The only problem with Simba was he didnt stand up for himself enough.

Everything he said or did in the episode was correct. His ideas were good. He just didnt believe in himself and couldn't stand up to Dani.

I've not really been watching this, but saw it last night and couldn't believe how the women were dressed - massive high heels and very short skirts. They looked really 'dated' and not at all business-like or practical for being on your feet all day. The contrast between them and the real business people they were presenting to was huge.

The women on the same team who sat down to brainstorm had their suit jackets across their shoulders Linda Carrington style. Gave me a giggle watching them.

Has anyone else noticed that Nutricious (on the Pro-paw packaging) isn't spelt that way?

In previous series that would have been a huge mistake and could have caused a loss.

These days there are so many mistakes a spelling mistake isn't worth pointing out.

Watching Victoria hop around on her heels trying to put that hat on the dog, with her jacket sliding off her shoulders.😬

It is frustrating that people like Dani and Marnie, who both bulldozer their way through conversations and don’t listen to anyone else EVER are not called out for that.

Not possible to stand up to someone like that without it turning into what they euphemistically describe as “bickering”.

RachelGreensHair · 10/03/2023 14:35

Simba did stand up for himself but also knew when to let it go just to get the task done, cos Dani can argue forever.

redrobin75 · 10/03/2023 14:52

I just watched the spin off show on catch up and when I heard Simba's business is a carehome style business based in your own home his exit made a bit more sense as the business plan hasn't got the tv marketability of a cake shop etc.

hazeydzys · 10/03/2023 15:03

I remember thinking that the panel of women from Waitrose (who were lovely and stylish, yet dressed appropriately and professionally for business, to add) looked very tested dealing with the contestants. No wonder they gave them a hard time.

I like Karen usually so will watch with interest next week. Though she could have defended Simba. I thought he was safe and Dani sure to go.

Sir Alan (does he insist on that silly title also) needs to stop with the awful jokes. Does he come up with them himself 🤔

Yes , and , also- more to the point- it wasn't even nutricious (sic)

One of them looked like she was wearing a floaty nightdress for the presentation and the other’s skirt only just skimmed her bum. Even the women on the panel were raising their eyebrows.
For the next series, I’d really like to see some clever and capable young women in business-appropriate clothes and sensible shoes. Less of the lips, hair, eyebrows and stripper heels. Glasses even, maybe some tweed, little or no make-up. It would be quite refreshing. (But it’ll never happen).

It did once. It might again.

hazeydzys · 10/03/2023 15:24

That sounds like the Apprentice of old @JemimaTab Sad

One of the outfits did look like a nightie! They were dressed for a night on the town. Strange idea of corporate wear.

Exactly!

Running a business, at some point, you are going to need to rely on someone who knows better than you. You're going to need to know when to lead by following, and knuckling down to someone else's vision.

While watching, I remember thinking- the reps look really angry and annoyed. Wasnt sure if it was cos of the contestants or that was their normal demeanor.

Didn't the one who left early from her own choice dress quite sensibly? I remember thinking it was quite refreshing seeing a skirt that actually looked smart, practical and comfortable.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 10/03/2023 16:04

Why is it they are obsessed with turning letters in any logo into an image? It never ends well and just makes the logo unreadable - see the motorbike one earlier in this series, and 'First Dies' baby food in the last series. Simba was 100% right to stop the 'o' being turned into a pawprint.

Twisting · 10/03/2023 17:02

It all feels really scripted. You can tell by the way they look expectantly at the next person whose turn it is to speak and the way they all sound like shit actors. Part of the fun used to be the utter bollocks they came out with, but now even the mistakes seem set up.

It's called editing.

Isuppose · 10/03/2023 17:31

It’s always been scripted though mid feels even more forced.
DH knew someone who was accepted to be a candidate but didn’t go ahead with it once he found out the production team decided the winner which was presumably based on the entertainment value of the candidate!

I actually thought Sugar made his own decisions in the boardroom, although obviously there's a lot of backstage manipulation.

If that's true, it's weird they didn't keep Cannon Guy. Everyone wanted to see more of him.

No, they've always edited it. But all the conversations are more stilted. Like when there used to be American wife swap and they'd ask clearly been given lines to learn.

This is interesting but probably not entirely accurate. It says they don’t read the candidates business plans until the week before the interviews. I’m sceptical…..

Can't be, they've always got so much background info on the candidates and the businesses, it must have taken the researchers weeks to cyberstalk them.

martinisforeveryone · 10/03/2023 19:55

What ever happened to standards of education? Can't notice a spelling mistake,
can't do very basic maths and to stand there trying to argue their cases when they're so very clearly in the wrong is beyond cringeworthy.

The panels who had to suffer the presentations looked like they were at the end of their patience and totally insulted by how ridiculous the propositions were and no, there were no costings whatsoever.

This type of episode and then the panel's grilling belies the fact that there's ever a worthy winner.

JMSA · 10/03/2023 19:57

I didn't understand the 'joke' 🙄 Sugar made about a baby on a topless beach. It sounds distasteful but could someone please explain it.
