I know he's controversial but I do love Frankie Boyle...

I cannot abide her because she makes a living on pretending to be thick. As if women can only be funny if they act dumb.

I was wondering if Lucy was for real the other day when my housemate looked round and told me she was just like me. Blush

I’m not stupid just a bit naturally out of it and vague!

You can watch "Meet the Richardsons" to decide ....

I do think that it's interesting that all the podcast guests come back to the question of "is she for real?"

It also shows an interesting feature of this series which is that there's no real overlap between them, which is why none of them know Lucy IRL. Susan's an actor, Sue's a TV presenter, Julian was a standup but is now a full time National Treasure (as far as I can tell he makes a decent income for the year from doing panto each Christmas for six weeks which is an excellent life choice at age 64), Sam is a full time circuit standup, Lucy was a standup but is now mostly a TV double act. They're all very different people, and they're all in awe of Julian much like Frankie Boyle last series, although Sue and Susan genuinely do seem to have bonded. In previous series there was more overlap between the contestants and Alex and Greg.

Enjoying it anyway.

I just adore Greg...I'm pretty sure he pops in now and then to check he's still an object of desire as far as MN goes so...PHWOAR!

I now have this vision of Greg waking up this morning, having enjoyed his extra hour in bed. He reaches for his glasses and phone and says "Right, time to check if I'm still on the shaggable list with MN" He then smiles, puts his phone down and smugly says to himself "Yup, still got it" before going about his day.

TitsInAbsentia · 29/10/2023 16:06

See, that's bloody realistic eh 😂

Lucy is still a stand up, she has a tour coming up (I keep seeing ads for it on Instagram)

Love the description of Julian as full time National Treasure 😄

And I am enjoying the Sue and Susan friendship. On last week's podcast, Susan sounds absolutely lovely.

Just watched this weeks episode (something robin something) and either I’m going a bit cracked or the editing is poorer this season. After the peg task they have a discussion about Greg allowing Sam’s bowl of pegs but I’m sure I didn’t hear it discussed before - like they just cut out a large chunk of discussion but left in a bit clearly referencing it?

EvilRingahBitch · 03/11/2023 14:37

They did discuss Sam's pegs twice. While talking to him they said that he'd done one batch in a little hanger made out of the task envelope and one lot in a bowl on the bottom shelf. Greg said "I'll allow it" but then when they went on to Sue and compared what she was allowed to get away vs what Sam had been allowed Greg clarified that he'd only meant the pegs in the hanger and not the ones in the bowl.

banivani · 03/11/2023 16:39

Oh i missed that completely! I rescind my complaint.

SprogTakesAQuarry · 03/11/2023 17:53

This season was would be far worse without Lucy. She’s properly funny - her and Sam are the ones really delivering during the studio records.

Jellykat · 09/11/2023 21:08

I'm definitely warming to Lucy, she really irritated me up till now

ReviewingTheSituation · 09/11/2023 21:33

Loving today's episode! Properly funny. I think Lucy gets the double headed coin - she didn't look surprised like the others when it was shown.

Jellykat · 09/11/2023 21:54

Hope someone did give the kid £100, or thats mean.. Grin

MapleSyrupWaffles · 09/11/2023 21:59

Sue's really not going to win the series though is she. I wanted her too.

But I think it's going to be Sam

buzz91 · 09/11/2023 22:17

I enjoyed the lucky task, but because I saw it on NZ I was shouting at sam to go to the other locations/look at the coin before the reveal

Also in camp ‘i hope Flossie got her £100’, the look on pure excitement in her eyes!!

I feel like if Lucy if is an act, it slipped for a moment in the live task when she quickly got ‘blood’s thicker than water’ because she looked genuinely shocked she’d said it and then did a simple looking smile and head nod at the camera!

Not been on in a while so caught up on earlier chat - i actually really liked Angela Dravid in NZ, I don’t know if it’s because I read up about her life and was just wowed by it though, because yes she does act dumb and don’t like Lucy for that.

Bimbleberries · 09/11/2023 22:18

Alex just tweeted that Flossie did get the £100, in book tokens.

buzz91 · 09/11/2023 22:20

@Bimbleberries Poor Flossie! Kid clearly wanted cold hard cash 😂 Justice for Flossie!

Bimbleberries · 10/11/2023 09:18

Yes I thought it was pretty clear the offer was cash, and you could see her considering the various things she might do with it! Unless books happen to be her thing, she might have been disappointed. I guess it might be a legal thing, though, that they couldn't give her actual money - though she must have been offered something for doing it in the first place, even just a gift.

I am surprised they still allowed Sam to take the points for that, though! Also it was a kind of bizarre task, given that the child was old enough to know that she was trying to see people pretending to sleep, so she must have known that they were all pretending really and it was more a task of trying to choose who was the best pretender, rather than trying to convince her they were really asleep. I thought it was going to be a toddler who could come up and interact with them, which would have been funny.

I also thought that there was going to be something made of the fact that one or two of them read the task as sleeptalk and others as sleepwalk. The 'talk' bit was highlighted in red, so I presume was wrong, and the 'walk' bit in green, but nothing was said about that again.

EvilRingahBitch · 10/11/2023 09:34

If you were in the bed you had to sleepwalk, if you weren't in the bed you had to sleep talk.

I assume Flossie's parents vetoed the cash, which is an utter swizz. I hope she spends all of the book token on Rainbow Fairies, BTS annuals or something else that they'll hate. Or buys books for her friends in return for them buying her eighty quids worth of Haribo.

murasaki · 10/11/2023 09:37

I don't think you can give kids cash, kid volunteers for psychology experiments had to be given vouchers. I'm not quite sure why, but funders and finance insisted.

Good im glad!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 10/11/2023 19:03

I luffs Sue, purely for her 'Greg made out of Greggs'

SprogTakesAQuarry · 11/11/2023 15:21

Book tokens? I mean I love books, but that’s a swizzle. Poor kid!

SprogTakesAQuarry · 11/11/2023 15:27

For those debating Lucy as an act or not, it’s really not a binary thing.

A good comparison would be Joe Wilkinson. I imagine that there’s elements of both Lucy and Joes comedy personas that a part of who they actually are. But built on top of that is cleverly refined performance that makes for great comedy.

Im a huge fan of her in this series. She’s incredibly funny.
