Anyone watch? New series started. I really like it but it gives me anxiety!

OP posts:
Cherryana · 09/02/2022 15:03

I was so annoyed when it came to an upbrupt end and now we have to wait for the next seven episodes. It was so double crossing complicated I will have to watch them again!!

I think the flashfoward of the car crash is the final but one scene of the whole thing. The end will be them all dead and the whole thing was pointless - all that death, violence, double crossing, huge anxiety etc was pointless - because they died getting out of the biz in a car crash!!!! Because Marty got distracted.

XelaM · 09/02/2022 19:30

I don't think they will all die in the car crash. Maybe the cartel will think they have died and that's how they will get out of the whole thing

Maybe agent Maya can help with new identities.
Cherryana · 10/02/2022 13:00

I think that is a nicer more hopeful ending than my prediction!

florentina1 · 11/02/2022 17:58

Off topic slightly but I am watching Inventing Anna. Julia Garner is starring in that too but all I can see s Ruth.

Vampiremockumentary · 11/02/2022 20:16

Have only seen the trailer for that. What's her accent?

florentina1 · 12/02/2022 13:32

Her accent is really peculiar and a bit off-putting. I cannot define it, seems to come across as vaguely from Northern Europe . I know she is pretending to be Russian.

Vampiremockumentary · 12/02/2022 15:03

Ah, you mean the chata3cter is pretending? In which case, it's forgiven!

Oblomov22 · 14/02/2022 07:16

I think we are season 4 episode 2. Omar's cousin has just bundled the sherif into Wendy's boot.
I agree with nearly all of the commments so far. Have enjoyed it though. I find the end of Marty's nose off putting.

Oblomov22 · 15/02/2022 10:45

Can we please talk about their personality types, Marty and Wendy.

I can't work her out. At first she just wanted it all, she liked the buzz. Her brother Ben said it the most like her true self he'd seen her. But her pulling the red phone off the wall when he father rang. And her handling of her son, when he wanted to leave the house, suggests she's got anger issues.

He. The more I see, Marty he's so calm, calculated, zones in only on the current job in hand. When he finally told Navarro what he wanted, he told Navarro that he wanted his hands cut off. That's what Marty wants to happen to his bully, his controller, because Marty is not free. But I didn't get what does Marty actually want himself?

Drunkpanda · 15/02/2022 10:47

They don't seem to have much in common anymore do they? Other than the business, obviously. I was surprised when they said they loved eachother in one scene.

Oblomov22 · 15/02/2022 12:12

Absolutely. They seem to gloss over everything and not talk. The only time they talked about anything was in that huge argument counselling session.

When they went back to California, met old friends, which was extremely awkward, so presumably they were never that close to, and always guarded, even before all this? Then they went to the top of the hotel, overlooking the view and were all lovey-dovey which seems odd considering their whole relationship for the last 2 seasons?

cushioncovers · 15/02/2022 17:51

Just finished watching and still love it. But I also wonder about Marty and Wendy's marriage. I think it's more like a brother sister arrangement now.

XelaM · 15/02/2022 21:33

I think the marriage was doomed even before they left Chicago. She had that affair after all and emptied their bank accounts. It's only pure necessity that keeps them together. I don't think either love each other anymore, but they have been through a lot together, so that's what keeps them going. That plus Navarro wants them to stay together given the experience with Helen's divorce

A580Hojas · 20/02/2022 21:38

What's so fascinating about this show is how utterly awful people can convince themselves they are good parents - Marty, Wendy, Darlene, Navarro, Helen. The two generations and family relationships is a strong theme.

Obviously the car crash at the start of this series is a flash forward. Marty and Wendy were talking about how they would be starting their new life in Chicago either under the protection of or in the employ of the FBI.

I hope Clare Shaw gets her come uppance somehow. And I'm really disappointed the replacement sheriff's role hasn't been developed more fully. Also quite meh about the Darlene and Wyatt murders. There could have been more drama/tension there rather than Javi just breaking into the house and shooting them. It wasn't really a twist.

But still ... bring on the rest of it, can't wait!

florentina1 · 22/02/2022 10:50

I have gone right back to the beginning, limiting myself to one episode a day. It all makes so much more sense in the light of seeing almost to the end.

CornedBeef451 · 22/02/2022 10:54

We re watched season 3 and now almost up to date with season 4.

I really enjoy it but it does make me a bit anxious and has led to a very innocent but erotically charged dream about Marty which has left me a bit confused!

A580Hojas · 22/02/2022 13:54

I think Marty is cute Blush.

I'm going to re-watch it all too. I do remember being a bit underwhelmed by the first series, I was very fed up with all the gratuitous scenes in the strip club. But it has definitely got better and better as it goes on.

XelaM · 22/02/2022 22:44

I actually loved seasons 1 and 2. I thought they were best and I didn't like anything to do with Wendy's "legal" ventures or political ambitions. That was all boring to me. And then the whole Darlene and Wyatt and Ruth and Ben couplings were just weird! I also hate Agent Miller. She's the most boring character.

I do like Marty though and Javi from the latest season. I hope he takes over the cartel from Navarro

jay55 · 23/02/2022 18:53
