Is anyone watching? No one I know in real life watches so I have no one to talk about it with- I'm on the current series on TLC when Kody is going all crazy paranoid about Covid

OP posts:
HoHoHowMuch · 03/11/2022 20:58

Getting rather bored of every episode being an argument about Kodi's covid protocol. Are they ever going to talk about anything else? Happy news by the end with the new grandchild. Very sad for Meri. I hope Kodi went to the funeral to support her.

StirredNotShaken00 · 06/11/2022 08:45

I'm just watching it now and it's making me so angry the lack of effort he makes to see the older kids.

Robyn's face during the video call Hmm

hennybeans · 10/11/2022 13:46

Kody's excuses as to why he couldn't go visit Ysabel outside were ridiculous. "Actually, it's still pretty cold here."

Pushing Janelle's boys to move out, bad choice. Their relationship may not ever recover.

And now he thinks he's having 50/50 custody of Truely? When he never bothered to visit when she was minutes away. What a joke Kody is. And what a strong woman Christine is.

ShinglesThinBonesWhiskersBunions · 10/11/2022 14:54

Why didn't he travel with Truely to NC with Ysabel? Taking two cars would have made a lot of sense.

As for Kody deciding to have a patriarchy, utter rubbish. Jenelle will be next to leave. He wants Meri to leave him.

It really annoys me when Meri talks about bringing the other wives in. She makes them sound like her and Kody's property.

Also Robin and Kody made the down payment on Christine's house? It's family money when it comes to debt and his money when it comes to profit. Who paid the deposit for Robin's mansion? Who pays the salary for the nanny?

Seeing as they're not legally married I wonder if he has any rights at all?

WhatDoesTheNannyDo · 20/11/2022 16:24

I feel so bad for Janelle. Robyn brought debt into the family, had half the proceeds from J's house and now has £1m house. Janelle has nothing

How are the earnings for the programme split? Maybe they aren't.

ImAvingOops · 20/11/2022 17:08

I think Janelle has money - those massive RVs aren't cheap and she just bought one outright.
It's a funny set up though - the wives seem to have completely separate households, with all that stuff about Janelle having to ask each wife if she could park on their plots. Happy to all shag the same man, but not to have an RV belonging to one of the other wives on your bit of land?

ImAvingOops · 20/11/2022 17:11

I'm interested to see how Christine's financial settlement plays out - Kody still intends to build on her plot and rent it out. I hope she doesn't get screwed over because they aren't legally married

Limer · 20/11/2022 17:19

I was confused with the RV episode. I thought an RV was a motorhome, and that a trailer was a static caravan. I didn't know they had touring caravans in the USA, turns out the references to both RV and trailer were what I'd call a touring caravan! But what a monster, it's bigger than any tourer I've ever seen, hence needing the gigantic truck to pull it.

Janelle has always worked as an estate agent I think, so she probably earns well from that. I'd be interested to know what all the wives/kids/Kody get in terms of TV appearance money.

I hope Christine gets a fair settlement - but the law's not on her side, she's never been legally married to Kody and only has one dependent child (Truely?). It was lovely to see her so relaxed and obviously happy with her decision to split up with him. She will flourish I'm sure!

I'm on the FB group which is manly people from the US, apparently she's kept the proceeds of her house sale and sold CP to them for $10.

ImAvingOops · 28/11/2022 16:52

That sounds more than reasonable - Kody will have a plot available for his own house, which he's bleated on about wanting, if he can ever bring himself to leave Robyn's!

Saw a clip from next week's where it seems he wants the proceeds from Christine's house to pay off what's owed on CP - as if! He's delusional if he thinks that's a reasonable expectation.

QuestionsFromThePublic · 28/11/2022 18:58

Janelle is not ok. Her money went into Robyn's house which left the family account depleted. If she walks away, she has nothing to show for it. That's why she wants the land paid off from the family account.

They cannot build until the land is paid for. They have the money. Kody is probably worried about Janelle and Meri having assets and therefore the means to leave him.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/11/2022 15:04

I wonder if the family would still be together if Robyn hadn't joined the family. It really did upset the whole dynamic, didn't it?

ImAvingOops · 29/11/2022 16:59

Her presence maybe distracted Kody and so he wasn't made to focus on his other relationships - he could escape to a household where the wife is compliant and the kids too young to argue with him.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/11/2022 20:03

Yes I think you're right, she never questions him to his face .

MeJane · 29/11/2022 20:19

Yes, I don't think it was Robyn's fault. As soon as the children were old enough to see the world for themselves and make their own decisions it was all going to explode. Like the Plaths.

And hanging out with all of those TV people will have skewed their world. Talking with people who lead different lives. Sitting for all of those interviews and answering all of those questions about themselves and each other.

BrieAndChilli · 29/11/2022 20:35

The problem is there’s always a sexier wife, or a funnier wife, or a more intelligent wife, or a more obedient wife or what wife Kody wants in that moment.

in a monogamous marriage it’s not roses and hearts 100% of the time so when you argue or the other person pisses you off you just have to deal with it and work through it. Kody can just go and have fine with someone else so they never have to fully work through thier shit so it’s much easier for relationships to stagnate

lunathestral · 08/12/2022 16:41

so glad I have just found this thread

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/12/2022 17:25

Just catching up with this week's episode!

ImAvingOops · 08/12/2022 17:44

This week's was really sad. Kody has such a fractured relationship with his older children. I can't quite work him out - he seems genuinely upset about the divorce, but he doesn't love Christine. Is it just sadness/bruised ego at the failure?
Don't think he should have dumped his issues on his friend, who was getting married.
Also odd that neither Meri nor Robyn have reached out to Christine - surely if you considered sister wives to be family, you'd want to maintain some closeness? They don't seem to see each other or speak for weeks on end - I'd have thought the upside of this arrangement would be always having company and support.

Meri really ought to leave Kody.

QuestionsFromThePublic · 08/12/2022 20:36

Kody takes no responsibility. He cannot see a link between his behaviour and other people's reactions. It is all his wives fault.

Christine did not say she never wanted to see Robyn or Meri again, just that she needed space. Robyn remembers and believes what suits her.

Having favourites is damaging to all of the children. I think Savannah and one of Robyn's girls are the same age. Truly and Solomon are very close in age too. It is despicable to treat children differently because of relationships with marital partners.

COVID has made relationships damaged by his poor parenting irrevocably worse. Meri, Robyn and Kody deserve one another.

HoHoHowMuch · 09/12/2022 23:00

Really seems to be a new low that they were quizzing an 11 year old about the break up of her parents marriage on camera and broadcasting to the world. I know it's ways had interviews with the kids, but this seems excessively intrusive. That and the constant moaning means I am pretty sure I am switching off now.

Vanderpump · 12/12/2022 12:48

Apparently Janelle has left Kody

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 14/12/2022 08:17

😱

cavebaby · 14/12/2022 08:32

Oh dear, looks like it has all fallen apart.

I don't think things have been smooth sailing between the three wives from the start but certainly Robyn joining the family seemed to be the nail in the coffin and Kody's attitude seems to have got worse and worse since that point.

Good for Christine and Janelle putting themselves and their children first. Meri continues to believe that she should stay because god wants her to be in a loveless marriage for the rest of her life but Kody would probably prefer she followed the other two out of the door and left him with obedient Robyn and her obedient kids.
