What channel is that on please? Is it a documentary?

Mumteedum · 18/02/2023 09:02

She's brilliant. Glad it's back. I couldn't watch s2 because one of the couples irritated me too much 😂

Mumteedum · 18/02/2023 09:03

It's BBC iPlayer

Lottapianos · 18/02/2023 09:03

Very excited, loved the first two series. Just fascinating

Tayegete · 18/02/2023 09:03

I love this. I hadn’t realised there was a new series.

crochetmonkey74 · 18/02/2023 09:18

I love Orna and I want to be her. Wafting about New York in esoteric clothes getting coffee with my mentor

I'm on episode 3 already!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/02/2023 19:59

I think she's a shocking therapist though, I honestly think someone could be telling her they were about to end it all and she'd say " Time's up ,so we'll revisit this next week, bye! " 🙄😂

Mumteedum · 19/02/2023 20:19

But it's TV therapy. There will be edits.

I think she's so skilled and all participants are really brave for doing this so openly. I've binged it all. Just compulsive viewing imo.

VooVooV · 19/02/2023 21:06

I’ve never heard of this - I’ve now started watching series 1. Fascinating!

Mumteedum · 19/02/2023 21:21

S1 was great. The pyscho guy was fascinating.

Iwishmynamewassheilah · 19/02/2023 21:34

Love her dog!

BeautifulDayintheneighbourhood · 19/02/2023 21:38

I love this programme. Watched the whole of series 3 in two days. She's a brilliant therapist and I find the whole thing so well done and fascinating.

Mau? He’s bloody awful isn’t he.
It’s compulsive. I only started Series 1 a few hours ago and I’m just starting Ep 8!

Lottapianos · 20/02/2023 18:18

'Mau? He’s bloody awful isn’t he.'

Seriously awful. Fascinating, but the thought of spending any time with him is pretty chilling

Watched the first 2 episodes of series 3. Have to restrict myself to 2 at a time, otherwise I would binge it all in one go! I love it, it's so absorbing

Seaoftroubles · 22/02/2023 17:00

Fascinating series, totally addictive. So pleased to see it back for Series 3. Love Orna with her deceptively gentle ability to get to the heart of the couples issues. I also have to limit myself to 2/3 episodes at a time. So tempting to binge watch!

Uhave2changethings · 26/02/2023 21:11

The Jewish couple in Series 2 cracked me up, Micheal and Michal.

Sometimes you can see the thing worth saving underneath it all but Ping & Will in Series 3 - no, can't understand why they're together still.

I find Orna so sympathetic and kind in her way of handling some tricky relationships.

Mumteedum · 26/02/2023 21:42

@Uhave2changethings I couldn't cope with s2 because of that couple. I couldn't listen to her. She was so loud. I have noise sensitivity issues and I just couldn't cope 😂 They were an odd match.

I don't want to do spoilers for other people so I won't ask but I might Google and see what happened to them.

Ping was very angry but made a lot of progress. It was sad, those two.

I loved Michael and Michal

Mau was fucking horrendous. A terrible human being. His lack of self awareness was disturbing e.g. when he said what a great therapist he would be 🤣

'Mau was fucking horrendous. A terrible human being. His lack of self awareness was disturbing e.g. when he said what a great therapist he would be 🤣'

Well of course, naturally he would be the best therapist ever! He was a pretty disturbing person

Ping and Will's relationship in this series is pretty dark and sad stuff. No spoilers but Orna does share her thoughts at one point about why they are still together and what they are each getting from it. Very sad

I love the peer supervision scenes, they are new this series. Really interesting hearing other therapists' insights and suggestions

purpleme12 · 28/02/2023 15:01

Bump

Stiltonlover · 28/02/2023 21:37

Following! Why on earth are Ping and Will still together.

I had longterm psychodynamic psychotherapy and this exactly what my therapist would say at the end of a session.

I could be in tears, just admitted something really important and she'd say 'Well we've come to the end of our time..'

Initially I thought this was bloody awful but it's a part of the therapy - you learn to say what you mean and communicate fully, and do your homework about what you want to discuss rather than waffling for an hour, dropping a bombshell and being shocked your therapist hasn't got another hour to talk to you.

I suspect Orna has similar training.

Lottapianos · 28/02/2023 22:04

'I had longterm psychodynamic psychotherapy and this exactly what my therapist would say at the end of a session.'

Same. You're paying for their time, and for a pre-arranged professional session. They're not your friend

purpleme12 · 28/02/2023 22:51

Watching episode 3.
Ping and her partner. It's me and my ex.
I see it. You attack cos you feel hurt, the other person retreats, you feel more abandoned so you go find him, he retreats, you feel abandoned and what do you know how to do when you feel abandoned? Attack. So you're in a cycle.
