Anyone else watching clarkson farm season 2? I’m binge watching it!

Don’t read if you are watching one episode at a time. I’m binge watching and loving it. The bloody councillors should be struck off the way they are treating him and through him the other local farmers.

So basically you just don't like him, anyone else could do it and it would be fine, but because it's him, it's not.

No, I like top gear, the grand tour, I dont feel any particular way about Clarkson. I ts purely I didn't resonate with this series. We can keep going back and forward but I didn't enjoy it. If its because of some deep hatred for Clarkson I wouldn't have said I liked the first. It's not that deep, I just didn't enjoy this series and some of the things he did on itm

You've literally just said it would be fine if it wasn't him doing it. Why?

Ptea · 13/02/2023 14:00

I'm going to bow out as I don't think you will be happy until I say I like this season and I didn't, for a variety of reasons.
Jeremy Clarkson running something is going to be different to the average farmer, I don't have to resonate with it and I know there will be differences in terms of impact of living near that vs a non celebrity farm. Hence why I wouldn't want to have my farm near his one.
You enjoyed it, great. I didn't have a burning hatred for this season, I just didn't enjoy it, but I'm bowing out now and genuinly glad others liked it and they felt it gave them an insight.

I didn't ask, nor do I care if you liked it. I asked you a question...

@Ptea I think the £20 sprout was a way to get rid of the stock. And to be funny and make a point about the ludicrous pettiness of the way the council were treating him about the car park.
People would also have bought the potatoes, the milk & milkshakes (from the TB infected farm), the honey, the lamb and pork (from his neighbours) and the other veggies they sell from local farms. It's a farm shop that lots visit because it's on tv. But it's benefiting lots of local people, not just Clarkson.

you make a good point.
I’ve been to the shop, literally got the t shirt. Queued for hours to get in, bought some of the wonderful eggs from that lady, some sausages and some milk. As did everyone else there that day

would I have bought them all from those suppliers had it not been clarksons farm?
probably not. Would the others, again, probably not.

Soubriquet · 14/02/2023 20:29

Just started it today. I loved the first series. It’s not even finished the first episode yet, and I’ve laughed so many times

Custardwarrior · 14/02/2023 21:03

Absolutely loving series 2 as much as series 1. Fantastic that the series is highlighting the many challenges with farming today. The scene where they all cough when cooking the chilli sauce is probably the most I have ever laughed ever at a TV programme. Brilliant entertainment. It's just fun to watch.

If I had forked out 1.5 million plus to live in a small quiet village in an AONB and Clarkson rolled up and started industrialising a nearby farm without planning permission I would be thoroughly pissed off. Especially if I'd been refused various plannings myself. I have now watched the programme and found the farming stuff interesting, it's a world few of us know about now. However, in summary, it's Clarkson simply throwing entitlement around, demanding special treatment because 'I'm Jeremy Clarkson and rules mean nothing to me.' What a surprise.

billysboy · 15/02/2023 06:48

Loving the 2nd series
programme is very good at highlighting several pertinent issues
planners ought to be made more accountable for their decisions and have to engage properly rather than the parochial attitude that most seem to have

excellent coverage given to farming industry issues more so than country file has ever dared to do for

TrinnySmith · 15/02/2023 06:52

I was aghast at the amount of fertiliser needed for the fields. All that being washed into the soil.
But it was my fav prog over lockdown. Though I watch him less now after his nasty comments recently.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 15/02/2023 07:29

i LOVED when the bull went in the field it was like magic Mike for cows 😂

Given that he has lived on the farm for 20 years, you'd have had to have had your 1.5m house for many years.

And why are you allowed to move into the village but he isn't?

Soubriquet · 15/02/2023 08:41

It all smacks of NIMBYism really doesn’t it

“no, you can’t have your restaurant because we don’t want non-locals in our town”

newnamethanks · 15/02/2023 08:42

If I wanted to develop my notional ancient village home of 20 years plus and went ahead with it, having been denied planning, I'd expect my neighbours to be upset. Very upset indeed. And if you were one of them, you'd be upset too.

Nanalisa60 · 15/02/2023 09:05

It is so informative, I felt so sorry for his neighbouring farmers especially the dairy and pig farmers. Can’t believe the council planners, could not care less about jobs and the local farmers . If Farmers fail who do you thing is going to look after our countryside. Can’t wait for Clarkson farm 3

It's not at all! And if you'd paid any attention you'd see he'd followed all the bloody rules. As for industrialising a farm? What?

Considering his neighbours can't even see the buildings from outside his land, I don't think I'd give a shit frankly!

If he had developed a mid terrace into a farm and restaurant yeah maybe I might be annoyed, but in reality he's got acres of land and it doesn't make a negative impact on his neighbours because they are so far away!

Howdya · 15/02/2023 09:14

Not as interested in this series tbh, I enjoyed the first.

JCs stomach! He looks as though he has liver damage and fluid retention. Is he ill?

newnamethanks · 15/02/2023 09:18

Increased traffic. Fancy a 3 hour queue up your street? Thought not.

sashagabadon · 15/02/2023 09:21

If he was allowed to build a car park there would not be traffic jams though. I can see the traffic jams are a nuisance but the interest will die down, it can’t be every day and a car park ( proper) solves it largely

There wouldn't be increased traffic if they let him build the car park though, would there?

blobby10 · 15/02/2023 09:34

The crowds of people would be there even if it wasn't a JC programme - people get hooked on a programme then want to see where its filmed etc. Eddie Stobart had a similar problem a few years ago when films crews did a documentary on them, Crouch Recovery (Trucking Hell) have had people turning up at the yards/depots wanting to meet the drivers and see the big trucks - they now have a notice on their website saying don't.

One thing I do like about Clarksons Farm is that it isn't edited just to make JC look good. When he does or says something stupid, they keep it in and highlight the idiocy. When he has a stupid idea, Charlie et al tell him its stupid.

Birdsbirdsbirds · 15/02/2023 09:36

Yeah he's very honest about the fact he is not a knowledgeable farmer. I think he called himself a trainee farmer at best or something similar.

Soubriquet · 15/02/2023 09:36

I don’t understand council people sometimes.

Complaining about people are parking on the grass verges. Fine I understand that. But then, also saying, no you’re not having a car park either.

EllisActon · 15/02/2023 09:56

MaoamAddict · 13/02/2023 09:56

If everyone could comment on the TV show that would be great Grin

We've binged it and I agree with all that it's made the council look really petty & short sighted. He genuinely appears to care about the viability of British farming and his column/books on Diddly Squat highlight the same.
Brexit lead to the removal of so much financial support for farmers and yet the government still put onerous restrictions on our home grown produce, that they don't apply to cheap imports. Australian beef & NZ lamb aren't raised to the welfare standards British animals are, so they're cheaper. At a time when people need food to remain as cheap as possible, British farmers just can't compete.

There are around a dozen farm shops within 25 miles of my home and they've all been allowed to have a car park, cafe, shop and sometimes stalls/events as farmers need to diversify. Why has Clarkson been blocked from doing the same? It's negative bias when there are so few stable jobs in rural communities.

Regardless of your views on the man himself, the show does an incredible job of showing why Britain may become almost totally reliant on imported food in the future.

I agree...... Clarkson's farm is great to watch and does highlight what life is like for rural farmers and just how stupid the council planning is......and I am not just severely disabled I live locally to Clarkson too!
