I think Fleur and Molly will be in the bottom two with this week's dances, and thanks to Kym not being there, the judges will have to send Molly home. www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/strictlycomedancing/entries/36e7e04f-814c-4c35-a912-eef8a2631db0

I think you might be right. Then again, I can see Ellie's jive being a bit flat and a bit flaily (sorry, Ellie) and getting panned by the judges. Which could of course mean people vote in droves to save her, or could mean people decide she's had her time. Wonderful song for it anyway.

Rumba is a bit of a death dance, so yes, Fleur & Vito might be in trouble.

Samba can also be a death dance, though, and I think Helen is still a bit self-conscious and stiff in the Latin. But the judges would save her against almost anyone in the DO.

Tangos don't seem to be crowd-pleasers, so I fear for Molly.

Hamza & Jowita will be fine. Great track.

Will & Nancy: I can tell they're going to annoy me already Grin Well, Will is anyway. I think he'll be safe though.

nomdegrrr1 · 23/11/2022 13:00

I think it's not exactly about someone having dance experience. I really enjoyed watching the lovely Debbie McGee, and she was a total ringer.

I don't know what it is, but I am just not getting any emotional connection to any of the ones remaining, not even Hamza. I don't understand why I was getting more joy watching Tony dance badly than Molly dancing well. And I loved Ellie S.

mostlydrinkstea · 23/11/2022 13:14

If you are trained in one form of dance it doesn't necessarily help you in others. I've got jazz, contemporary and international folk in my dance repertoire but I really struggle with ballroom. The posture, the shoes and the going backwards makes it all really tricky. The plus side of dance training is that you can probably hear the rhythms. The sportspeople have an advantage as they have a phenomenal work ethic, the musicians have musicality and the actors can act. If there is a show with syncopated Balkan rhythms I could smash it but that is a bit niche.

I think it's Ellie who has the "most dangerous" ones left. (as in likely to cause elimination)

I was wondering how many more #sadstories/dead rellies we have left? And CC? Who's left?

And also what it is that's leaving me perplexed by some of the slebs which is little to do with their dancing.

Helen- the smile doesn't reach her eyes. She wants this as badly as, say, Will, she's clearly very very ambitious. There's nothing wrong with that obvs, but the slightly ditsy northern salt of the earth thing doesn't quite ring true to me. In the VTs it's always "look at daft old me, I'll never manage this, he wants me to do what?!!!" And then she's grittily perfect. She's that girl in class who always says "I'll fail this O'level I know I will/I'll get the bottom mark" and then is always top. Last week when we saw that hesitation - I think it was because for once she did genuinely think she'd not nailed it in the week. All the other times she knows fine well how good she is.

Kym confuses me. Sometimes she acts like she can't be bothered, others like she'd throw the rest of them to the dogs and clamber over their bones to get to the final. Graziano is annoying me this year as well.

Will seems to have sussed out he also needs to ham up the northern lad with heart of gold trope. He realised he was one of the best early on and that ego shows now. Like all good actors the on cue crying is tiresome.

I think Molly is severely handicapped by Carlos in a way that Fleur isn't by Vito. Both outdanced their slebs initially, Carlos still does. I literally didn't notice Molly on Saturday so turned off was I by his gurning and gyrating.

Hamza remains my favourite by dint of his personality but...he's got some tough dances left. Mind you, the judges are now at the proper batshit stage with their scores so he's not going to see any paddle below 9 anytime soon.

Ellie is at the stage the others were about a month ago. She's been hampered by production treating her as goofy funny girl both in frockery and dance choices.

Final at this stage based on the above non technical analysis

Helen
Hamza
Will
Fleur

I still agree it's Hamza's to lose but after Saturday Fleur is right up there and Helen always was. Will first to be eliminated from final.

Order of elimination
Molly (unless DO with Ellie)
Ellie
Kym will be last to go if DO with Ellie or Molly.

Totally agree with what you said about Helen.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 23/11/2022 13:44

It helps in you can pick up routines quickly too — I found learning ballroom step patterns fairly easy because I'd done years of ballet and tap. So I had more time than other beginners to concentrate on technique/posture/arms, because my feet picked up patterns easily.

I feel exactly the same about him. It's very weird and definitively not a newbie thing as I love Jowita - she's my new favourite and Nancy is up there too. Also really like Vito although think Fleur would be better with a more experienced pro but I do like Vito in himself.

Carlos makes my blood run cold. It's a very odd feeling.

I don’t like the partnership between Molly and Carlos. If you look at Hamza/ Jovita, Ellie/ Johannes even Kym/ Graziano there is obviously some kind of chemistry ( I don’t mean sexual chemistry)
Molly and Carlos’ dances just lack something

ChessieFL · 23/11/2022 14:31

Hush seems a very odd choice for a Charleston. Assume Davearch will be jazzing it up a lot!!

