Just wondering if anyone has watched the entire series 4 and wanted to discuss it or the ending ?! ......

OP posts:
cushioncovers · 07/05/2022 14:45

Yes I noticed that as well

Camilla’s voice!! What a beautiful rasp!!

Despite her being evil and killing off my favourite, I loved her! Great voice and loved her style.

Wasn’t too impressed by the last season. Wendy became a complete psychopath and Marty was just a big drip. I was hoping the road rage thing was him finally going crazy and doing something interesting… but no. Having John-Boy from the Waltons playing Wendy’s dad was a weird casting choice.

Oblomov22 · 08/05/2022 20:15

Finally watched episode 14. It was hard because Dh lost interest. We so enjoyed season 1-3. Season 4 the first part less, 4 the second part, even less.

Oblomov22 · 08/05/2022 20:58

Marty and Wendy still aren't free. Camilla will never let them go.

Oblomov22 · 08/05/2022 21:03

All that. To the car crash that was pointless.

XelaM · 08/05/2022 22:50

What a rubbish Part 2 of Season 4 and totally unnecessarily horrible ending. Why kill of Ruth and never any of the Byrds?! Totally unnecessary and unsatisfactory. And Jonah shooting Mel was just stupid.

XelaM · 08/05/2022 22:54

Flowersandwine12 · 06/05/2022 19:47

I'm disappointed with the ending. Wish Ruth hadn't died.

I also dont understand why Omar died, since camilla realised he didn't kill her son I'd hoped she was doing some sort of double cross and he was going to wind up at the boat party

I wish the kids hadn't come back when Wendy threw her toys out of the pram in the hospital, not for a few more days anyway

And I guess the car crash scene was pointless

I agree. I kept waiting for Camilla to double-cross the Byrds and warn Onar. Why kill him?!

XelaM · 08/05/2022 22:55

Omar*

Southeastdweller · 09/05/2022 09:20

I think she was power hungry and didn’t want any obstacles in her path to getting to the top.

XelaM · 09/05/2022 09:41

I just can't understand why the writers let the Byrds and Camilla win and kill off Ruth after it looked like she finally made it with Snell's money and a clean record and the casino. It was all totally pointless. Part 2 of Season 4 was a complete waste of time. Most of it was spent on the pointless story with Wendy's father/children that went nowhere and the rest on Ruth cleaning her record and taking over the casino - also pointless. I am not even talking about Marty's ridiculous and unrealistic stay in Mexico as the cartel leader. Everything was just totally pointless

Thisisit2022 · 09/05/2022 12:59

Because real life sometimes IS pointless.

BiscuitLover3678 · 09/05/2022 13:57

Finally finished. I was actually getting bored by the end, despite the fact it’s a great show and the best female characters.

I like how it didn’t go down the moral route of punishing the bad guys.

Nope, basically back to how it started.

BiscuitLover3678 · 09/05/2022 13:57

VintageGibbon · 04/05/2022 22:22

I wonder if Ruth was intended to be the heroine all along or whether the actress was so good they just developed her role.

I can imagine a bit of both. It was never going to work out for her was it. :(

Southeastdweller · 09/05/2022 14:06

Nice guys usually finish last is the message I took from the ending.

Southeastdweller · 09/05/2022 14:06

Exactly. Of course Ruth wasn't going to come out on top. I read a couple of articles confirming that the whole point is that the cartel money won. Darlene the small-town dealer may have been a local drugs bigshot, but she lost. The Byrdes were going to go on and be successful while Ruth the petty criminal who grew up in a trailer park with nothing also lost out. Such is life.

XelaM · 09/05/2022 16:07

Well, it's hardly a realistic show - if they wanted to go down the "real life sucks" route then they should have done the whole show more reality-based. It was a nonsensical ending especially as last few episodes built up to Ruth winning

XelaM · 09/05/2022 16:08

And what was the point in the car accident?

XelaM · 09/05/2022 16:09

So Three is now the sole survivor of the Langmore clan and heir to all of Ruth's money?

XelaM · 09/05/2022 16:11

On the question of realism - there is no way in hell the FBI would interfere with a Mexican cartel war. That was utter nonsense

DashboardConfessional · 09/05/2022 18:14

XelaM · 09/05/2022 16:09

So Three is now the sole survivor of the Langmore clan and heir to all of Ruth's money?

Yep. In trust I guess. Don't think he was any more than 16.

maudesvagina · 09/05/2022 18:21

XelaM · 09/05/2022 16:08

And what was the point in the car accident?

To get kids to realise they love Wendy

lapasion · 09/05/2022 20:08

The outcome of the car accident was spoiled by Netflix anyway. When you selected the show, there was a photo of them sat on the ground next to the car, showing they were all still alive. So pointless.

This is why I think it’s great TV. You wouldn’t predict it.

We were seeing even more of Wendy and what she had to deal with. She is absolutely ruthless but I don’t think she is as heartless as she looks. And Marty is not all innocent. They are and always will be a unit. Ruth will never escape the Langmore curse.

Mel’s comment about how those guys never win were absolutely wrong. Of course they win, they are power.

BiscuitLover3678 · 09/05/2022 20:14

hopeishere · 05/05/2022 08:07

I like the ending. I practically cried when Ruth died. She was just a child. Marty loved her (in a paternal way) I can't believe he let her die.

I guess we don't know who was killed at the end though. Maybe he shot his mom?

Laura Linney is a great actress. Ageing gracefully. Loved what she wore as well. Jason Bateman was also great.

This is the thing, Marty isn’t a great guy. Ruth was always more loyal to him.

Kittyshopping · 09/05/2022 21:19

The fade to black ending has a Sopranos feel to it. We did not actually see who got shot…
