Anyone watching.
I find this programme so fascinating I love it!

OP posts:
FunnyMunny · 08/09/2024 17:23

Should it be renamed Throuples therapy?

SwedishEdith · 11/09/2024 22:20

Just started episode 2. Josh 🤮. Went on Reddit to see if people were talking about him and there's a poster who claims they lived with him. V. interesting.

I wish someone cute cut up the episodes so you could just watch one couple for 30 minutes at a time.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 11/09/2024 22:33

Come back later on on the series it gets very interesting. I'm off to look at Reddit now!

Love that Reddit info.
I couldn’t stand Josh. Red flags a-plenty.

merrymaryquitecontrary · 11/09/2024 23:05

Can't remember names but the guy who lives with his mum and thinks he needs to be in his son's life when he turns 16 Hmm
Orna charges $700 per session!

Do you reckon they get these for free as a condition for being filmed?

Yes I believe they do!

I have hated this new season, I don't think there's a single couple on it or even a person (maybe Rex) to root for.

They are all so self obsessed and just talk in nonsense woo speak I don't even understand.
It's like a comedy satire and it makes me despair for humanity.

I have no idea what any of the poly trio are thinking or saying because they are incapable of speaking unless it's in an affected nonsense language of social media, self love bollocks.

And Alexis and Casimir are just painful (in a boring way) to watch - when they said they plan to have kids , please god no.

I get they probably select couples that are supposed to be interesting to viewers but this season is just too much, there is no one to like or that you feel will be ok.

I do feel like she doesn't like Josh though which I enjoyed, his bizarre wildfire story retold to make it him actually being a selfless hero and all me me me was astounding, like saying you murdered someone but then the way you were treated was traumatic for you waaawaaa , his house is beautiful so he's obviously somehow managing to battle the adversity 😆.

The only bit i like is her reflecting with her peers and supervisor lady, that's genuinely fascinating.

Last thing...I also hate the weird bottles of water with no glasses.

merrymaryquitecontrary · 13/09/2024 09:31

I'm loving the posts on reddit by the person who lived with Josh, it makes so much sense.

toffeeteacake · 13/09/2024 14:00

I’m on episode 2 of the new series and I’m enjoying it so far, I’m glad I didn’t let this thread put me off!

NeelyOHara1 · 13/09/2024 19:08

Was excited to see a Season 3. But after a couple of episodes, lost interest.

merrymaryquitecontrary · 14/09/2024 08:04

Joey is turning out a bit tiger mom with Rex, which I didn't see coming at all.

toffeeteacake · 14/09/2024 14:58

Surprised people are moaning so much about the most recent series - I’ve enjoyed them all.

But for me it’s really about seeing Orna at work. I don’t need to love the couples.

Mumteedum · 14/09/2024 23:40

She's incredibly accepting and does not get phased. All that chat with her supervisor about the two spirit thing...whoa.

merrymaryquitecontrary · 15/09/2024 08:21

She's incredibly accepting and does not get phased

It's her job. The very point of the session of a therapist with their peers is to talk about issues that affected them. In the last series there was a Palestinian girl getting therapy and she briefly touched on her family's forced removal in Palestine. Orna is Israeli, and she talked to her peers about how she felt conflicted about this, because 'her people' were the cause of this client's pain.

I really like Orna but would love to get her a deep conditioner for her hair, the split ends are wild.

Iwishmynamewassheilah · 15/09/2024 08:58

Can’t link to it but Orna and the Palestinian girl have published a long discussion they had since about the politics of their individual backgrounds. Telegraph, I think, which is behind a paywall.

It was in the Guardian so no paywall: www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/sep/13/israel-palestine-7-october-gaza-orna-guralnik

I’m really surprised and disappointed that Orna did that article with Christine. It’s a ‘dual relationship’ to have another type of relationship outside the therapy room. Therapy is a properly regulated and licensed profession in the US and I’m sure this goes against their ethical requirements. Sure, being on TV means they’ve waived the usual confidentiality but that shouldn’t mean throwing all other standards out of the window.

A good brush through might be a start !

I agree. It’s not professional in the least.

He comes across as such a manipulator! He just wants 2 women because he's greedy and has a massive ego, then hides behind the progressive ideology of polyamory.

The guy who doesn't live with his wife and kid, because dads are not needed till the kid is 16 is a joke! I wish Orna would call him out more.

merrymaryquitecontrary · 16/09/2024 10:58

Was anyone else pearl clutching at the revelation that Rex had a different girl every day in high school? He looks like such a gentleman 😅 I'm going off Joey, she's really keeping Rex back from who he is and I've no idea why he's going along with it.

OuterSpaceCadet · 20/09/2024 07:29

Thanks for sharing. I think Orna is a brilliant therapist. I found this fascinating and by far the deepest discussion I've ever read in the Guardian and for once the Guardian wasn't telling me what I should think.

I am extremely impressed with both of them for being able to continue the discussion through very very difficult topics. There's no neat conclusion.

I don't think it's a dual relationship because a year or more had passed since the end of the therapy. I presume Orna used her professional judgement and wouldn't necessarily do something like this with any of her former clients. It's clear from the discussion that the potential therapist/ client power imbalance is acknowledged but also doesn't continue to play out; it would be inappropriate if Christine was still seeking advice for example, but she's not. They're both seeking to deepen their understanding. It would be inappropriate for Christine to become Orna's client again, but there's no suggestion of this.
