People definitely looked older in the 1980s. My dad was born in 1961 and in 1988 he had a moustache, he was an Army sergeant then He looked older !
It was common for men to have moustaches in the 80s.

Bobby and Sheila Grant were the age I am now in the Brookside early years and I think of them as being much older..

Bobby is early 50,s and Sheila is late 40,s

Jonathan and Laura,s wedding made me laugh I remember going ti my Uncles wedding in 1985,with the fashion, s of the time
Laura,s wedding dress was very unflattering.

There's seven years between Simon O'brien ( Damon) and Gillian Kearney ( Debbie) which would have made the actress just 15 when these scenes were filmed and the actor 22 I think that's a bit of an odd choice on behalf of the producer, .I know that there was supposed to be about three years between them but 7 is alot.

No Bobby and Sheila were early 40s when Brookside first started. Actually Ricky Tomlinson was 43 and Sue Johnstone was 39.

I know everyone looked older on the 80s, and Sheila would have been styled to look older, but 39 😮

Anyone else notice that the opening sequence has changed?

I've noticed that the writer changed last week I think from Frank Cottril Boyce to Jimmy McGovern. So maybe they had some other changes, the storylines seem bit better. I may have got that completely wrong !

I beleive this was ti celebrate the 500 th episode ,which I think was burglary/ Jonathan and Laura,s wedding .

We are five years in now so I think it's getting into it's stride now.

Sue Johnstone was born in 1943, making her 39 in 1982 when it started ..

Kate Fitzgerald was 31 when she played 40 year old Doreen Corkhill in 1987.

I thought that when I stayed watching the reruns, that I think of myself as younger than Bobby and Sheila even though I'm nearer in age to Annabel and Paul!

Ralph is only 57 well the actor who plays him is he looks decades older!

18/19, yeah ,he looks about 35!

My son is 18 and looks about half that age!

I just googled the actor who played Gordon was born in 1959 ,so he would have Been in his late 20 s playing an 18/19 year old not great casting!

Bringing home Olive oil from Turkey, and then saying you can get it here, I’ve seen it in the shops 🤣

As a child, the only time I ever saw olive oil was in a tiny bottle from the chemist, used for when I had an earache 🤣
