Tales of an average Northern working class street that’s home to three widows of serial killers, including one whose brother is also a serial killer.

Rufus is so unRufuslike that I can't connect the name to the character at all. That said, he puts me in mind of someone else in an annoying, low-level, mildly comic role, and I can't quite get my brain to land on who it is.
I've already discarded the finer details of Stephen's great contract negotiation/blackmail stunt. But I'm sure it'll lead to a fruitful and trusting business relationship.

For the storyline to work and have real impact, someone more central to the show will have to die (or at least be in major peril). Leo and Teddy are mere cannon fodder.

My money is on either Carla or Sarah uncovering the truth, confronting Stephen and then narrowly avoiding being his next victim - possibly killing him in self-defence. Most likely Sarah.

My money is on Carla, she's suddenly in every episode and a big pointed discussion with Sarah over her " brew" and a huge mug with Boss on it.
Carla's not daft and will be a bit suspicious about what he's up to.
Sarah is pissed off at making the tea so Stephen will volunteer and put whatever drugs Rufus had - LSD, is that even a thing these daysinto Carla's brew, so it "distorts
her thinking" .

*All speculation but the tea thing was so over egged.

DahliaMacNamara · 14/02/2023 14:11

Those eyes of Stephen's were practically goggling when Sarah mentioned Carla's psychosis. So yeah, like @Snoredoeurve I can't help thinking he won't be able to resist the temptation to slip something extra into her tea to get that strand of plotline in motion, now that the means have landed so serendipitously into his hands.
It's like a window onto real life. Fucksake.

He reminds me of a Frankie Boyle/Elvis Costello in his younger days cross.

Far too many people living in those tiny terraced houses. So unrealistic it's a joke.

I don’t understand how it’s meant to work at Eileen’s at all. I used to live on a terraced row very similar to Coronation St and they are 2-up 2-down. So 2 living rooms downstairs plus kitchen at back, and 2 bedrooms upstairs plus bathroom at back. None of these rooms are big. Assuming the downstairs front room is being used as a bedroom, that gives them 3 beds only. No basement (possibly they’d have a small cellar but no one’s ever mentioned it), and often the attics are linked so I don’t know if there’d be scope to convert. And they have Eileen, Todd, Sean, Dylan and Mary (?) living there?
I know I’m overthinking it. 😂

eggandonion · 14/02/2023 16:40

I think Curly had an attic conversion for his telescope, and Tyrone might have one done by a dodgy builder. I lived in a tiny terrace, really with the front room used as a bedroom, 4 adults would be a squeeze.
And most people had knocked through the wall between the front living room and dining room kitchen. So 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 kids would be a squash.
Im overthinking too.

FlibbertyGibbitt · 14/02/2023 17:05

Have Peter and Carla moved into a trendy new pad ? Must have missed that as I thought they were living at Ken’s.

NCTDN · 14/02/2023 18:52

I saw on fb that Peter and Carla live above the cab office.

lollipoprainbow · 14/02/2023 19:29

@JemimaTab don't forget George too!

So where Lloyd lived at one point (red dwarf guy)

Yes the houses are small but they only have a couple of characters in it at once rather than whole household

Had to laugh when Mary invited Brian to stay there, it's not even her house

Didn't Hope kidnap Sam and keep him up there at one point?

TheFifthTellytubby · 14/02/2023 19:39

Sorry - that should have been a reply to whoever mentioned Tyrone's dodgy loft conversion!

Yes - she offered Eilash's new sofa, no less! 😧😂

Cannot think of the name of the woman lawyer who arrived recently on the street - Glorys aunt? but my has she become a much better actress since getting her hair done. Much better. Hair doth maketh the woman.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 14/02/2023 23:20

Joseph ran ways and she hid him there.

I do wonder why on earth she’s still on the Street though. Since she’s arrived, there’s been a terrorist attack, a stabbing, and the chap she was (apparently) interested in turned out to be some kind of drug runner / crime lord. I think I’d be off to gentler pastures after all that.

eggandonion · 15/02/2023 08:18

Adam doesn't seem to treat her as a fellow professional, i don't know if she is a partner in the firm. He bosses her around.
She needs a nice boyfriend. That usually happens.

JemimaTab · 15/02/2023 13:03

Or a horrible boyfriend! That often happens.
Usually they just pair people up with whoever is around who happens to be single, regardless of suitability, so we’ll see.

eggandonion · 15/02/2023 13:41

Is there a single male who isn't involved in the sean paul todd billy laurence scene, or her brother?
They might have to import a new man from Rosamund Street.

Pseudonamed · 15/02/2023 13:52

Is there a straight man available? Maybe she will have an affair with adam and give him his baby.

Deadringer · 15/02/2023 13:59

Maybe Sarah will have an affair with Michael and Dee Dee will console Adam.

Thanks - it was Joseph, of course!

FeltCarrot · 15/02/2023 20:19

Sappy Summer “only” got 2 A levels but still gets an unconditional offer from Manchester Uni?!
(I put only in quotation marks because it’s still a great achievement, just not enough for MU I would have thought.)

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 15/02/2023 20:42

Am I the only one thinking that these “amazing designs” Michael has come up with are the kind of tat you can’t move for on the internet? Romper suits with “Daddy’s Little Superstar” and other such trite sayings printed on them are ten a penny. Would Carla and Sarah really be at loggerheads over them?

woodhill · 15/02/2023 21:02

Funny how Carla's work pc was not logged out automatically

Mine does after 10 mins or so

Why is Sarah not rushing home to Harry. Must have the cheapest childcare in the country
