This starts Wednesday week on BBC1 (22 March). Anyone want to join me on a thread about it? I saw some episodes of the previous two series but didn't watch them all and am kicking myself about it now because it really is such an interesting and beautifully shot reality series. So am going to watch the whole of the next one - this time in Canada!

Also just been looking at the next leg which is the second to last and is from Quebec city to Liverpool, Nova Scotia.

Google suggests most direct route is south, through Maine in the US. Wonder if that will be allowed. Probably not.

I thought that. When they went to Niagara Falls they could've gone via New York and prob the best transport links, but it was never mentioned and I wondered if that was because it was out of Canada.

I don't think they're allowed out of Canada as it's a race across Canada. I'm surprised they didn't mention something along those lines in the voice over when putting up the maps of the routes though.

I don't think Kevin and Claudia will run out of money. The editing has built it up into a big thing so I imagine they will play on the tension this causes until they scrape in by the skin of their teeth with $3.56 left having sold everything they own for the last bus ticket.

I still don't understand why they randomly eliminated the two brothers weeks ago. Can only assume it was the production budget.

I'm getting more and more 👀 at the bias in the editing. Zainib and Mobeen are the golden couple of the series and I don't believe for one second they would talk about their fertility issues naturally in a scenario like that with strangers.

Meanwhile, all of Kevin and Claudia's off moments are heavily signposted and lo and behold they are the villains of the piece.

I suppose it's because women of that age are generally "invisible" and don't do this kind of thing. Or at least that is always the general impression of women of this age (I am one!) They tend to get underestimated.

They're acting against the usual dull stereotype which is brilliant.

I nearly posted the same thing earlier! If there had been another elimination a week or so after it would make sense but they've only eliminated one pair.

They eliminated a team at the same point in series 1, and would have done in series 2 but one team lost half their money so that made it unnecessary to do. I think it's a bit of a shame but perhaps it gives more time to look indepth at the other couples and give their journeys more air time.

I found it great to see the infertility chat, my DH and I went through this albeit for a shorter amount of time as we went ahead with IVF but everything Zainib said rang so true, from feeling it taking over your life to being able to speak about it so matter of factly because you're just so used to talking it over with people, answering questions and getting your head round it. I was and am the same, found it easier to just talk about it that have it be a secret and a weight on the shoulders. 6 years is a long long time for them to be trying, I feel for them both and their relationship must be so strong!

I’ve warmed to Claudia and Kevin - lots of dads and daughters have non existent relationships and this shows there is no quick and easy solution. I was pleased to see Claudia handle the train situation so calmly and Kevin had to follow her lead. I can’t see how they could win but they will learn more than any of the teams!

When I saw the bit with Kevin saying about being a cab driver and knowing how to get places easier I thought "there's a man who thinks he's always right and won't ask/listen for directions". I wasn't a bit surprised he lost the plot and the chance to get the direct train - and thought his daughter did well to bite her tongue and just move on to the next option. 🌹

I have a feeling that they must either travel overnight or stay in an accommodation (free or paid for) so no hanging about at the bust station or train station overnight. A late bus or very early bus is allowed so the rules must be quite specific.

I like them too - they are very honest about their difficult relationship and how it's not all a bed of roses on this trip. I hope what they've learnt about each other lasts into the future!

Laid and Monique have also learnt a lot about each other with Ladi being able to see she had good ideas (like the midnight bus rather than expensive hotel)

I'm annoyed that yet again we don't know how the leading team got to the checkpoint. Last we saw of Zainib and Mobeen was them on a paid for bus to Ottowa, why didn't we see them any further than that. It's a long way from Ottowa to Quebec City!

Yes, this is so annoying isn't it? It's like they don't want the viewers to see in advance how the winners got there and when they got there - because they don't want to spoil the surprise?? or what? It's a bit childish.

I thought we saw them getting on a train after the bus? Although I’m getting a bit confused as it does seem to skip over the “travel” bits a lot.

I'm sure we saw them get to Montreal and saying to each other they'll see it another time because they were going straight on another bus to Quebec they even commented on how expensive it looked and we're glad they weren't staying overnight

The only people discussing their age is them. They refer to themselves as old women. They are only late 40s, I'm a similar age and do not see myself as an old woman. They are not old just unfit....

Around 49.40 minutes there was a segue from Monique and Ladi at the bus station to Zainib and Mobeen boarding a VIA Rail Canada train but the connecting shot was an exterior of the Union Station Bus Terminal.

I must be the only person finding the female friends annoying. I found getting off the bus to move the other contestants bags to the back very unsporting.
