Yes Foxxy, I can see Alison being a big help to her each week.

AlmondBake · 08/01/2023 22:28

Love the reference in The Guardian that never has a low speed chase been more unbearably tense!

PLEASE don't let them kill her off!!!

Neil is Tommys dad, mark my words. He’s been playing the long game being with Claire, waiting for the no-contact order to expire so that he can facilitate contact.

Rollergirl11 · 08/01/2023 22:33

Revenge is a dish best served cold, haven’t we heard Tommy say this in the last series? This makes me think that he’s still only trying to hurt Catherine rather than genuinely wanting a relationship with Ryan.

So why is Neil doing this? Is he Tommy’s Dad?

jaicobain · 08/01/2023 22:36

It’s all adding up for Neil to be Tommy’s dad. ‘Our Ryan’…him going in to the prison with Ryan rather than Claire…the way he suddenly popped up in series 2…100%.

Netaporter · 08/01/2023 22:37

So…. What an episode.

my predictions are this far unchanged. Susan Lynch/Alison reappearance is owing to the parallel of wrong’uns being the product of family abuse. I thought it might be Daniel but the heavy presence of the ex DH indicates it could be him.

still think con O’Neill could be TLR Dad.

loved the cafe/Claire scenes, so tense. And the PE teacher.

agree I thought that the newsagent/presents for Ryan involved Neil working there plus presents likely to be fags given she found the lighter during the school search plus fags are a standard prison currency?

love, love, loved it.

EdieLedwell · 08/01/2023 22:37

That's an excellent theory

EdieLedwell · 08/01/2023 22:38

Also I predict the wife and the pharmacist will kill the teacher and Ryan will be accused of it

LuluBlakey1 · 08/01/2023 22:40

Knew it was Claire and Neil! I think Catherine is trying to get her head around it being Claire- she knows Claire is weak and Neil even weaker and very needy. She is sort of going through steps to make sure it is true and try to understand the whats/hows/whys of it. She's kind of testing Claire to see if Claire is prepared to lie outright to her and deceive her. I couldn't excuse Claire by blaming Neil- she knows exactly what she's doing and that Catherine will be devastated so she's made a choice. I think she and Neil are shown as pathetic characters (sad, inadequate people) but how many people have those sides to them? Lots of us to one degree or another.
I wonder if Catherine will forgive her? Or perhaps Catherine will leave it unsettled and drive off into the Himalayas in her land-rover.

DH has just gone to bed saying (quite seriously) 'I need to think about this and sort it out in my head. I've got loads of ideas about where it might all go. Can we talk about it again tomorrow night and see what we both think by then?'
I said yes and he actually looked pleased at the thought.🙄

jaicobain · 08/01/2023 22:40

If Neil is TLR dad, has he known all along and been playing the long game? Is that why he popped up back in 2016 but has had to wait for the no-contact order to expire to facilitate contact between TLR and Ryan, so in the meantime has been building up trust with Claire?

Netaporter · 08/01/2023 22:40

to clarify…I think TLR thinks he’s Ryan’s Dad. He may not be. Con O’Neil deffo related to TLR. However, I think there is a strong possibility Ryan’s Dad may be a Cawood family member.

Wisterical · 08/01/2023 22:44

@Netaporter I also think exDH is Ryan's father. And that Alison has been bought back in as a device for Catherine to realise this (as their friendship develops and Alison talks about her abuse and pregnancy Catherine eventually sees similarities in what Alison tells her and Becky's behaviour).

HRTQueen · 08/01/2023 22:44

I don’t think Clair was initially being manipulated as she lives through other people, Catherine, those who has worked with she is too over involved and I think Neil likes the drama as he has lost a lot in his life. No doubt they are now

AutisticLegoLover · 08/01/2023 22:51

By 'eck lass.

jaicobain · 08/01/2023 22:51

Maybe Claire is being blackmailed by Neil (aka Tommy’s dad) or being coercively controlled so is forced to go along with it.

jaicobain · 08/01/2023 22:53

I was shocked by the relatively calm reaction from Catherine. As a PP said, probably to do with the passage of time and her acknowledgment that Ryan is a young man with his own opinions now and not a little boy who needs sheltering. She seems more upset by Claire’s betrayal than the idea of Ryan seeing TLR.

This has never crossed my mind. Was ex-DH Catherine's daughter's father or step-father?
The Neil being related to TLR makes sense- DH suggested that tonight and I was surprised I'd not thought of it before now. 'Our Ryan'.

Wisterical · 08/01/2023 22:58

@LuluBlakey1 exDH is Becky's father.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 08/01/2023 22:58

Mind. Blown.

Father I think. So maybe she actually was having a relationship with TLR. Was being abused by her dad. Couldn’t cope with it and killed herself?

NashvilleQueen · 08/01/2023 22:59

Just as an aside I quite fancy the acting sergeant

AutisticLegoLover · 08/01/2023 23:01

Our Ryan was a big clue I think. A slip of the tongue for Neil but telling for us.

Does anyone else find themselves thinking about the show in a Yorkshire accent? I have estranged Yorkshire family and my Dad spent many years of his life there so I think it might be my Yorkshire genes trying to get out.

Northernexile · 08/01/2023 23:01

I think these incest theories re Becky are wide of the mark. I think Catherine’s ex is featuring more simply because he is going to get into a mess investigating the Knezevics (no idea how to spell that!)

Janieread · 08/01/2023 23:03

The knezevics will murder Catherine.
