14:14

Greg will be in trouble with that line up 🤣

RainbowZebraWarrior · 14/12/2023 23:13

Oh, I'm not too keen on that line up, and I'm sad that Mae can't make it. Although I do like Sophie, and Dara did give us "What? Wait, Wait, What?" I suppose.
