Can't decide if I like the new series or not.

Which one is Caz @itsgettingweird ?

Caz is the girl whose hair was dyed red by the paint people were throwing.

XanaduKira · 04/01/2023 09:33

Kym Marsh's daughter (in the show obviously!)?

RagingWoke · 04/01/2023 11:08

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 03/01/2023 23:09

@RagingWoke thanks for the spoilers ffs.

Please can we keep this thread spoiler free?

Was there that many spoilers? I thought I'd talked about the old series.

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 04/01/2023 11:21

You were posting about "the funeral" and the context made it almost definitely about Chlo's funeral. And as you said you were on episode 3 of the new series you were well aware what you were posting about.

TitsInAbsentia · 04/01/2023 18:03

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo why did they do that so soon! I mean yes, clearly it angles the story arc but awww, was just thinking how cute a young romance had gone on to a steady family :(

x2boys · 04/01/2023 19:55

Haven't seen it yet ,is it bsck.in Rochdale ?
Are they.pretending the Scotland years never happened?

No, it’s a school with a different name but the kids protest against it because it was named after someone who was racist. So they get given a new available name, a school that was closed down ten years ago- Waterloo road

Reindear · 04/01/2023 22:03

I’m watching on iPlayer and am on episode 4. I’m quite liking it- it’s not as good as the old one but isn’t bad. With the exception of Danny and Kelly-Jo, the kids acting is a bit shite though

SnowlayRoundabout · 04/01/2023 23:23

I don't think the writers have taken too much trouble to find out how schools are run nowadays. We haven't had LEAs for at least 10 years, and it was amazing how the head and some local authority official could unilaterally decide to change the school name without once involving the governors, let alone consulting parents. And did the head say they chose "Waterloo Road" because it was next on the local authority list? What list would that be, then? And it was ever so slightly surprising that the Head of English didn't recognise her new departmental recruit, wouldn't she have interviewed her?

The reality is that almost certainly a school like that would have become an academy some time ago, and the LA would hardly be in the picture at all. I can't really see some hard-nosed academy trust employing a social worker, either.

I didn't see the spoiler and have only seen episode 1, but to be fair if that is all the message in question said it wouldn't be a spoiler for me. Surely no-one is in any doubt that Chloe has snuffed it?

caravanbuckie · 04/01/2023 23:27

@SnowlayRoundabout

There was much more given away, you didn't see it.

XanaduKira · 04/01/2023 23:36

I saw the 'spoiler' @caravanbuckie and there really wasn't anything much given away at all.

There was more in it than the fact that a funeral took place.

XanaduKira · 04/01/2023 23:40

Not much more at all.

I think we should let it go now though and get back to enjoying the show. Not sure what anyone achieves from continually hammering someone who has apologised and given the 'spoiler' has since been removed.

Goingforplatinum · 05/01/2023 06:24

I really like Kim Marsh in it, I've always loved the dinner ladies though 🤣.

Some of the acting was questionable, I'm hoping it gets better

I've finished all the episodes already, over 2 days. Won't spoil, but I loved it. Got so invested!! Can't believe there's only 7 episodes tho :(

I did the same and am a bit sad there's no more. Hope it gets a longer second series!

marypoppinsreturns · 06/01/2023 19:11

I've binged all the new episodes too, and have somehow found myself back at the start of series one again!

woodhill · 06/01/2023 19:42

I'm still ploughing through the repeats,

I'm on series 8. DH moans when I watch it

Preferred the old episodes tbh

Jifmicroliquid · 06/01/2023 19:46

I thought the kids acting was overall pretty bad. The lad who played Danny was good and the girl who played Kelly-Jo, but the rest weren’t great.

The kids behaviour in general was much better than the old Waterloo Road used to be!

Goingforplatinum · 06/01/2023 20:15

I rewatched them all again ready for the new series.

OP posts:
unvillage · 07/01/2023 17:53

I really like Kelly-Jo.

bluepencils1 · 07/01/2023 20:38

I fancy watching this as there's not a single other thing to watch at the minute that I'm interested in. Question is do I need to watch all the series or is it a different story line/characters and can I just start with the new one?

Goingforplatinum · 07/01/2023 21:12

You can just start from the new series. But the old ones are good if you need something to binge watch.
