Tales of an average Northern working class street that’s home to three widows of serial killers, including one whose brother is also a serial killer.

My god that niece of Roy's (Nina?) is the world's worst actress... Everything is over-pronounced with a funny facial expression Confused Please get rid of her

Iwantacampervan · 12/02/2023 09:28

In Classic Corrie we currently have Richard Hillman as the bad guy and Stephen in the present day (both related to Gail in some way). I feel that Richard's evil path was much better written especially as he didn't pull awful facial expressions.
On another note, do characters like Rufus still exist in the real world - I would not have entertained him and his 'humour'.

Lorrymum · 12/02/2023 10:37

By the time Stephen is revealed as a murderer the emotional impact will be lost. People will hardly remember or care who Leo and Teddy were.

Helendegenerate · 12/02/2023 10:56

@SchoolTripDrama

My thoughts exactly. We've had it with Max/Daisy/Carla and her adenoidal voice.
Silly voices which grate and annoy seem to be the way "proper acting" is advised.

For sure!

She comes across that way at first, but I'm kind of used to her now!

For the storyline to work and have real impact, someone more central to the show will have to die (or at least be in major peril). Leo and Teddy are mere cannon fodder.

My money is on either Carla or Sarah uncovering the truth, confronting Stephen and then narrowly avoiding being his next victim - possibly killing him in self-defence. Most likely Sarah.

Clawdy · 12/02/2023 17:19

Didn't Sarah kill Callum in self-defence though? Would they do that storyline twice? Maybe!

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 12/02/2023 17:23

It was Kylie who actually killed him in defence of Sarah, but yes, it would be a very similar storyline - although this time she wouldn’t need to cover it up.

Mind you, Carla killed Tony Gordon in self-defence, so it’s been done from her perspective too 😄

Have they all killed someone or tried to kill someone or been involved somehow with attempts to kill someone?

In a beautiful twist of irony perhaps it's only George the funeral director and his sister Glenda that haven't.

HazelBite · 12/02/2023 17:59

I think Steven will dissapear before all his dastardly deeds are dicovered it will all unfold very slowly.

thenightsky · 12/02/2023 21:02

Bloody hell... I'd forgotten that!!! It was a good, dramatic storyline that one.

thenightsky · 13/02/2023 21:19

Zoned out completely tonight. Peter in the police station WTF? Sean whining on sofa WTF? Something with murderer canadian bloke and bloke in glasses having heart attack in hotel WTF?

Clawdy · 13/02/2023 21:20

More silly storylines tonight. Peter and the motorbike, Rufus and the heart attack, and Mary and Brian!

eggandonion · 13/02/2023 22:24

Brian, Tracey and Tallboy as flatmates, lots of hilarity. Where is Summer?

TellingBone · 13/02/2023 22:50

Yes, some silly storylines. Too far-fetched. I do prefer 'everyday' stuff to big crime/gangster/drugs/murder stuff though. Oh for a happy medium.

ajandjjmum · 14/02/2023 10:30

So are they going to find Rufus dead in the hospital - another murder to add to Stephen's tally? Sign this document - and then, oops, I killed you anyway! (pure speculation!!!)

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 14/02/2023 10:33

I haven’t seen last night’s yet, but does anyone get the horrible feeling that Peter’s swap “storyline” is designed to make him as dull as possible so that Carla will have an affair? She was making noises about feeling like she was in a rut on NYE…

Not much point having a business contract with someone who's dead, though - unless presumably someone takes over from him at his firm? I got the impression he ran his own business. 🤔

thenightsky · 14/02/2023 10:47

So has Lawrence dumped Sean then and, if so, why? Did he get his money back for the Swiss Alps holiday that didn't happen?

I've never been closer to ending my viewing of Corrie, which I've followed since the late 70s.

mattyd · 14/02/2023 10:58

Todd.... 'Calm down Sean, I said 'sacked him off', made me cringe. Went straight over DH's head, but he is a bit deaf these days.

Helendegenerate · 14/02/2023 11:07

@mattyd Hmmmm yes when Corrie writes innuendos like that I do wonder who these writers are. Am no prude but that was disgusting. It's on early evening, not meant to be for adults only.

Big thumbs down from me.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 14/02/2023 11:16

Jodie Prenger gets all the filthiest lines 😲

I was assuming his business was a decent size and would have a management structure in place to keep it going. I may well be wrong - but a big deal was made of the contract that would set up Sarah and Michael, so presumably more than a small setup. Maybe?

Quite possibly. Or maybe Stephen was simply out for revenge at all costs - he's now in the habit of kiling anyone who stands in his way. Presumably Carla would have to keep her side of the bargain and give him his job back - after all, it was hardly his fault that the new customer popped his clogs, was it?🤔

Incidentally, in Classic Corrie, Richard Hillmann has just bumped off his first wife (who was reincarnated years later as Violet Buckle in Call the Midwife). Interesting that his first kill was also an "accident" when Duggie Ferguson fell through the banister ... this storyline has been done before. And both villains closely connected to Gail, who seems to have no luck at all with the men in her life... 🙄
