Just rewatched series one and two to refresh myself. Sarah Lancashire is so good.

Why was her character a sergeant again? Was she a detective but downgraded?

I got to the point where I had to scan through Shirley Henderson's scenes I couldn't hand her awful delivery

Jumbocoffee · 02/01/2023 11:19

Loved the first episode yesterday. I don’t want to wait until next Sunday!

DorritLittle · 02/01/2023 11:23

Loved it. It were reet good.

LBFseBrom · 02/01/2023 14:26

I enjoyed it too, very much. Last night's telly wasn't bad at all with the new series of Call the Midwife and Happy Valley.

butterpuffed · 02/01/2023 16:06

I loved the first two series and this one looks promising . I really should rewatch the first two series as quite a few years ago but no time to now this one's started !

MavisMcMinty · 02/01/2023 16:39

I rewatched both series over 3 or 4 days - I never intended to watch more than one at a time but they’re so spellbinding it’s hard to press the ‘stop’ button.

sweatervest · 03/01/2023 20:51

I watched Sundays ep again and it was even better. It's like one of those things when every time you watch it you find something you missed previously.
Or I could just really be that thick tbh.

ThePoshUns · 03/01/2023 21:08

Loved the muttered 'twat' at the CID blokes. Really resonated. As did knowing the amount of time left until retirement in hours.

MargotMoon · 03/01/2023 21:10

Just watched S3e1, what a belter!

"I'll leave it to you two...twats"

The script was fantastic as ever.

I think CC will either die (although that would be way too Cassie) or kill TLR and get banged up. Either way, that Jeep isn't even seeing the other side of the Pennines, let alone the foothills of Everest.

I sincerely hope her sister isn't taking Ryan to the prison. Surely she can't be that daft?!

TottersBlankly · 03/01/2023 21:25

Well, it doesn’t look like the accompanying man and woman can be unknown randoms - so I guess we have to prepare ourselves for some major betrayal of Catherine by people close to her …

CanofCant · 04/01/2023 09:18

I'm convinced it's Claire and Neil which is going to have serious repercussions and is such a shame because Claire is Catherine's confidante and rock.

Threadkillacilla · 04/01/2023 09:21

It can't be our Claire, it'd break my heart nvm Catherine.

TottersBlankly · 04/01/2023 09:27

Rather than Clare and Neil, there might be more drama in say Clare and Daniel, or Neil and … not Ann, can’t think who else. That way the betrayal would also split a couple, with regard to their loyalty to Catherine.

TokyoSushi · 04/01/2023 09:37

I think it's definitely something to do with Neil. He's really odd. There was something about the way he spoke to him at the football match that made me think 'oh he's very cosy with Ryan now.'

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/01/2023 10:12

Not sure if this has been mentioned but there is a podcast called Shrine (came originally from Shrine of Duty, the greatest podcast ever made 😂) where they discuss the show episode by episode. I’ve not listened to the HV one but the LOD one is hilarious and very very detailed. Worth a listen.

no idea who the man and woman could be but I hate to think it’s Claire.
I think CC may die in this series, have we been told it’s the final series?

toomuchlaundry · 04/01/2023 10:17

They have definitely said it is the last series. I worry that CC will die at the end.

WhiskersPete · 04/01/2023 10:45

'Ow doooo! Fantastic as ever. So gutted it's the last series.

MavisMcMinty · 04/01/2023 11:07

I hope Wainwright dodges the obvious “death just before retirement” cliche, and I also hope it isn’t Clare and Neil taking Ryan to Sheffield prison, although can’t imagine who else it might be. Hopefully it doesn’t mean a return of the irritating Shirley Henderson.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/01/2023 11:11

I love the little comedy touches throughout. It’s so cleverly written. I also love how it’s not cryptic, it’s laid out very clearly exactly what’s in store. Some dramas require a lot of thinking and rewatching, HV just gets straight to it. I think that makes it more edgy though, in series one the suspense was incredible.

what happened with the little Scottish lady at the end of series 2? Could she be the one taking Ryan to TLR?

BucketofTeaMassiveCake · 04/01/2023 12:37

It's so gripping that the hour goes by very quickly and I can hardly wait for the next episode.

MarshaBradyo · 04/01/2023 12:39

Just started from beginning

Cannot believe how good it is. The acting is insanely good, it’s shot so well, the script is brilliant and I got the sense of holding my breath with the tension

So glad I saw it mentioned on here, really good

Optimist1 · 04/01/2023 13:14

Could it be Catherine's ex and his wife taking Ryan to visit TLR?

Jumbocoffee · 04/01/2023 13:47

I really hope it isn’t Claire and Neil taking Ryan to see TLR.

Sadly, I agree with you @MargotMoon . Featuring the jeep does not bode well for Catherine's retirement. (Very much hope I'm wrong.)

For those with no time to watch the first two series, this was a good, brief update (Somehow I'd got series 1 and 2 switched about in my head.):

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/01/2023 15:46

Brilliant recap! Thanks @ScissorsPaperStone Flowers
