Normally in the village there are multiple characters conveniently in the street when something is happening, coming out of their houses just as something is about to kick off. But tonight when Charles is grappling with Alex and then wandering the village shouting his name not a bugger to be seen for miles.

Same on the road when Alex was standing there only Billy's car came along but 5 minutes later there was a big backlog of cars waiting for the road to be cleared.

I take it Gabby is going to find out she’s pregnant with child of the pretty boy smiling nanny. She was sick the other day and in soapland that’s usually as good as a positive test.

And when they do finally do a test it is always left face up at the top of a bin or peeping out of a handbag on a coffee table.

I'm hoping she's being poisoned by Nicky. Anything is better than another fecking pregnancy story.

And dopey Billy will find the positive test and think it’s Dawn’s.

However - here's the twist - Caleb has thrown the positive test back into the bin in disgust, prior to kidnapping Gabby, and while he's off doing his dastardly deeds Billy finds it and thinks it's Dawn's.

Billy paces about a bit in a fever of emotion and eventually puts it on the table on top of Kim's laptop before rushing off to find Dawn, only for Will to wander in and find it. Will gawps at the test, and then glances at the laptop and sees an open page about IVF, because Kim's been on Mumsnet again and clicked on one of the interminable advert links by accident before being called away to the champagne cupboard.

It's all real to me, like I was there.

Great ideas for a storyline. And if only Caleb was in his usual position strolling along with his takeaway coffee he could have helped Charles overpower Alex and do a citizen’s arrest and save Billy the trouble of driving in to him.

Caleb doesn't stroll he clip clops. I think he has to share a pair of shoes with Daniel off Corrie.
