Your brand spanking new thread to discuss the latest developments in Weatherfield. I for one will be on tenterhooks until Summer’s exam results come through…

Leanne’s dad is Les Battersby and her mum was Stella, half sister Eva. Janice is her step mum.
Toyah is Janice’s daughter, Les is her stepdad. Toyah went to find her real dad in London when she was about 16. Ended up at the wrong house and was kidnapped by the bloke who lived there. Janice and Les eventually found and rescued her.

Snoredoeurve · 04/06/2022 08:06

Was just coming back as I remembered about Stella!
I really liked Michelle Collins in that role.

eggandonion · 04/06/2022 08:37

But Toyah never found her real dad?
Davina and Nicky could do a Long Lost Family special on Coronation Street.
I think shed have been kept in hospital a bit longer, and a social worker would have taken Alfie to a foster family until his future could be decided.

HunsNetterVom · 04/06/2022 08:42

Oh dear God
Binge watching it now-who the fuckerty fuck is in charge of this shit show now
I'm laughing so hard at how terrible it is
The camera work
The gravely detectives voice which belongs in a 1970's porn film
The 'you went to the cops' 😂 Abi I'm looking at you and leanne 'coppers'
Kevin have a wash & shave lovey NKA HAWASL
It's like crossroads on speed
So bad it's brilliant

woodhill · 04/06/2022 10:56

Shame Les can't come back

He was so awful but entertaining

MakingNBaking · 04/06/2022 14:29

Since it appears that Torah was so distressed at the thought of losing Alfie she drove the car at a brick wall and killed her husband, you would think she was the last person to be allowed to take him home to her flat. He'd have been whipped away faster than Roy can butter a tea cake.

SpindleForTheWorld · 04/06/2022 15:04

Well indeed, @MakingNBaking.

Who better to give a baby to than the badly injured nutjob who's just slammed daddy into a brick wall and killed him?

Les was one of the pissed actors, wasn't he? Him and Gail's poisonous MiL (Ivy?), Curly, and a short phase for Dev. I'm trying to think of who else has been noticeably shanted on set.

NCTDN · 04/06/2022 16:20

The flashback still doesn't make it clear if it was deliberate or not.
Why wouldn't they have used a defib on imran?

Deadringer · 04/06/2022 16:30

Tbf Toyah and Leanne were dragged up, Janice and Les were both awful and as rough as they come. I don't suppose Toyah planned for Inram to die, she was only going at about 2 miles an hour. Stupid storyline.

pedropony76 · 04/06/2022 18:20

PrincessScarlett · 03/06/2022 20:10

I think I would have preferred Toyah to have been killed and Imran survived. Now we know exactly how far she will go to cling onto a child that isn't hers. And if she wasn't disliked enough already for the way she has behaved.

Honestly! Like is this not insanity?? You’ll really kill another person just to have sole care of a child. Instead of feeling sorry for her, I really can’t stand her

eggandonion · 04/06/2022 19:54

Making people we should feel sorry for into people we dislike is a specialtof tbe writers.
Jacob has done the opposite for now.

SpindleForTheWorld · 04/06/2022 20:00

There's a writers' craft in intertwining the mundane and comical with the dramatic, while developing characters over the months and years, and Corrie has lost it - especially with the hour-long episodes.

I agree with pp ^^ that the half-hour episodes seem better. Less batshit drama, more character acting please.

I agree, we don’t know whether she did kill him yet. She was almost dead herself too. It didn’t look planned!

The medics were doing cpr very lightly and very quickly on his throat when I looked. He stood no chance!

leotardrock · 04/06/2022 22:05

Do you think they forgot it was the Jubilee?

All blooming doom & gloom - I was expecting a Street Party at least! Unless we get that on Monday!

eggandonion · 04/06/2022 22:15

A street party would surely end in disaster, i don't think that sink hole has been sorted. A whole table of residents and their trifle could be swallowed up.

Leanne asked total what they were doing for the Jubilee earlier in the week and she said something with Elsie. So I think that was the nod to it but events meant nothing was shown.

NCTDN · 05/06/2022 08:39

Total?!! Toyah silly autocorrect

eggandonion · 05/06/2022 08:49

Poor wee Elsie. Street party cancelled.
Will Imran have a funeral, unlike poor Robert. I can't remember if his parents are alive, didn't they try to force Rana into an arranged marriage?

icecreamgirl94 · 05/06/2022 11:36

I think Imran’s dad died but his mum is still around. If she must come back then I pray it’s with a new head as the last one was possibly the worst actress I’ve ever seen in the show.

minutesturntohours · 05/06/2022 13:21

I dont understand this.

Toyah was driving, so surely she risked killing herself?

eggandonion · 05/06/2022 13:49

They had the Yasmeen family and the Rana family, one by one they have been killed off. Id forgotten, was Leanne engaged to Yasmeens son?
There's too much drama!

eddiemairswife · 05/06/2022 14:09

I was wondering about Elsie. Was she visiting Toyah and Imran for trial sessions? I had a girl in my class in a children's home, who was in the process of getting to know her foster parents, firstly by spending the odd Sat or Sun, and then the whole weekend, before she was finally placed there.

Yes, that's why I think there's a missing bit where she shouts or thinks, 'if I can't be a mother I don't want to be alive!' or some such hystrionics, and puts her foot down on the pedal, because she has just seen it all unravel.

It would at least be in character; but the editing is a bit weird.

Yes. She was engaged to Kal who is Alya and Zeedan's father. He was killed off in a fire, the one Carla got the blame for (and Tracy seems to have evaded justice for).

I think Rana and Imran were originally brought in as friends of the Nazirs.

Deadringer · 05/06/2022 14:51

I suppose its still possible that it was an accident, an animal (or person) could have run out in front of her car and she served to avoid it rather than apply the brakes. We know that she was upset and distracted, anything could have happened really.
