Is anyone else really excited about the new series tomorrow? I'm not sure if it's going to be a weekly episode or available to binge, but the trailer looks brilliant.

I can't wait to see what happens next although I'm dreading it too, as it inevitably will be the end of Kim in one way or another.

I definitely think now that BCS won't end with Jesse and Walt walking in. It will end in the Cinnabon world, so all bets are off. Maybe Gus will find him? Maybe Kim will reappear??

KittenKong · 27/07/2022 09:24

The Cinnabon set up was familiar - it was in BB wasn’t it?

Gus is dead in the BB world though, so can’t appear in Cinnabon as the timeline is after BB.

A simply stunning episode yesterday. There was too much delightful detail in one episode to only watch it once! Starting out with taxi drivers mum in the supermarket - confusing at first, but you just know it's going somewhere and taking you along for the most amazing ride.

The way Gene carefully created a routine with the security guard each evening, gradually getting him more and more relaxed and dependent on his daily cinnebon treat. The careful planning of the heist, the box delivery 'mix up' phone call, the way he kept the guard talking while the shit was hitting the fan on the screen behind him.

It's just sublime TV. The creativity of the writers astounds me. Bob O is magnetic. Only 3 episodes left. I'm not ready for the end 😩

Gus is dead?

Gus dies in BB, so pre Gene.
His death scene was so clever it's burned into my brain.

KittenKong · 27/07/2022 09:41

Oh I had forgotten that - proper dead or ‘maybe he got away’ dead?

0blio · 27/07/2022 09:56

This episode was pure Slippin' Jimmy, right down to Gene putting on Marco's ring. Fabulous episode and tied up the Jeff loose ends nicely.

Properly, unmistakably dead - you should watch it!

I agree about Mike. Until Nacho's father told him that he wa no better than the other criminals he was able to tell himself that he was, at heart, a "good guy" - he only killed villains, not innocent people, so that was alright, but now he sees himself through different eyes. He knows that no matter what he tells himself, not matter what his motives (financial security for his grand-daughter), he is no better than Lalo, or Hector, or any of the others. He's a murderer.

Exactly right, well put.

Can you remind me who Marco is again? Was it his friend he used to do his 'Slippin' Jimmy' act with?

Emotionalsupportviper · 27/07/2022 11:14

What did we think was the purpose of that episode? how did it move the story along towards the resolution we need very soon?

This is what I meant when I said I wondered where it was going to lead. And it will lead somewhere because there isn't a wasted word or a surplus scene in this programme. EVERYTHING is significant.

He and the two idiots effectively have a hold over each other. I don't think Gene will kill anyone - while he doesn't balk at people being killed, I doubt he'll do it himself unless he absolutely has to - but I agree that those idiots will be back for more and that might push him to speaking to someone who can do these things - I'm sure he still has contacts.

That's right - big, heavy man. I think they were pulling a fake rolex scam when he collapsed with a (real) heart attack, having feigned a false one.

Thinks 🤔an excuse to watch it all again . . . . <rubs hands in the fashion of J Montgomery Burns> Eeeeeeeexellent

It was, too - fluffing' amazing - really macabre . . . !

nah it was just a flesh wound, surely!Grin

Blush how I forgot that, I don't know.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 27/07/2022 12:49

One thing I did spot was the parallel between Gene faking a breakdown to distract the security guard, and Walt doing the same to scare Hank away so he could bug his office.

Whataboutno · 27/07/2022 13:03

Gus' death in BB was one of the only times where I thought "nah", in the whole history of the series. It was executed perfectly but the way he was standing there with half a face gave me Terminator vibes! It's the only thing that I've ever been able to think they could have done better.

Anyway derailing thread sorry! There is so much to look forward to in the last few episodes I can't wait!

I have also seen BB and loved it.

These are intriguing insights....I felt that the 'Jeffie' loose end was tied up with this episode after I watched it, but now your comments above have got me thinking it might not be and Jeff and his mom might come back to bite Gene.

Saul/Gene's outrageous and complex plan had tones of fixer Mike in the cutting of the wire on the wheelchair and concealing Jeff in the crate. Saul is back with a vengeance, no more cowed, depressed Gene. Saul is back and devised his high-risk, crazy plot without Kim's input (as far as we know). He has been energised by the threat that Jeff posed.

I felt so excited when the high school chemistry teacher was mentioned!

I missed the bit re the chemistry teacher! What was said/what was the context?

Emotionalsupportviper · 27/07/2022 20:49

It was when Gene was telling Jeffy the taxi driver that this was a big opportunity for him.

Jeffy had his doubts until Gene said - "Look - there was chemistry teacher walked into my office for help - within a year he had a pile of cash as big as a volkswagen . . . " (Or summat like that.)

Thank you - am really annoyed with myself that I didn’t clock this!

I’m trying to convince DH to watch BB again. He’s not having any of it so far but I just think it would be perfect timing to watch straight after the last ever BCS episode. We have only ever seen BB once and I know there’s tons I’ve forgotten. But DH isn’t one for rewatching things. How can I persuade him???!

He's so wrong. BB deserves to be watched at least twice. Second time around you already have an emotional attachment to the characters right from the start, rather than a from a few episodes or seasons in. I adore Hank and Jessie and enjoyed their characters much more second time around. First time around I didn't appreciate Hank properly and I didn't like Jessie for a long time, I thought he was just a druggy waster, but obviously he grows into so much more.
Does that make sense? 🤔

Puygo · 28/07/2022 16:11

I am watching bb again and it is so great the second time. I agree I love Hank and Marie and Jessie . It’s even better second time.

I think I will watch BCs again too once this season is finished

My DH is exactly the same 🙁 I really want to watch BB again!
