There's such a strange juxtaposition between Classic and now at the moment. We're hearing about how awful Shadrach was while he's being a lovable rogue and Marlon's suicide attempt being is treated as comedy!

Amy was understandably not in the best of humour after yesterday and Matty took it personally.

I was confused by Cain’s visit to Amy. Why was she surprised that Cain wanted her to be involved with Kyle? Had she just assumed that, because she’d given up on full custody, things would go to the other extreme of her not seeing him at all?

Yes that was weird @WomanStanleyWoman2 Cain and Moira never stopped Amy seeing Kyle before. I guess she just thought they were going to behave like she did as she stopped them seeing Kyle and threatened getting custody. Love that Cain is taking the higher ground.

I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating. Matty is the transgender son of a woman whose daughter died of a heroin overdose and whose son is on the run for a murder she actually committed. He’s dating a woman who had a child at 16 with his stepfather, left said child in a phone box when he was a day old, later tried to go on the run with said child and, when she came back, burnt her friend’s father to death before having a relationship with the long-lost son of her child’s father - who cheated on her with her now-partner’s mother.

All this drama - and they’re still the most fucking boring couple in the history of television.

I think the problem is that Emmerdale are unwilling to get into the reality of a woman and a trans man (not sure of the current accepted terminology) having a relationship and all that entails for both of them. They are quite happy to gloss over it and wave their humongous flag of many colours and everything is hunky dory. There's so much they could do with them and it could be so good because Matty is great at that angsty stuff.
