On the face of it, it looks like an unlikely story following a prisoner on death row in the United States, a vicar in a quiet English town, and a maths teacher trapped in a cellar.

What’s their connection, you may ask?

According to the synopsis, the story follows a US prisoner on death row (Tucci), who is seeking atonement as he faces execution. It continues: “On a train in England, a journalist (West) is looking for a story. In a quiet little village, a vicar (Tennant) is picking up his son’s maths tutor (Dolly Wells) from the station.

“All four are about to be entangled in a dilemma that could lead one of them to murder.”

And as the synopsis also states: “Everyone’s a murderer – you just need a good reason and a bad day.”

Like we said, this series has a star-studded cast. Tennant plays Harry Watling, Tucci plays Jefferson Grieff, West plays Beth Davenport while Dolly Wells (Pursuit Of Love) plays Janice Fife.

The cast also includes Lyndsey Marshal (Dracula), Atkins Estimond (Hightown), Mark Quarterly (Cursed), Tilly Vosburgh (Maigret), Louis Oliver (Midnight Mass), Kate Dickie (The Witch) and Dylan Baker (Hunters).

I think he was more concerned Ben was getting the blame unless the vicar is in on the porn as well but would like to think not

yes the payment is still weird. So wife of counsellor went to therapy but found out one of the woman he raped is in clerical position doing her finances so she sends a text to saying pay therapist but she reads it as pay the rapist

then when therapist doesn’t get paid she texts again and then gets paid

tho surely if reads it as pay rapist first time she would second ?

Think because she feels appalled at having sexual with the senator that she then had therapy soon after.

Maybe Edgar is the Vicars son?

The first payment is made when the senators wife sends the misunderstood text. Maybe the therapist also sends an invoice which the wife gives to the woman to pay?

I feel like the whole thing isn't taking itself too seriously, so suspension of disbelief is needed.

i don’t think the vicar knew it had CSA images on the flash drive. The verger asked him to not look at it.

The verger is described as having turned himself around. So maybe the vicar has supported him and wouldn't want it to come out that he's supported a paedophile. 🤷‍♀️

So instead the vicar lies, attacks the innocent woman and leaves her injured and locked in a cellar.

The vicar keeping Janice locked up is bizarre,so was the wife’s reaction. Then again a lot of murders take place on the spur of the moment.
Regarding the vicarage; I was at school with a vicar’s daughter and went to her house. It was absolutely stunning, so that part does not surprise me.

I think that Steven Moffat ( the writer ) just wanted put it out that the word Therapist is 'the rapist' if you don't write it as one word or if it's broken up into two words.
I saw this on Facebook ages ago and went ' ahh! And then ' oh , that's not good ! '

@Groovee Actress Tilly Vosburgh plays Hilda, she’s best known as Susan Rose in EastEnders.

Whoever said it reminds you of Inside No 9 - the trailer made me think they were all going to be the same person, like that episode where it flicks between a girl in the bedroom, a Texan prisoner and some other characters and they all turn out to be facets of the same person with multiple personalities. Steven Moffat can't write endings for shit either so... however this ends up it will be disappointing.

I only work a few hours a week now ( long story ) so I have time to watch in the afternoons.
I watched all of ' I am being unreasonable' on Saturday at a loose end and annoyed Dh. It's not his kind of thing , but this is.
