Just a new wee thread for you all 😉

Love it.

I may just record LW for the first time ever purely to witness the self-righteous one's meltdown who herself is no stranger to infidelity, alcohol abuse or cocaine.

I shall watch This Morning as well as Scholfield was particularly po faced about it, he is hardly one to cast judgement.

BeggyMitchell · 27/11/2022 09:12

YY. I haven't watched TM for years because of Scrote-field.

Ponesta · 27/11/2022 09:13

I hardly ever look at Twitter but had a look this morning. I can't believe the frothing on there - don't some of these people, especially celebs, realise we live in a democracy. And it's just a tv programme!

They're going to get a hell of a shock when there's an election and they realise that people vote how they want to and not how they're told to.

Loveveggies · 27/11/2022 09:16

Reading some of the pro MH comments on here, I'm seriously wondering if I've been living in a parallel universe. He was the Health Minister, not a random member of government, who made decisions which resulted in thousands dying whilst at the same time giving contracts to friends who didn't even make PPE. Meanwhile he and his friends were laughing at our gullability just as they are now. He has effectively groomed the other camp mates and even worse some of you. Thankfully, other sites are not reflecting this deification of MH.

WhoDatDen · 27/11/2022 09:30

A couple of weeks ago they were all sneering at Matt Hancock in the jungle, sniping at him and even ITV extended the first eviction expecting it to be MH.

Social media was awash with hate and they were desperate for him to be punished. One by one they have fallen and the furious naysayers have been silenced.

There's another thread on MN saying how stupid people are, why are these daft fuckwits allowed to vote for him - how dare they!! You little Englander, you!

The silent majority are biting back in the way they do best - the public vote 😀

MH for the win!!!!

2Rebecca · 27/11/2022 09:33

The twitter tantrums from people who wanted Mike not Matt in final 3 are bizarre. It's just a TV programme people. If more people had voted for Mike he'd still be there. The self righteous whining is laughable.

Yes! It's just a TV show!
I'm another one who voted Remain, and obviously still feel strongly about the result - but I want to live in a democracy.
And I am so sick of people coming onto threads about IACGMOOH (fuck, that's a long acronym), lecturing and calling people stupid for having a certain view. Just no.

BeggyMitchell · 27/11/2022 09:46

👋🏻 another who voted remain here but accepted the vote because, y'know, democracy ?

So it was the care homes fault? Do you know how difficult it was for care homes to get PPE or even hand sanitiser at the beginning of the pandemic? Have you any idea how difficult it is to isolate someone with dementia when the care sector was suffering from a chronic lack of staff?

Yes it was difficult.

It was a pandemic.

But if you are to blame the government for lack of pandemic planning in the public sector (NHS) then it's also fair enough to hold the private care home sector (remember 84% of care homes are private) equally as responsible for their lack of pandemic planning. Also they accepted these patients and the financial rewards for doing do last minute.

I don't think the government handled it all perfectly. I hated their continuous "we threw a protective ring around care homes" mantra.

However what action they took to do discharge seemingly well patients out of hospital into care homes to free up space for those who were known to be suffering and even dying of covid - I don't believe - was deliberately negligent. It's was a monumental mistake but what would have happened if they hadn't taken this action?

Anyone who knows me on the politics threads knows I really do not like or trust the current Tory party. But I can still have critical thinking over their decisions.

I'm watching this show and judging the celebs on how they are in this show.

After all - no one seems to mind the love for people like BG who went to prison for a sexually motivated crime.

BeggyMitchell · 27/11/2022 09:46

Same here 🤷‍♀️

I wanted to remain.

I also wanted to "get brexit done" and voted accordingly for that. (Which I regret however I think I'd have regretted the alternative!)

But that is democracy.

We all have a right to vote how we think despite the media and social media influencers thinking they have a right to dictate what we do.

And I HATE the fact that when you go against what people think you should do they shut down discussion. Quite simply "you are wrong".

The truth is that not one person in power (be it politics or your boss or the person running your local supermarket) will do everything the way you think they should or suits everything the way you need it in life.

It doesn't work like that in a country of 68 million people!

Blocked · 27/11/2022 09:53

@CatLoaf exactly. So annoying when people who don't even watch the show drop in to announce their opinion, as though we aren't capable of forming opinions on our own. So patronising.

Still it was in a castle - must have been Baltic! I’m cold and I have central heating in a proper house!

I loved the Wales show, it looked really fucking hard! This year feels really 'comfortable'

'So it was the care homes fault?'

No but neither was it all MH's, it was a combination of factors. In an ideal scenario they'd all have been tested before discharge (but tests weren’t available and there was a massive surge of admissions due) or isolated in care homes (though you say staff weren't available to implement infection control measures)

Neither of these happened but all this 'he sent people to care homes to die on Twitter etc is hyperbolic crap. Intelligent people know this, hence the voting I think.

The elderly were always going to be the age group sadly hit hardest whether in care homes or in hospital. If they'd left them all languishing in hospital wards for weeks until testing available then the beds wouldnt have been free for admissions that would have have been much worse.

RocketsMagnificent7 · 27/11/2022 10:03

Yep this year has been so negative. These threads are usually fun. We all have our faves, those we don't like but it's never usually as negative and combative as this years threads have been.

I've barely wanted to comment on those I've liked after seeing the responses others get. This is escapism. I'm not here to argue or be forced into defending an opinion.

I'll hold my hands up, I've entered into a couple of exchanges. And for the record my comments to @Aquarius1234 are tongue in cheek.

Hopefully next year, we'll be back to business as usual.

To add to this it’s very questionable it was even MHs fault. PHE, you know the experts in healthcare, NHS operations etc, are also covered in the same inquiry. I have little doubt this was their recommended option with plenty of arguments to back it and probably deemed the best approach compared to other options considered.

If they hadn’t attempted to clear beds by getting OAPs out and into care homes, what would have happened? We of course will never know but I bet PHE had some ideas and models predicting the possibilities!

Omg yes and they may feature Vorderman and Biggins again doing a telly review who will be so utterly bewildered and horrified by the public votes. Its all just so funny. They thought he'd be first out and could all sneer and tut. I really shouldn't watch daytime telly..

@Mezmer The thing is many people hold dear to the fact that government’s position should not be solving every social issue there is out there. They believe social issues lie with families, the church, the mosque, communities themselves etc. Go and read about Big Government and Small Government and it’ll help you understand the philosophies behind why the left and right vote what they do.

I understand the difference in left wing and right wing ideology thanks. The Conservative Government were happy to channel multi-millions of our taxpayers money to their mates through Covid contracts but they preferred not to extend it to children in most need. Clearly the public did want the Government to help hungry children during the Covid crisis hence the Tories u-turn on the policy (following Rashford's personal account of child poverty.)

My kids and I do like the show normally but I still don't understand wtf a serving politician is doing in a gameshow in the jungle, rather than doing his actual job? Presumably looking to emulate disgraced former Tory MP Neil Hamilton in a post political career sitting on chatshows.

I agree. It's been made political by putting a sitting politician in there which shouldn't have happened. We've had enough of politicians in centre stage through Brexit, pandemic and now cost-of living crisis. Give us back our light entertainment WITHOUT politicians in please!!

Matt striding up the Cyclone was genuinely hilarious - does he even mean to be funny? Or is it accidental?

As soon as I saw him striding up, I knew exactly the song to use. I think he was accidentally being funny, maybe a tactic to get there faster until he got boinged on the head with an inflated ball :)
