Your brand spanking new thread to discuss the latest developments in Weatherfield. I for one will be on tenterhooks until Summer’s exam results come through…

@HealthAnxietyspoilsme Yes! The bit I always laugh at is when they are carrying a suitcase. It must be empty and they don’t “ act out carrying a heavy load”!

When Aadi carried in two boxes of sweets that had been delivered to Rita. He picked both up together effortlessly. I have to shift those boxes at work. Usually around15kg in each box

mycatisannoying · 14/06/2022 03:08

So Summer said tonight 'don't worry, I'm not going to emigrate abroad' (or words to that effect).
Sure you don't want a rethink Summer? ...

I actually love Todd.

I just can't handle Toyah's mouth. My eyes are drawn to it constantly. It's like it's too big for her face.

eggandonion · 14/06/2022 08:22

Aadi is a superhero.
Todd as George's assistant is brilliant.
Summer being beach body ready does not bode well.

Deadringer · 14/06/2022 10:26

I want Billy to get a huge promotion in the church, possibly in the U.S. and for he and Sean to realise they are in love and go there together, of course taking Summer with them.

FantasticButtocks · 14/06/2022 10:48

Toyah's unfortunate choice of words in the eulogy... Imran faced life's challenges HEAD ON, he was DRIVEN and other references that were jarring considering the way he died. Shock

Honeyroar · 14/06/2022 15:21

Yes I thought that. No wonder his mother was fuming!
I thought that not many people who had lost their husband a week ago and were being investigated would stand up and do a reading!!

Clawdy · 14/06/2022 22:52

I've now lost all sympathy for Toyah, but bet it turns out she is innocent.

Cravingsweets · 14/06/2022 23:12

I missed the "ology" line. Must've been when k was fast-forwarding Cathy's dreary part. I also FF Summer's scenes. I can pretty much watch an episode in 20 minutes 😂

Does anyone else think that Todd and Paul are going to end up getting it on?

I did wonder if that’s why we’ve had so many scenes with just the two of them, or the two of them with Summer but without Billy. I honestly wondered if Daniel Brocklebank had been ill when they filmed the scenes at first, given the flimsy excuses for Billy’s absence, but then up he popped later in the episode!

The best is any funeral scene when they’re carrying the coffin. They hoist it onto their shoulders like it’s a bag of feathers. I don’t expect the set designer to put an actual corpse in it, but surely the director should be reminding the actors that this is actually supposed to be heavy?

I remember in Emmerdale when they were carrying the not exactly sylph-like Lisa Dingle - not so much a wince or a sign of strain!

Why do soap funerals always happen so quickly too. (Other than poor forgotten Robert.)
I've never been to a funeral within a week of a death!

To be fair with Imran his mom asked for a Muslim funeral and they do happen really quickly - normally within a day or so.

IstayedForTheFeminism · 15/06/2022 07:45

Good point @girlmom21 I forgot that!

Honeyroar · 15/06/2022 16:20

Was it a Muslim funeral though? It just looked like a big standard cremation. And then Peter and Toyah just stayed their chatting while the music kept playing! There’s normally another cremation arriving as one family leaves when I’ve been. You’d never be allowed to stay!

Yes! Plus, the curtains closed before she had finished the eulogy. Was expecting Imrans favourite song to be playing (though not Crash by The Primitives!)

thenightsky · 15/06/2022 21:10

Brian and Cathy... no idea what's going on with them. Don't care. Zoned out.

OrangeBagel · 15/06/2022 22:11

I’m trying to decide whether I hate Toyah more than that Leanne. It’s a tough one.

Honeyroar · 15/06/2022 22:40

Crash by the Primitives!🤣🤣. Perfect lyrics.. “slow down, way too fast. Don’t slow down we’re gonna craaash!”

eggandonion · 15/06/2022 22:59

Cathy can go away Brian can stay if Julie comes back.

They tend to happen quickly in Ireland. My fil was buried a couple of days after he died. But even in Ireland or under Muslim law they'd have to have a post mortem etc first?

SpinRiverSister · 16/06/2022 11:41

Yes, there are usually special arrangments for Muslim burials with the local authority. Don't know about the post mortems though - they are requested by the Coroner and carried out by a pathologist in the case of a sudden, unexpected, accidental or contested death, so some delay is inevitable I guess.

IstayedForTheFeminism · 16/06/2022 12:52

Oh I know they happen quickly in Ireland. But corrie isn't set in Ireland.
My friend died in February and his funeral wasn't for about 10 weeks! I can't think of any funeral I've been too that happened within a week!
