But yes it was a nice goodbye for Dot I thought, very touching, although I must confess when Mick said 'I must call my mother she was very fond of Dot' I honestly couldn't think who he was talking about for a good 10 minutes! Probably need an HRT review

And the mystery of why we had the episodes in 2 chunks was revealed - so they could shoe-horn the footie results in with (what felt to me like) a slightly odd PSA about Qatar from Eve. Not that the POV was odd, of course, it just seemed weirdly acted with everyone in the cafe just quietly nodding

I think Dotty is Dot's granddaughter. She isn't called Dotty though, that was the lie Nick told wasn't it? It was during a period when I wasn't watching. Rocky seemed adamant that she couldn't be his. Rocky is a Cotton (Tommy Cotton) and is Nick's half brother. Seems like there is another half brother called Andrew too.

What secret is it that Janine thinks she has on Linda? The money thing will make her look even worse so it can't be that.

I think they've done a good job about shoehorning in relevant football stuff but they talk about it far too much. The bit with Eve was very much a public service announcement about Qatar's anti gay laws.

I thought the bit with Eve and the anti-gay laws in Qatar was brilliant. I am unimpressed about the World Cup being held there. I’ve been reading about all the migrant workers who lost their lives building stadiums etc. Terrible.

I don't disagree with them including it but it was stilted, unnatural and so obviously a Statement. They could have made it far more natural.

It was the way Eve said "illegal to be me". No way would she have said it like that. Someone should have lead with "their human rights are appalling" with
eve joining in with "yeah. It's even illegal to be gay! I can't support that by watching." Maybe followed by "I can't believe they threatened to book anyone wearing a pride arm band!" (I can't remember the exact context in which the issue came up other than it followed on from Eve fancying the Lionesses).

it was very much "we have to say something" and then working out how they could say it in an informative and so on accusatory way.

Anyway, it wasn't including the message I disagree with, just how they did it.

I don't understand how they went from Janine trashing the kitchen in the Vic to her standing by Mick for the light switch on without anyone mentioning it. Surely someone noticed the noise at least!

I suppose it was filmed on the quick and they had to do on a day where they had to research which clothes they were wearing for that particular episode and get the relevant actors in
A character like Kim knowing her World Cup history and dates was also a bit ridiculous.
Kim is not the sort of character to know such particular facts!!
It's also sobering to think that in 1966 , when England last won it , being gay was illegal here too :(
