It occurred to me this week what a little prick Paul Collins is.
I am gutted about Dean Sullivan. Many years ago, I met him at the Celeb BB final that Jack Dee won. He came to meet Claire Sweeney when she came out. Obvs I shouted JIMMMYYYYY!! at him. He was lovely.

I remember it seemed to be a goal of young women in the 80s to look older. I'd be 17 and clubbing, and see 21 year olds dressed like 40+ year olds with the same hair styles. I used to find it really odd. My style was quite young, and I used to call this style the 'womanny' style.

I binge all 5 episodes every Wednesday, too. Oh, and I've thought Paul Collins was an utter cock from day one. Ditto Harry Cross. Misogynist twats, the pair of them (or male chauvinist pigs as we would have called them in the 80s)

When they were talking about Harry Cross's heart issues, I'm sure they said he was 66. That can't be right, surely?? He seems like he's in his eighties. I wish Edna would run off with Ralph.

Yes it's true, both him and Edna are in their 60's! Sheila is also meant to be 45 and I think Annabel is early 50's.

Annabel is something like 48, she mentioned it in an episode last week. She was quite an old fashioned sort even by 80s standards. My mother was very young and modern by comparison at the time. The actress herself (Doreen Sloane) passed away at only 56 bless her.

I absolutely cannot remember Sheila having this baby, yet other storyline I remember well.

Lots? of women looked much older in the 80s - my mum dressed and had her hair done like Annabel and she would have been 53 in ‘84. She had been dressing like that since she was about 25 and still looked like that to the end 🤣

I don’t know Dean Sullivan died.

He was gay in real life and a little camp. Quite different to the character he played as Jimmy Corkhill.

Sue Johnston, Sheila Grant would have been my age around early 40s in the mid 80s.
She looked older but now looks good for her current age..
People did look older in the 80s..

Well that's one of the most realistic labours I've seen on a soap. Makes a refreshing change from the first twinge to giving birth within 5 min!

I have just started watching this. I vaguely remember Claire in it when I very first started watching Brookside in the 80s. I don’t remember Sheila being pregnant though.

I don't remember the Grants having a baby at all.

I just looked it up and Claire was in Brookside from 1985 until 1990

Funny seeing London in the 80s and how different access to Downing St was!