Hamza and Jowita have a lovely chemistry. And not sexual! Friendly and caring.

Lampzade · 23/11/2022 16:26

If you want to see a brilliant pro dance. Have a look at this season’s DWTS and watch the pros dancing to ‘Higher’ choreographed by Derek Hough. .
The standard of dancing in DWTS is superior to that in SCD imho.
Some of our pros need to up their game

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 23/11/2022 18:26

Wow, my comment got people more upset than I expected.

Having dance training/lessons when you are at school, especially when school days are long behind you (22 years in Helen’s case) is very different from X-factor where Fleur would have had months of intensive personalised training. Molly also will have had dance lessons at school.

I also feel the same about Jayde - she danced a lot as a child, but not much as a adult, which makes a difference to me.

It does put me off a celebrity if they have extensive dance background which X-factor would have given. As someone said most people have some dance experience, if you have none as you really didn’t like dancing, would you go on the show, but I do want it to be on the lower end.

So yes it is a factor in my voting. I enjoy seeing the development.

EsmaCannonball · 23/11/2022 19:32

Had no idea Kula Shaker did a cover of Hush. Love the Deep Purple version but it's, at best, a samba (a weird, dodgy, would get someone like Aston Merrygold eliminated samba). Are they going to do it like George Formby covering Kula Shaker covering Hush? This Charleston has cheese-induced nightmare potential.

I'm finding Janette increasingly excruciating and shouty on ITT. Even when she's interviewing her best friend it's awkward and forced.

Sunbird24 · 23/11/2022 19:33

I wish she’d asked Craig to explain why all Karen’s steps were disqualified in the Pro Challenge!

xsquared · 23/11/2022 19:56

No couples on ITT tonight. It felt a bit thin without anyone there tonight. Has Molly and Carlos been on it this week? Isn't the surviving couple meant to go on a Tuesday? I hope she's okay.

I thought her steps looked very messy with no definition or any sort of shaping. It looked as if she was just shaking her foot in the air at times.

DameHelena · 23/11/2022 21:47

I suspect you might be more on the money than you think about that 😄 I’m certainly hearing it very much like that in my head.

That's what I think - they are enjoying their dance time together, they have a good laugh and get on well, and that's it.

Emotionalsupportviper · 23/11/2022 21:54

The standard of dancing in DWTS is superior to that in SCD imho, @Lampzade

That's because Strictly has swapped from dancing to entertaining. It was not a good move, oh, no!

cordelia16 · 24/11/2022 18:08

I felt so bad for Karen on last night's ITT. Why include her if she didn't complete any steps properly? Or let her do it over (off screen ofc). Seemed a bit mean.

It's happened before on the pro's challenge with Katya doing jive steps back in 2016. All hers were disqualified.

Sunbird24 · 24/11/2022 18:50

Aw, Cameron got all of his disqualified as well, and Katya lost all but 7! Seems like it would be worth slowing down to be more accurate

Pashazade · 24/11/2022 18:51

Have to say looking like a very tough pro challenge this year! It's those 8 individual steps....

Oh really? I didn't watch that year. Thank you.

FartOutLoudDay · 25/11/2022 10:18

The thing about Helen’s smile not reaching her eyes I’d kind of assumed was down to a wee bit of botox around the eye area!

I read somewhere that Molly had some other event on and that's why she wasn't on ITT yet this week. She will probably be on tonight, I'm guessing.

IReallyLikeCrows · 25/11/2022 15:51

I've missed a whole thread because I wasn't in on Saturday (Jazz age themed party, it was enormous fun and I won best outfit. Get in!)

I really enjoyed the dancing on Saturday (when I eventually watched it on Monday afternoon). It was the first week when there was no dance that was bad and there were more good than average dances which was great. Fleur was brilliant but I did feel like I was watching a Janet Jackson pop video so it didn't really get me in the feels. Hamza's did. That man could do lifts for a living. He makes Jowita seem like a feather. I've never seen anyone on Strictly, not even the professionals, lift as well as he does. Loved Helen's quickstep, and Will's samba. I didn't mind the others although they didn't do too much for me. Tyler was great out of hold but Craig was right about his hips - although a total knob to mention them later when talking to Will - Ellie's American Smooth was sweet but not on anything approaching par with Hamza's, Kym was decent and Mollie, well Mollie was yet again outdanced by Carlos who doesn't seem to have got the memo that it's not all about the professionals. I'm finding him more and more annoying as the series goes on so I'd be quite relieved if he and Mollie went out this week despite her being a good dancer.

Anyway! No parties this weekend and looking forward to tomorrow night's show.
