Is anyone else really excited about the new series tomorrow? I'm not sure if it's going to be a weekly episode or available to binge, but the trailer looks brilliant.

I can't wait to see what happens next although I'm dreading it too, as it inevitably will be the end of Kim in one way or another.

I was only saying to DH last week that I'd love to watch Breaking Bad again now as this is putting a whole new context on some of it!

I loved this week's episode, we needed a bit of light relief after the last two. The bit where Gene first started making small talk with the security guard about the football reminded me of the episode of the IT Crowd where Moss and Roy were trying to fit in with the football lads Grin

I am so enjoying BCS. One of the best TV series ever!

However, if this was an exam subject I'd be getting a D at best - I just keep missing plot points and BB refs etc. Who the heck is Jeff? The thief guy with the mum in the wheelchair but what's his relevance?

Twilightimmortal · 28/07/2022 19:19

My favourite line in the whole of BCS is " He wanted some soft serve so I gave him some soft serve".

Chicago sunroof lol

YES!

I thought that, too . . . bluffing his way through 😂

Emotionalsupportviper · 28/07/2022 20:42

@howdidigethere

Jeffy was a taxi driver who recognised Gene as Saul, and was threatening to grass him up.

I'm glad it wasn't just me who had the IT crowd moment 😂i also loved the Jim O'Heir appearance having recently finished parks & recreation.

I had a similar feeling to others - it was quite a slow episode given the recent developments, but you know none of those details will be wasted. I've just worked out I'm on holiday for the last episode so I'm going to have to wait TWO WEEKS to watch it (and stay away from any spoilers until then)...

fudfootedfannybangle · 28/07/2022 21:01

Yes! I was fully expecting “did you SEE that ludicrous display?”. 😂

I can’t watch BB again because I was just destroyed when the nazis killed that little boy on his bike.

howdidigethere · 29/07/2022 09:02

@Emotionalsupportviper

OK, thanks for that. I think the shift of time and location is confusing me!

Emotionalsupportviper · 29/07/2022 09:18

I miss tons of stuff, too @howdidigethere - I think that without this thread I'd be struggling - but when somebody else posts something, it prompts thoughts of my own.

Somebody mentioned the shirt and tie that Gene was looking longingly at - but then put away, and I hadn't particularly thought it at the time but when I read the post I thought - "I wonder if he was tempted to resurrect Saul (under a different name) , but then decided not to. Putting that shirt back was him turning his back of the selfish, money-obsessed Saul and accepting his life as Gene. And maybe even enjoying it - I think he can do without the stress.

Slippin' Jimmy and Saul thrived on the adrenaline, but maybe Gene is ready for a quiet life.

knottsberryfarm · 29/07/2022 10:39

The actor that played Jeffy originally was unavailable so there is a new actor in this episode.

The only hint is when he pulls up his taxi with the Albuquerque air freshener on the mirror. The original guy was more menacing I thought.

Emotionalsupportviper · 29/07/2022 10:54

I THOUGHT he looked different @knottsberryfarm - but my memory for faces is so poor I just assumed it was me . . .

I've looked back, and yes - the original actor was much more intimidating. The Jeffy in this last episode was almost a comic character.

PuppyMonkey · 29/07/2022 12:11

OMG I’ve just seen that the title of the next episode is… BREAKING BAD

Shock Shock

Emotionalsupportviper · 29/07/2022 13:14

@PuppyMonkey

<excited>

Whataboutno · 29/07/2022 14:35

My husband told me of a fan theory that the original Jeff was a character made in Gene's head as he wasn't feeling his normal self and was more intimidated by him, but now he has got his mojo back that Jeff seems less intimidating and therefore more subdued actor. Obviously it's a load of rubbish but I quite liked that explanation 😅

I can’t remember Jeffie at all! I understand that Saul/Jimmy was setting them up to have a hold on them, but don’t know why. sad face. Honestly, you blink and lose half the plot! Mind you it took me about three minutes to clock that Jimmy was now someone else……. Is Cinnabon a genuine franchise, if so will someone bring them over here please. But what an episode, what other series would say, yes, let’s take a whole episode to set up this sting, and while we are at it, let’s do it in monochrome. (I don’t know what’s happening but I like what I see.)

Playplayaway · 29/07/2022 17:17

I think it's in monochrome because

A) it helps us viewers remember where we are, and
B) To portray Jimmy's new life, with everything he was stripped away from him.

Emotionalsupportviper · 30/07/2022 12:12

Ooh - I like those explanations @Playplayaway

howdidigethere · 30/07/2022 18:32

@viques

Glad it's not just me confused by Jeff and how he fits in! It doesn't help if they've switched actors as I think someone suggested.

As for Cinnabon...google Cinnabon UK and find your nearest branch. They're inside some ASDA's. Not cheap but I feel I may have to try them in honour of Jimmy😄

Playplayaway · 30/07/2022 23:35

We watched the Breaking Bad episode titled 'Better Call Saul' tonight,
in preparation for the Better Call Saul episode titled 'Breaking Bad' on Tuesday.
Can't wait 😎

Emotionalsupportviper · 31/07/2022 14:09

That seems suitable respectful @Playplayaway

😄

Emotionalsupportviper · 31/07/2022 14:10

*suitably

Sorry about that - must remember to proofread.

MargotMoon · 31/07/2022 21:48

Just watched this week's episode - what a treat!!! A whole episode of Gene.

My heart stopped when he mentioned the chemistry teacher - I don't know why, it just feels like it's two different worlds colliding even thought it's not at all 😂

Also, Carol Burnett! WE LOVE YOU MISS HANNIGAN! That was a great cameo.

Jeff is the guy in an earlier episode recognised Gene as Saul Goodman (he'd been in Alberquerque). The whole episode last week was about "Gene" stopping Jeff from blowing his cover
