@TottersBlankly i’m off to take some HRT 😂

tbf, we don’t watch HV for the joy though do we? 🤣

Netaporter · 07/01/2023 07:43

I also wonder if you are Sally Wainwright if you loiter on threads like this or on Twitter, thinking ‘nope losers, that’s not what happens’ or ‘damn, that would’ve been a great storyline’ 😂

colourmebladd · 07/01/2023 08:51

Yes, the whole thing for Daniel was that at the height of her grief, Catherine had said it should have been him that died. Hence vitriol towards Becky. Daniel was really understandably fucked up and it was great to see those issues being talked about and him finding a way forward with his mum and Ryan.

PrincessScarlett · 07/01/2023 09:03

Oh @Netaporter !! Agree, very dark and totally in keeping with SW.

I also like (if that is the right word) the idea of TLR dying whilst saving Ryan. Agree that he's done too many awful things to ever be accepted as a Disney dad but him dying would allow Catherine closure over Becky and acceptance towards TLR as Ryan's dad and she could then drive off into the sunset.

PrincessScarlett · 07/01/2023 09:05

Good point about the recap showing Catherine comforting the mum that had shot her son!

Can't wait for tomorrow night!!

PrincessScarlett · 07/01/2023 09:05

I'm going to be watching Daniel like a hawk now 🤣

I wonder that too.
The same with celebrities or royalty being discussed.
Are they Mimsnetters and do they obviously namechange and join the narrative ? Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2023 09:23

Yes to be the loving son being told I wish you were dead must be awful

but his hatred for his dead sister is awful

tho agree is Tommy sure saving Ryan that would be a good ending

also if they did. A s4 but flashbacks /set in the past so we see Becky and tommys relationship before she was preg

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2023 09:25

That, and the statement, "just your ordinary tale of country folk"...

if TLR saved Ryan, that would be awful...even if TLR died doing it, he'd have martyred himself....which reminds me, I wondered about the style of the long hair, and martyrdom, as soon as I saw him.

I can't believe it's been seven years, the show has that big an impact, I feel like I watched the last two seasons yesterday.

upinaballoon · 07/01/2023 11:05

I didn't watch HV before so I've caught up with S1 on I Player and just started S2. I think it would be wise for me to re-watch S3 E1 before tomorrow night.
I saw James Norton on Graham Norton. Who saw it? He was asked if anyone dies and I thought he kept an excellent straight face, and gave nothing away.
You just can't watch everything but sometimes you can miss really good things, which I did. Thank goodness for repeats and I Player!

PrincessScarlett · 07/01/2023 11:07

Gutted I missed James Norton on Graham Norton

Don't you have iPlayer? Or it may be on YouTube?

CuriousMama · 07/01/2023 11:20

@PrincessScarlett see if you can watch that? It's a snippet.

PrincessScarlett · 07/01/2023 11:21

Thanks @CuriousMama will have a look before tomorrow

TottersBlankly · 07/01/2023 12:00

I can never comprehend how JN looks so completely different as himself. It’s not the same face at all!

Rollergirl11 · 07/01/2023 12:56

I think that the flashback to the Susan Lynch character killing her own son at the farm because she realised he is a wrong’un at the start of the episode is relevant. I think this is how the series might end. Catherine kills her own son after realising she missed abuse within her own home?

I agree that this is relevant but I think for different reasons. In both Seasons 1 and 2 Catherine has struggled with the deeply unsettling suspicion that Ryan is like his father, that he is also a wrong’un. It has been kind of unspoken but I think it forms the basis for all 3 series and will be be explored in full this series now that Ryan is coming of age. And also ties in with why SW waited so long for this series, so that Ryan’s character is old enough to do the storyline justice.

Just seen James Norton on Graham Norton. He said that TLR loves Ryan. From what we have seen so far, I would say that TLR rather has a possessive family annihilator's attitude towards Ryan, but his comment makes me think that maybe TLR could die saving Ryan either from the gangsters or from Horrible PE Teacher.

I get the family annihilator vibe, too.

But yes - I could see him sacrificing himself to save Ryan. "This child is MINE. I decide if he lives or dies - not you". sort of thing.

I could see him regarding Ryan as "his property" and nobody else gets a say.

That would be a very interesting take . . .

I'm getting more and more excited about this entire series (and God knows I was as high as a kite to start off with!)

Oh, my word, he's handsome, isn't he.

I like his TLR voice better than his real one, though.

TottersBlankly · 07/01/2023 13:56

A touch too smiley and unthreatening?

I liked his cardigan …

TottersBlankly · 07/01/2023 13:59

Although it seemed like something chosen by a stylist - to make him look sweet and gentle and metro-whatever. Rather than a psychopath!

LadyEloise1 · 07/01/2023 14:53

@Emotionalsupportviper ".......Oh my word he's handsome......."

Watch him in "Nowhere Special" and your heart will break.

I was a blubbering mess on a plane watching it. Blush

PrincessScarlett · 07/01/2023 15:33

James Norton is such a versatile actor. From psychopath TLR to law abiding and gentle vicar in Grantchester.

mizu · 07/01/2023 19:08

Yes, indeed very, very handsome.
