Anyone watch? New series started. I really like it but it gives me anxiety!

OP posts:

Brilliant ending! Ruth is just fantastic!

NatashaBedwouldbenice · 29/01/2022 21:51

Is this a spoiler free thread?

I think that there was at least one comment that gave stuff away. I’d like discuss the final episode, am I allowed to spoil?

Vampiremockumentary · 29/01/2022 22:07

I assumed people on here have watched it all. There are already spoilers if you haven't.

I'm up for a discussion on the final episode so let's spoil away....

Julia Garner has acted the hell out of the character Ruth. I'm totally in her corner and would happily start the campaign "Seek vengeance for Ruth".

I want Ruth to take over Darlene's empire, get married to Frank Jnr, raise Zeke and also have more babies. I need someone to kill Javier because I want Ruth to be the supplier for the pharmaceutical company and takeover the Byrde foundation (rename it to the Langmore foundation) and push forward the development of the rehab facilities with Frank Jnr. There are lots of flaws in my vision but Ruth deserves a win.

JanisMoplin · 30/01/2022 09:53

I have been dying to discuss the finale in detail but I didn't want to spoil.

southeastdweller · 30/01/2022 10:09

I thought John Boy Walton was miscast as Wendy’s father. He only looks about ten years older than her.

The matter-of-fact murders of Darlene and Wyatt were very impactful. The actor playing Javi is so chilling in his role. The Byrde’s will have to pay for their crimes, going forward. I think he’ll kill Wendy in the next batch of eps.

florentina1 · 30/01/2022 11:02

I think this a a rare series where every cast member deserves their place. Ruth is amazing, but I also love Jonah.

NatashaBedwouldbenice · 30/01/2022 11:05

I was wondering about the farm. Zeke is the heir surely, not Ruth. But what was the situation of Zeke? Didn't Darlene cut him from the body of his murdered mother?? If they do the right tests, won't they trace his real family and return him?

So that would make Three the heir (Darlene died first, Wyatt inherited. Wyatt died, Three inherits). And what was that all about?? Didn't Three just appear at the end of the series after being missing for lots of episodes?

florentina1 · 30/01/2022 11:10

I thought Zeke’s parents were both dead. Am I mistaken or was Zeke’s father the preacher.

TheWitchwithNoName · 30/01/2022 11:19

I’m sure Zeke’s father was the preacher.

Really enjoyed these episodes and Ruth is fantastic! Found the last scene in the last episode really jarring. It seemed as if they were all green screened in or was it just me?!

NatashaBedwouldbenice · 30/01/2022 11:24

Yes, but at Darlene's (illegally) adopted son, he inherits. I guess if his true identity becomes known it'd be less clear.

I don't know why I'm getting so specific about the laws of inheritance, it's hardly as though the programme makers will be tied to them!

Vampiremockumentary · 30/01/2022 12:41

I thought Darlene was officially fostering Zeke.

KittenKong · 30/01/2022 12:42

It wasn’t legal though - some blackmail or threats with the adoption agency?

Drunkpanda · 30/01/2022 22:28

I thought the baby was fostered rather than adopted, so wouldn't be in line to inherit. Would go to the Langmores (whichever one is closest in blood to Wyatt) or to a relative of Darlene's we haven't met. I don't think they will go down the probate route in the series though Grin

jay55 · 02/02/2022 11:30

Zeke deffo still fostered, hence Wendy calling social services and Wyatt staying. There could well be more family around though to inherit.

I've watched the whole lot this year, terrific and heartbreaking. Id not watched before as for some reason I'd mixed it up with sense8 which I didn't enjoy.

XelaM · 04/02/2022 11:32

I became absolutely obsessed with this show and binged it all Blush My thoughts:

First two seasons were absolutely genius! Some of the best TV of all time.

LOVE Marty and Ruth and I really liked Agent Petty, even though he's meant to be unlikeable Grin I was devastated when he was killed. But all the characters and acting across those two seasons were absolutely superb 🤩 I even liked Darlene 🤣

Season 3 was weaker because Agent Maya Miller (the pregnant FBI agent) is the most uninteresting and pointless character. I kept hoping they get rid of her. I also HATED the Ben/Ruth relationship. They had zero chemistry!! He was also a boring character and his story line made very little sense. I kept hoping Ruth and Frank Jr get together. They have so much chemistry! 😍

The whole Wyatt and Darlene relationship was 🤢

Season 4 is better than 3 because I love Javi Navarro 😀 I so hope nothing happens to him!!!

jay55 · 04/02/2022 11:40

Ruth deserves so much better than Frank Junior. I want to see her living in a house, counting her money. The last one survivor.

XelaM · 04/02/2022 13:43

Aw, but I really liked her chemistry with Frank Jr (before his dick got shot off) Grin They were funny together.

Her and Ben didn't fit together at all though!!! It was so weird to watch.

And I don't want Ruth to end up alone. She's quite lonely on her own

XelaM · 04/02/2022 16:31

This is exactly my dream ending except without Javi dying. I hope the older Navarro stays in jail and Javi is the new drug Lord of the Cartel. I love Javi Grin

Feel very sorry for Marty, but I don't think he will end well.

The car crash was a flash forward. Someone from the Byrde family will definitely get hurt in that.

XelaM · 06/02/2022 18:43

Do we know when Part 2 of Season 4 comes out?

southeastdweller · 07/02/2022 09:52

No, it's not been announced yet.

GreenClock · 07/02/2022 19:11

Sometime after June 1st. I read in Vanity Fair that this decision is to do with the show then being eligible for two different years of Emmy nominations. Garner has already won an Emmy but Linney and Bateman haven’t.

It’ll be up against the highly acclaimed Succession this year so they want to widen the chances of a win.

That’s what I read anyway!

mizu · 08/02/2022 21:14

Binge watched over the weekend and loved it.

I love that although they are not particularly likeable, all characters are so watchable.

Usually I don't like watching stuff that is so violent but I can't wait for the last part of the last season!!

XelaM · 09/02/2022 14:54

@mizu Me too I binged it soo quickly and actually love all the characters except the boring Agent Maya Miller who adds nothing to the story (except the funny arrest of Navarro). Even Wendy is a great character and as I said up thread- acarily reminds me of my own mother 🤣 I can totally see the power going to my mum's head in those (obviously quite exceptional 😂 circumstances)

XelaM · 09/02/2022 14:55
