There was also a 1987 Vanity Fair starring Eve Matheson, so perhaps that's where the confusion with Eve Best comes in?

Sorry I am always on IMDB lol

Oh thank you, I thought I was going mad when I went through Eve B's credits and couldn't find it. I was definitely confusing her with Eve M.

I've just watch episode 6. Thought it was very good.

My burning question is how come Rhaenyra are all dark haired just because the father is dark haired. While Alicent's children are all blonde despite having a dark haired mother?

I made up the theory that in this world they were trying to suggest that the hair colour comes from the father (as I recall a line avoid Cersei's children being fair despite thier father's dark hair.

Was quite pleased with myself. Then I remember John Snow. 🤨.

Also, what's with the rat in every episode? Is it listed in the credits?

BlackberryCat · 29/09/2022 00:06

In Game of Thrones they said that it was because the Baratheon seed was strong, so all the Baratheon children had dark hair, even Cersei's first-born son who died. I think it's not about the sex of the parent but the strength of the seed, so half of the Stark children looked like Starks and half like Tullys as they were even strength. All Baratheon children had dark hair because it was a strong line.

Yes, that's ringing a bell!! Thanks.

limitedperiodonly · 29/09/2022 09:07

@AnImaginaryCat perhaps it's a motif like oranges in The Godfather or the hare in Inside No 9. We''ll probably never know the truth. If I was writing HoD and someone asked me I'd insist it was a symbol of decay and corruption or something even if it the true answer was: "we have to CGI the dragons but when my kid's teacher asked me to look after the classroom pet for the holidays I saw my chance." . Maybe they are more honest than me though.

The rat!
Didn't realise although it's obviously made appearances throughout.

I'll be spending the whole of the remaining episodes looking for it now.

Love the alternative explanations as to its significance @AnImaginaryCat

FawnDrench · 29/09/2022 10:58

@limitedperiodonly sorry, I've tagged the wrong person and meant to credit you with the ratsplanation.

That episode has definitely started to reel me back in, was very disappointed after the previous episode. Wasn’t excited to carry on watching, hence only getting round to it now.

I feel the battle lines are starting to be drawn up more. Lots more info re the various children.

I knew, as soon as Laena said “only half of them hatch” when talking to her daughter about the. eggs, that things were not going to go well with her pregnancy.

Was really confused at first when they kept saying “Princess” at the start of the episode - was thinking surely she’s Queen now. Did not expect to find out that Viserys was alive!

Anon778833 · 03/10/2022 07:13

Today’s episode is definitely the best so far!!! Lots of drama. Absolutely loved it.

Claymorekick · 03/10/2022 09:48

Just finished watching episode 7 - OMG, so many plot twists and proper 'gasp' moments definitely the best episode so far!

ClaudineClare · 03/10/2022 15:32

Eye (😁) thought that was great! The ending was a very good twist.

Some humour still wouldn't go amiss, but that would be hard to introduce now.7

BorgQueen · 03/10/2022 20:51

It was so bloody dark that I didn’t realise who was getting on the rowing boat!

FiloPasty · 03/10/2022 22:10

Too bloody dark for me too, but much better episode.

ClaudineClare · 03/10/2022 22:11

I turned up the brightness on my TV, which helped a bit!

667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 03/10/2022 22:16

Think that was the best episode yet! Is this a spoiler free thread ?

AcrossthePond55 · 03/10/2022 22:44

Excellent episode! But yes, unbelievably dark. I was watching on my laptop and tried to turn up the 'bright' but it did no good!!

Going to try to phrase this so as not to 'spoil'...who was it that 'took the place' of the person who left in the rowboat?

I want to know this too but didn’t know how to phrase it without spoiler! I’m not sure if I was tired or missed it, I think I will need to watch it again to see

Haven't watched it yet...was it Gendry's ancestor 🤣

Think back to an encounter on the stairs.

SPOILER I assumed it was the random person who Daemon kidnapped? Presumably they dressed them in the other persons clothes and then chucked them on the fire when the young boy left to get help?

Have to say that my initial thoughts were that they had bluffed the princess/Daemon but reading wikipedia afterwards suggested they were all fully in on the plan so who knows 🤷

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 03/10/2022 22:56

If you watch D & R 's conversation back it all
makes sense in the light of the twist.
