Is anyone going to be watching? I absolutely love it despite only ever having one go at throwing a pot at school, forgetting to take my foot off the pedal and watching as the clay shot off the wheel into the adjoining open-plan science area. Looking forward to the new host too as I felt the last one made it a bit like a vehicle for her stand-up comedy routine.

I like it when the man (sorry I forget his name) cries over a pot or something. They are soooo talented.

iklboo · 02/01/2022 13:33

Love this programme. Going to set a reminder to watch it with DH later.

KiloWhat · 02/01/2022 13:34

There was one where they made a whole sink!

Ijustreallywantacat · 02/01/2022 13:35

Checking in! Love it, love it, love it.

ZittiEBuoni · 02/01/2022 13:36

Yes, one of my favourites! Isn't it Throwdown, though, rather than Showdown? Love the weepy guy so much Grin.

EewDavid · 02/01/2022 14:46

Yes it’s Throwdown not showdown youre quite right. Shall we take bets how quickly Keef starts to well up? I do love him.

Tonight? I knew it was due back soon but not this soon! Hurrah!!

RoyKentsChestHair · 02/01/2022 14:50

Oh I love this - thanks for the heads up! I’ve worked my way through all the shows of this format - Glow Up (make up), Forged in Fire (knives and swords), Blown Away (glass), All that Glitters (jewellery) but I think it’s crying Keith that makes this one my favourite - there’s something so wholesome about a man so passionate about his craft.

pandora206 · 02/01/2022 14:51

Thank you OP, I love this show and will definitely be watching tonight.

RoyKentsChestHair. My favourite judges are Patrick from Sewing Bee and Keith. Their love of their crafts are so genuine and infectious. The judges on the jewellery and woodwork competitions seemed so cold and their love for what they do didn’t transfer to the screen (well to me they didn’t).

The glass blowing one is Blown Away and it's on Netflix.

iklboo · 02/01/2022 16:36

@TheLittleRedToothbrush - it's called Blown Away. Love that one. They're so skilled.

Another one we enjoyed was called Baking Impossible. It was created by Andrew Smyth (the N Irish chap from Bake Off). They team an engineer with a baker and task them to make working designs incorporating bake & tech. It's American so it's a bit OTT but really entertaining.

Love the glass one. There was a jewelry one too but I wasn't as taken with that one

Rich Miller is my favourite judge from the last series. So talented but also warm and supportive in his judging. Not sure if he is in it this year.

Wolfcub · 02/01/2022 18:48

Looking forward to throw down starting again

Saucery · 02/01/2022 18:51

Looking forward to it, it’s great! Shame Siobhan isn’t presenting, I did like her.

Poshjock · 02/01/2022 19:52

So happy this is back. This and sewing bee make my new year!

SoupDragon · 02/01/2022 19:52

I actually like the new presenter based on the first 5 minutes.

SoupDragon · 02/01/2022 19:54

This is a nice challenge.

fourquenelles · 02/01/2022 19:57

I too love this programme so I will be mostly lurking but popping on to the thread every now and again. I have already warmed to most of the potters.

tsmainsqueeze · 02/01/2022 20:01

Bake off with clay , i love it .
Mmmmm Richard , so gentle and lovely hands .

OddBoots · 02/01/2022 20:02

Ooh, fabulous. I love Pottery Throwdown. My favourite of the ilk is 'School of Chocolate' on Netflix as it's not elimination, they all get to go through the the end and learn more each week.

Wolfcub · 02/01/2022 20:09

I like Rose's haircut, I'll be slightly less worried now when she does the raku firing

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 02/01/2022 20:10

Love this! I love to see how well they translate their sketches to the pottery.

The sink challenge as mentioned by a pp was a real favourite of mine.
