Race Across The World - Series 3

This starts Wednesday week on BBC1 (22 March).

Anyone want to join me on a thread about it? I saw some episodes of the previous two series but didn't watch them all and am kicking myself about it now because it really is such an interesting and beautifully shot reality series.

So am going to watch the whole of the next one - this time in Canada!

Liking the dad/daughter who spent loads on taxis last week (who have communication issues) and the husband/ wife team

God, this is some journey to the next checkpoint.

I'm saving tonight's episode for when we're all here. Just me and DDog tonight.

Zainib (spelling?) is gorgeous

I was just thinking the same thing. She really is naturally stunning with her hair up in the back of the van.

I like them, they seem very down to earth, fun and realistic about their own strengths/weaknesses.

Monique stepping up when her dad was tired, I like that. But... now wonder her feet were hurting she was wearing crocs. I'm hoping she had just popped them on in the tent. She's also a very pretty girl, she has a lovely smile.

Marc really reminds me of someone. I can't for the life of me think who.

Zainib and her husband (I've forgotten his name) are really lovely. I like that they keep working to experience things along the way rather than just ploughing on. I think I have to go to Canada now but I would definitely annoy DH by my levels of excitement everytime I saw a bear.

That just blows my mind, the bears just casually on the roadside.

Canada is gorgeous. I've decided I'm winning the euro millions on Friday and going on a road trip across Canada.

A few of them are going to start getting really low on money soon, then they're in trouble..

Canada is top of my long haul 'wish list' and watching this is making me very envious! How did Trish(?) and Cathy get from Whitehorse to the check point?

I think they hitched with a trucker. I think that's why we didn't get footage as they couldn't get cameras in the cab.

We’ve been a couple of times but I really really want to go back now. And yes, we did see bears on the roadside.

If only we’d got to see trailer guy and his dog’s place, sigh.

I mean DH and I were laughing when she asked if trailer guy was going to kill them as he 100% looked like a guy in a movie who would definitely kill you but I did feel a bit sorry for him as he was only trying to be kind to them.

The scenery really is stunning. Still not loving taxi man but was glad to see the brother starting to enjoy himself.

It was a bit boring tonight – too many long roads and everyone has got the hang of blagging lifts now., so it’s become just a matter of hanging around at service stations until someone friendly shows up. There must be some deal with the producers that if you go off piste and do sightseeing, it’s made up to you at a later date, otherwise why would anyone do it? But I’m going to keep watching - and Canada looks beautiful

I dont understand what you mean about why would you go sightseeing? To see the sights and experience things you otherwise wouldn't get to experience.

DH and I both said if we went on the programme we wouldn't care too much about winning as whilst £20,000 is a lot of money its not THAT much really and you could bust a gut and still not win. We would be in it for the experiences and the opportunities to see/do things.

They mentioned that one team would be eliminated... did that happen in the series before?

Seemed to end quite abruptly tonight. We didn't find out how the 2 friends got there so quickly and we don't know where everyone is on budgets. Maybe they'll start the next episode with the budget though. Felt sorry for the dogs on chains.

I'm a bit bored of it really.
I also felt for the chained up dogs.
Will keep watching but it isn't anything like the other two series so far.
Maybe it's the people?

It's interesting that Zainib used to wear a scarf. I think she and Mobeen were probably quite right to be cautious about the tall guy, although he was probably just trying to be kind. You have to take a detour or two, Zainib says it's not about winning, they want the experience.
