Also could "presents 4 Ryan" be a threat rather than a code or something? What if TLR is being manipulated by threats to Ryan and that's why he needs to get out?

Perhaps Claire feels able to betray Catherine because there is a threat to Ryan that seems more dangerous than TLR and visiting TLR is somehow keeping Ryan safe? Maybe he needs to deliver some contraband to the prison or the OCG will harm Ryan and his family?

storminabuttercup · 09/01/2023 17:56

The 'jumpsuit' comment reminded me, and sorry if it's been discussed but do prisoners really wear those? I'm assuming it was something to do with leaving the prison to go to the station but they are rather garish aren't they? Never seen that before and I've watched a fair few crime programmes.

Ooh, I think you might be onto something there.

I think the pharmacist will kill himself - overdosing from his own stocks. I think his wife works too. She always looks well dressed and busy in the house in a morning/evening like she’s been out at work.

Daniel and Annie brought Ryan skydiving tickets in Sheffield for his birthday. I think it was just a red herring thought to make us think it was them taking Ryan.

What does OCG mean? I can’t follow that.

Could Neil be TLR brother/cousin? I find it hard to believe he’s his dad. Neil’s definitely involved in the drugs ring somehow and is being threatened.

I think Catherine’s ex-husband is going to get killed by the kinevic gang. I did for a brief minute wonder if they might get back together, but I think he’ll be killed before that happens.

I do worry about the child actors involved in the domestic violence story. 😮 The child in the coat is going to kill her dad somehow!

Not sure about the PE teacher. Hope it’s a slow painful death!

It is an escape suit, not standard issue just used for prisoners who have attempted to escape.

So for my prediction I will have Catherine in a grey tracksuit

OCG = organised crime group

Poke · 09/01/2023 18:05

Yes, I think Catherine could possibly end up in prison or dead. There’s no way she’s going off in that Landrover.

Maybe doing something to protect Ryan?

TwoMonthsOff · 09/01/2023 18:06

@POKE Organised Crime Gang

Sorry the PE teacher is the child in the coats dad, I knew that. I think he will be killed, maybe by his wife or by his children somehow. His wife will get a prison sentence, but all will be ok in the end.

BoreOfWhabylon · 09/01/2023 18:23

Vile PE teacher is, I think, isolating and grooming boys before sexually abusing them.

He will try it on Ryan and will be killed - by Ryan, TLR, Catherine or AN Other

I don’t think anything will happen to Alison even if she gets a parking fine - it is a civil offence not a criminal offence these days. Unless Alison had a curfew and wasn’t allowed to travel out of the area (which I can’t see would be a Term of probation but perhaps it would be). Unless Catherine wasn’t insured on car so drove a car without insurance?

Where? Another crack addict here with the whiskey being wafted in front of me......

Poke · 09/01/2023 18:45

Another thing that stopped me from sleeping last night… the line of prisoners queuing up for their dinner. How scary were they?? I had to triple check my doors and windows were locked last night.

TokyoSushi · 09/01/2023 18:47

I can't find a trailer for episode 3, but if you Google 'Happy Valley Season 3 Episode 3' there's a tiny synopsis for those of the peeking persuasion!

storminabuttercup · 09/01/2023 18:47

I can't believe a high risk prisoner like TLR is allowed to work in the kitchen.
Ok so maybe he won't get knives but there's hot stuff

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2023 18:50

Wow. Just seen.

Day to day life got in the way

So many of you now think Tommy isn't Ryan's dad

But that ish Neil ......

Can it be noted that blondes said that first !! 😛

So much happened in just one hour

So Claire and Neil. Surprised about her but she obv feels bad or else would be in the prison with them

Pe teacher deserves Tommy to kick his head in

And I never say things like that !!

He is def picking on Ryan but hated the fact that Catherine knows his private life and changed tune in head teachers classroom

More to write but work is calling. Will be back lol

When Ross Kemp was In Barlinnie kitchen the knives are locked down and counted in and out again after each shift by an officer

Madcap theory no.1137: Ryan has some issues/addiction problems. Neil and Claire have been taking him to Sheffield for counselling or therapy sessions. Closer to home and Catherine would have been bound to find out. TLR has been having his contacts keep an eye on Ryan and has found out. He's manipulated or paid off a prison worker to falsify the records and also exerted his influence on the woman who initially reported seeing Ryan at the prison. He's doing this just to fuck with Catherine's head.

I don't think Neil is a villian. I think his own family issues have made him over-invested in Ryan, and he likes the ready-made family dynamic with Claire and Ryan.

I don't really like the idea that Becky was abused by her father or brother, that TLR didn't really rape her, or that Ryan isn't TLR's son. Catherine made it so clear in the first series that Becky was the victim of a vicious, violent rape that any change in that storyline would play into undermining tropes about rape victims.

Madcap theory no. 2382: I know that many children in abusive families live with the feeling that they will have to rescue or protect their mother. I wonder if the little girl who never takes off her coat has a knife under there? She's going around fearing that she'll have to save her mother from her father one day, but perhaps she'll end up stabbing the pharmacist or a gangster.

Will the pharmacist kill the PE teacher and his wife and then Ryan come under suspicion? I have a horrible feeling that Jo's threats to the pharmacist could lead to the whole family dying, either through poisoning or the criminal gang deciding to shut them up. Perhaps Ryan will get the blame for killing the PE teacher but an escaped TLR will take the rap for him?

Goonergirl14 · 09/01/2023 18:59

I think there is something dodgy about the shop Neil works in hence the reason they wouldn't give Claire a job in season 2.

Autumnnewname · 09/01/2023 19:03

Love all the speculation

I had to go back and rewatch series 1 and 2 as I forgot so much.

Hope Catherine's ex doesn't get murdered although suspect he might
