The cast is great and I am intrigued by the setting/sweeping scenery etc and it now all on Paramount.
So is it worth investing time?

I would ride Rip like he was a rodeo horse 🐎

Just started Seaso 4. My god, the pre-titles were heart stopping.

They are all a bunch of murdering psychos but it's brilliant. Great character development and the scenery is breathtaking.

The (small and non spoiler / inconsequential to the plot) scene in Season 3 when they go and round up the horses is amazing - briiantly directed, dubbed and shot. You can see there were actual cowboys as well as the cast* and I too thought 'I'd like to do that again!'.

*The cast all went to Cowboy School to learnt to ride and rope. Except Kelly Reilly / Beth - she didn't need to; ironically, she was the best rider of them all as has been riding since she was a kid.

There's LOADS of fandom stuff online about the Series.

I also covet Beth's 'At Home on The Ranch' wardrobe (as well as her bloke)

I don’t get why Jamie keeps turning to Beth when she hates him and pretty much beats him up

Not sure why she hates him so much either - unless it comes out later

I don't know where you're at but it comes out season 4 & then all makes sense.

Ok thanks season 2, will hold on for the back story

Absolutely loved it. Dh and I both. Totally got into it.

"I would ride Rip like he was a rodeo horse 🐎 "

Ha ha. Me too.

I’m actually addicted to watching cowboys after watching Yellowstone. Literally sobbed my way through the marvellous 1883 and now can’t wait for the other spin-offs.

I was always a Ryan Bingham fan (Walker) and was really disappointed to miss his U.K. tour. Maybe next time!

Oblomov22 · 07/09/2022 23:28

@Oblomov22 this is amazing! Thank you!

He could have me barefoot and pregnant any day of the week.

Season 2 too- so far not sure how Beth has such incandescent hate for Jamie.

By the way found out that singing cowboy that Rip hates so much is in real life a country music singer who was an actual rodeo cowboy.
Started singing to entertain other cowboys. Talk about art imitating life!
I liked his character, not sure if he comes back.
In fact I like all the cowboys, Jimmy is quite endearing. So is the old guy.

@Temporaryanonymity Walker! That's who I mean.
Bingham has great screen presence.

Speaking of cowboys and amazing sceneries and.... Wes Bentley (Jamie) has anyone seen the very underrated 2000 Michael Winterbottom film The Claim? Set in the late 1800s in Northern California, remake of Mayor of Casterbridge- a beautiful film, great cast too.
It's very random but one of my favourite movies.

Watched latest episode. Fighting till they could barely fight anymore.

hockeygrass · 11/09/2022 17:53

Does anyone know how I can watch Series 4 episodes 6-10 in the U.K.? Totally obsessed by the show!

hockeygrass · 11/09/2022 17:57

Sorry I've watched S4 ep 6, so it's 7-10 that I think have been shown in the US.
Otherwise I'm going to start 1883.

It’s coming out weekly on paramount, I’ve paid for a subscription via Amazon. I think you might be able to buy the dvd? Currently watching 1883 and it’s very good, first episode not great but stick with it.

hockeygrass · 11/09/2022 19:34

@QuebecBagnet , that's great, thanks so much

QuebecBagnet · 11/09/2022 19:46

No probs. I’m hating the weekly drip of episodes, much prefer a binge watch. Watched the first three seasons in a few days.

anonacfr · 13/09/2022 15:51

My father is visiting for a few days and it is lovely to see him but I am having Yellowstone withdrawal symptoms... I was on a 3 eps a day rythm and now have to wait till the weekend.

If you've sky cinema you get Paramount Plus for free and all episodes are on there.

We bought the box sets of 3 & 4 before we knew that and was pleased we did as the fourth series isn't released all at once.

Madamecastafiore · 13/09/2022 15:57

If you've got Amazon Prime you get a week of free Paramount Plus but that won't help much as episodes released weekly.

MarshaBradyo · 13/09/2022 17:03

I’ve hit a bit of a wall with it, think I’m mid season 2

Some of it seems too unlikely but I might push on as I don’t get why the relationships are so bad and I’m sure the reason will come out

I find Beth near unwatchable

But Rip makes up for it - his almost still face that breaks out in a smile at times is genius acting

Crikeyalmighty · 13/09/2022 17:23

Well that's very interesting. The music is an absolute steal/copy of Rare Bird- sympathy- which was a huge European hit in the 70's and as it happens I know those people from that band .

I was with you on Beth around the same time. You will understand her better later on. I can say that without giving any spoilers. It's worth sticking with. You do need a suspension of belief though.

Did you mean to post that here bc I'm confused 😄
