Can't decide if I like the new series or not.

I am glad it's back dont want to feel it is box ticking to make sure it covers topics, great if it feels naturally done

Goingforplatinum · 03/01/2023 20:51

I think I need to see it as a new program and not maurn over the old characters like Tom, Grantley and Steph.

OP posts:
Goingforplatinum · 03/01/2023 20:57

Well I didn't expect that.

I'm sobbing! I can't believe they just did that!!!

I said I would never forgive them after Tom but I managed to put my heartache aside for this new series.

So so sad 😭

Ginger1982 · 03/01/2023 21:01

Who died?

Ginger1982 · 03/01/2023 21:03

Ah, just seen it!

carben · 03/01/2023 21:03

It's going to be something to do with the traffic accident...or not...

rainbowlou · 03/01/2023 21:04

I was not expecting that!
Does anyone know the song that was playing at the end?

Totallyaddictedtoshoes · 03/01/2023 21:05

Loved it right from the off, it felt like the original WR before they moved it to Scotland. So glad it's back, such a sad ending (tho didn't really come as a surprise). Looking forward to next week.

Meredusoleil · 03/01/2023 21:10

Wtaf just happened?!? Did Chloe actually die? Surely not. The car barely touched her ffs.

I thought it was all looking too cosy in the Charles household for it to last 😬

choc27 · 03/01/2023 21:10

Loved it! Can't believe that happened though. Didn't think they would that after what happened to Izzy. That poor family!

Mybonnielad · 03/01/2023 21:13

I'm not sure about the new series. I don't feel we are fully invested in the characters yet. Yes, so sad that Chlo died. I heard the actress was back in the new series but didn't realize for how short a time.

RagingWoke · 03/01/2023 21:17

Episode 1 was an emotional rollercoaster! And then when Janece mentioned Grantley 😭😭😭

The acting is questionable at times, but I'm so glad it's back! So far they've done well between call backs and introducing new characters.

Goingforplatinum · 03/01/2023 21:18

When was Grantley mentioned?? I didn't hear that.

Oh no!!!!! I can’t believe that I’ve missed this. I was an avid Waterloo Road fan and was so sorry that it ended (and I was ALWAYS trying to find out what songs/music was used in different episodes.) As I’m living in Ireland I can’t use BBC I player😭 Oh well, I’ve set it up to record next week’s episode, and, the silver lining is that, while scrolling through the weeks programmes on BBC, I realised that The Apprentice is starting on Thursday. Happy days!

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 03/01/2023 21:23

They can fuck right off with that. Jesus. I loved Chlo right back in the beginning.

I didn't even see Janece. Let alone hear Grantley mentioned.

Neither did I?!

It's repeated on BBC3 on Friday 7pm

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 03/01/2023 21:26

Did anyone else get pissed off with the filming style. All soft blurred backgrounds. It didn't feel as "real" as the old days?

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 03/01/2023 21:27

In wondering if @RagingWoke has watched more episodes (they are all on iplayer) in which case we need to clarify whether this thread is spoiler free. As in discussed at the pace the episodes are shown live.

Or maybe she's talking about Series 1 Epsiode 1 rather than the new series which started tonight?

Flowerfairy101 · 03/01/2023 21:36

Well I thought this would be a warm, cosy trip down memory lane and now I've been bawling my eyes out for 20 minutes.

RagingWoke · 03/01/2023 21:37

Well aware, I'm on episode 3 of the reboot now... there's a good chance I'll be finishing tonight.

The questionable acting has been a theme from the start though!

XanaduKira · 03/01/2023 21:38

I thought it was so sad too! Knew straight away when she was knocked down and they mentioned her hitting her head, that she would die.

I've high hopes for the series. I can't remember what happened with Kim's baby - hadn't she kidnapped a child at one point?
