I didn't understand the 'joke' 🙄 Sugar made about a baby on a topless beach. It sounds distasteful but could someone please explain it.

The assumption being that the baby is breast feeding, on a topless beach a plethora of breasts will be in view, so the baby won't know which breasts to feed from and is therefore confused.

Not funny and not in good taste.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 10/03/2023 20:16

Just watching Crufts and they briefly featured an insect-based dog food - total ownership of the insects, brand-name was 'Mr Bug' and pictures of insects on the packet.

JMSA · 10/03/2023 22:06

@PlaitBilledDuckyPuss

Yuk - thanks for the explanation though.

ReneBumsWombats · 11/03/2023 07:53

It actually looks really good. They've led on sustainability and good feeding for dogs with sensitive stomachs, and use terms like "insect protein", which is an honest but appealing way of describing it. I'd buy it.

Yeah that website is really good. Mealworms must be a lot cheaper than meat too, yet the packets are pricey. I bet they make a lot of profit.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 11/03/2023 11:13

There is insect-based cat food as well!

It’s great that people watching are pleased about dogs eating a sustainable new form of protein. Everyone does realise it won’t be long until we are all eating mealworms as our protein source?

My cats do enjoy insects 'raw' when they get the chance - great entertainment in the summer watching them leap round the house in quest of a fly.

ClemFandangoCanYouHearMe · 11/03/2023 12:05

I've been down a worm home of old episodes.

Who remembers the Wolf Fleece episode from Series one? Such a classic and both Miriam or Saira are so much better than any candidates on the last few series

I remember this, it was brilliant.

Agree the past candidates were better, some of them anyway. I think they wanted a job. It changed a lot when it was investing into a business.

Where are you finding the old episodes? I’d like to watch some old ones!

TheSilveryPussycat · 11/03/2023 15:42

I didn't watch Series 1, but I remember seeing an episode with the wolf fleece when it went first went out. (I quite liked the fleece Blush). Were there more than one episodes with a wolf fleece?

I tried in vain to find Series 1 a couple of years ago. I had half hoped the BBC would re-run it the year Covid scuppered that year's series.

The video @ClemFandangoCanYouHearMe put up is "unavailable in this country."

billysboy · 11/03/2023 16:50

I think Victoria will win

TaraMock · 11/03/2023 18:19

I can watch the video @ClemFandangoCanYouHearMe put up, here in Ireland, great fun to watch!
I'm still watching, but two things struck me that I want to say before I forgot: 1 ) Tim asking football fans "have you got a mobile phone?" 😆 2) in the preview/ last week on... when Suralan fires the candidate it didn't look like it was full of the drama we're used to now.

I remember someone on MN saying they bought the wolf jacket and still have it 😁

TitsInAbsentia · 11/03/2023 19:00

OMG I had to dig for it and that was James Max, so long ago!

ClemFandangoCanYouHearMe · 11/03/2023 21:18

Oh sorry. I'm in New Zealand so didn't realise it might not be available to UK.
The whole of series 1 is on You Tube. I really want to watch Series 2 again with Ruth Badger, and Series 3 where we met Katie Hopkins. If I recall rightly, she made it to the final week but then said she was pulling out due to family issues.

I think any of the candidates in series one would be serious contenders in this latest series.

BogRollBOGOF · 12/03/2023 22:23

Wolf jackets are still popular around the supermarket after all these years. They always make me think of The Apprentice.

The format's been very repetitive this year, pretty much all design & present or put on an event, and mostly done badly. No conventions, hard graft or appeal to an artist and sell it type tasks. The negotiate random items was weeks ago. The telesales was done in a recent series (was it last year?) and tended to come up when the teams were down to 3 each.

It's felt lacklustre this year, the calibre of the contestants, and the format. I've never really gone in for reality TV, but did always like the fact that there was intelligence and some talent to The Apprentice that made it different. This year, my children have laughed at what's been achieved.

I like Megan the most although this past week was not her finest hour. She has generally shown more sense than the rest of them, and has a decent sense of when to speak up and when to stand down. Dani has made some reasonable decisions along the way but is too gobby. I'm struggling to remember a couple of the other names!

NurseCranesRolodex · 13/03/2023 08:37

Marnie seems unable to back down on a crap idea that's not working and pushes for her own ideas at all cost. Dani is a good negotiater who seems sharp and engaging but talks too much at the Teams expense, Michelle comes across as bright and astute enough to take other ideas on board and could win. Victoria, has made good points but backtracks to blame others a lot. The awful judgement on show in the terrible Dynasty type outfits, impractical heels, minidress... Facial enhancements is depressing. What's that about...AS comes across as a Delboy type with added sexism and shit stereotype jokes. Time to axe and set up with Tim and some other faces. Karen, AS past sell by.

Slimjimtobe · 09/03/2023 21:36

I literally cannot understand why attractive young people have pumped so much into their face especially their mouths 👄

its really putting me off (I don’t want to be horrible but I just think they don’t need this stuff )

It's worrying. Hate how this look is the dominant one presented to young women as 'the norm' it seems really regressive and depressing. Would not be surprised if some of the remaining business plans are exploiting young women's fragile sense of self and the notion that hard, big, unmoving sore looking lips, outsized buckteeth and unnaturally drooping mouths are the way to go.

Maireas · 13/03/2023 10:27

It's an awful look, a pastiche of femininity for the male gaze.
Pumped lips, extended lashes, huge nails, tight, short clothing, spike heels.
It is a bit depressing!

ReneBumsWombats · 13/03/2023 11:03

I don't think it's for the male gaze. I think it's just a modern idea of what a businesswoman aesthetic is...largely from people who run small businesses and don't actually go into glass skyscrapers in Canary Wharf every day. It's the kind of thing Mattel would dress Businesswoman Barbie in.

Maireas · 13/03/2023 11:05

Oh full lips and tight clothing are most definitely for the male gaze 😊

hazeydzys · 13/03/2023 11:06

The lip filler has been badly done. Overfilled and comical in the case of Dani, and both she and Victoria look like ducks in profile. Not a good look.

hazeydzys · 13/03/2023 11:12

I wonder if some of them really think business people dress like that 🤔 Because generally they don't, even in the more 'trendy' sectors.
