Boy George is a more terrible person than Matt Hancock and I'm sick of people pretending he isn't

Why does he get a pass for his brutal, clearly sexually motivated crime (he threatened the guy with whips and sex toys) and still have a career?

I'm so irritated I'm having to sound like I'm defending Hancock, a corrupt, inept Tory who cheated on his wife. He personifies everything wrong with Johnston's cabinet, but no he didn't kill thousands, Covid did. The decision to return vulnerable people from hospital to care homes was a terrible one, but we did the exact same thing in Scotland. He isn't a sex offender.

If Boy George had chained up a female sex worker and beat her with an iron bar and threatened to rape her with sex toys he wouldn't have ever had the opportunity to be on TV again.

I was quite gutted when the Tories got in with their big majority in 2019, but even though I don't think they necessarily did a great job on the pandemic, I felt more sympathetic to them because there were NO good decisions. People lauded what was being done in New Zealand and so on, but it didn't work out the way they wanted in the end. They didn't really know what they were dealing with (because nowhere did) and they were subject to immense public pressure and conflicting opinions of various advisory bodies. MH was obviously wrong to break his own rules/laws/guidance and to cheat on his wife, but which of us knows what was going on in his marriage and he was under pressure and scrutiny the like of which no health Secretary has ever experienced before. He looked like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders and I can only imagine the pressure of making the 'right' calls without knowing what they actually were.

He's a health secretary who was chosen for having soft skills and ability to implement others' ideas. The job hardly turned out to be what he anticipated.

BG is being paid the most for doing the least. How can he think its ok to stand and chant while his team mateswalk past him collecting heavy logs, all he does is moan and complain about what he isnt going to do. He is a lazy prima donna and the plan to start a revolution against MH by some of them is pure bullying.

I wish people would stop saying this - there have been many pandemics before the last ones in 1968 and 1957. What is unprecedented is the government taking away the freedom of healthy people which mancock seemed to really enjoy.

I think this is the issue.

Hes in the unenviable position of everyone being angry at him for different reasons.

Some in the thread are angry he took our freedom, while others are angry he didn’t lock down sooner.

As for the poster who said he ‘tortured’ thousands, that’s just ridiculous.

He’s one man, he didn’t fucking invent covid FFs.

That being said, I don’t think he should be in there, because he’s supposed to be working. His constituency must be pissed off. Rightfully so.

But those in the jungle should be very weary of how far they take it, because they might just leave the jungle to find out all the skeletons have tumbled out of their own closets.

Shouldnt Sue, Chris and Charlene also be at work.

MH did not cause the pandemic, he was part of the team reacting to an unprecedented event. I don't agree with the way it was handled but I believe he did what he thought was best acting on advice. I feel sorry for those families who lost loved ones during the pandemic and for anyone who loses a loved one. I feel more sorry for the loss of those years for the young and the damage to their MH and life chances - that is not MH's fault.
I believe that most politicians want to make things better for people but have a different views ideology whilst their views on what is the ideal is different - I acknowledge that this can change and that ambition sometimes is not motivated by this.

This @twelly

and if we were in their shoes would we have done much different

its Easy to say yes but hindsight is a wonderful thing

remember it was all meant to be over in 12w

heading up to 3yrs

yes less people die from it now but I think covid will always be about

GyozaGuiting · 14/11/2022 15:04

I agree Op, I think with Matt Hancock he’s actually not that bright. I think a lot of his mistakes were genuinely because he’s incompetent.
Can’t stand Boy George, he loves himself and thinks we all do.

Twawmyarse · 14/11/2022 15:04

I had no idea BG had done that 😮

ohyouknowwhatshername · 14/11/2022 15:07

I think BG is about 60, but he's got the attitudes of a teenager. "No one tells me what to do" and all that rubbish. It's not a good look for a grown man.

walkinginsunshinekat · 14/11/2022 07:34

Well, you d then have to ask why were millions spent on Nightingales but never used for their intended purpose? i remember at the time NHS workers on here saying we don't have the staff or the equipment for them.
Anyone who still believes the Govt built them for our benefit/safety is gullible but thats beyond the scope of this thread.

So we are left with an awful man who went to jail for sexual abuse and kidnap VS a man who wrecked his family, told us all to lockdown or you'll kill Granny- whilst doing the opposite and took decisions which led to the deaths of 10s of '000s ?

Cold War Steve

I imagine he would love to be sitting in the red chair lording it over the others, being waited on and gossiping with his idle chat.

We don't pay their salaries, its up to them and their bosses or they are self employed.

MH has had the whip withdrawn because parliament is still sitting. While trousering his MP's salary paid from our taxes.

He would. BG seems an absolute poisonous horror ditto Moyles.

I like Walsh, Scarlett and Owen. Just seem nice people without huge egos like BG and CM.

62daisy · 14/11/2022 15:50

I totally agree , a man shouldn’t be bullied , we had more help and advice in this country, than many others . I know it was very at losses ( i know from personal experience) . But every country needed extra ppe , factories were closed , nut regardless of al that , no one should be bullied , he may laugh it off , but inside may feel bad , and its not fair mentally on people. Some people inc celebrities have taken their own lives , because if this type of bullying

62daisy · 14/11/2022 15:51

Agree

Yeah someone with Physics and Maths A Levels and a PPE Degree from Oxford isn’t that bright…

Is he not donating his salary for the time he is in the jungle to charity ?

He claims he will donate 'some' of his fee - that 'some' could be doing a lot of heavy lifting.....

He said at the outset that he would donate more than his annual salary as an MP to charity in his constituency. Looking at the figures, I assume he means he will donate £100K of his fee to charity.

What about the others, what are they doing with the money they are getting, BG certainly doesnt need £500k, his house is on the market for £17m and I doubt MT is struggling to out food on the table.

Rayn22 · 14/11/2022 16:52

When people are saying Matt Hancock should be working. Are MP's not allowed annual leave? I don't think he should have gone in but I definitely don't agree with BG. He is a moaning piece of shit who should be on the sex offenders register!

twelly · 14/11/2022 16:54

I thought it was quite an interesting comment about not taking orders from a tory. I am not a tory voter but I suspect quite an number of those in the jungle are - that of course is choice, how they vote is their business and our politics do not define us.

Exactly! MH could also say I am not taking orders from a sex predator! Neither of them should be there!

For violent crime, no

I don't think it is just about "giving him a go" I think lots of people don't like him judging others, if he should be "Given another go" maybe he should accept that other people can be as well.
