Is anyone going to be watching? I absolutely love it despite only ever having one go at throwing a pot at school, forgetting to take my foot off the pedal and watching as the clay shot off the wheel into the adjoining open-plan science area. Looking forward to the new host too as I felt the last one made it a bit like a vehicle for her stand-up comedy routine.

That was so good. Really worthy winner. The standard is so high.
Looking forward to next week.

Excellent viewing. It makes me feel all happy and bursting with a need to go make something 😂

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/01/2022 21:01

I like ALL of the potters.

This is unprecedented, as I usually develop an irrational hatred against at least one within the first five minutes (often I change my mind again half way through the competition).

And I like the new, possibly temporary, presenter.

Nydj · 02/01/2022 21:02

All the sets were lovely!

LavenderAskew · 02/01/2022 21:02

Oh wow, so many sets were amazing!! Really loved the winning one and the fox one.

Saucery · 02/01/2022 21:03

I didn’t like Anna’s Fox/Duck story, so she’s at the bottom of my list. Being taken out with a stick to beat foxes to death didn’t really move me to like her Breakfast Set…..

Ijustreallywantacat · 02/01/2022 21:05

Blown away, such a high bar! I was sobbing along with them at the fairy set.

Mykittensmittens · 02/01/2022 21:13

Shameless beg here - where this is filmed is really struggling after Covid. I live so close by - the shop is fabulous for cards and gifts. If you can visit do - please - have a look round it’s such a fabulous place. You can also do Emma Bridgewater (bargains), Portmeirion shop (more bargains) and Wedgwood museum in a day, easily.

I love watching this - we can see the potbanks from our house in the distance.

Hasn't AJ been on telly before? I'm sure I remember a program with them in?

littlbrowndog · 02/01/2022 22:06

The fairy set ❤️

littlbrowndog · 02/01/2022 22:07

They are also good this year. Loving it

bruffin · 02/01/2022 22:11

Blown Away isnt a patch on the british ones. Very short , no information on the techniques used and far too reliant on personalities and the story! I still watch it but its so badly produced

I follow Janusz Pozniac on facebook and would love to be able afford his glass

I bought this from Peter who came third last year which i love

Not reading anything as we had guests for dinner so need to catch up tomorrow, but checking in! So pleased it's back!

Nathlash · 03/01/2022 01:29

Weepy Keith excelled himself and Rich joined in! I thought some of the work was gorgeous, though the mildly wacky quotient among the potters was higher than usual..? Lucinda deserved to make the gallery, though Rose’s long skirts are going to cause some costly trip on the stairs sometime…

Newestname002 · 03/01/2022 06:28

@Wolfcub

Oh wow the fairy set is beautiful

I loved the fairy set and really want it for myself now.

What a lovely, emotionally warming programme. Right up there with The Repair Shop for me, which helped keep me on an even keel during Lockdown One. 🌹

bruffin · 03/01/2022 10:14

It loved the winner, and the fairy set. GPT gets the emotion but also keeps it fairly real

EewDavid · 03/01/2022 11:11

Rose’s long skirts are going to cause some costly trip on the stairs sometime…

Im surprised those got past the risk assessment/health and safety checks .

My heart is in my mouth when the contestants have to take their stuff on trays down all those stairs .

And when they are rushing to the drying room! It's all so vulnerable!

I thought this was hilarious. She also had a memory of sour milk at school Grin I hope she has a dark twisted story for every episode.

I wasn't that in love with the winning set/Potter of the Week, TBH. I'll take their word for it that it was technically excellent, and I do appreciate the sheer amount and fineness of detail that went into it, but I didn't love it. I think the space set with the lidded egg cup was wonderful and my favourite was the fairy and narcissus set; so delicate and beautiful.
I could do without the laboured running 'joke' about dirty bottoms. They've so obviously decided they need a 'thing' and have co-opted it from the Bake Off 'soggy bottom' thing.

Thank you for this. I'm sorry to hear it's struggling. I've never been to the Potteries, so maybe this is the year to change that!

Djangor3725 · 03/01/2022 11:44

Really enjoyed this. They all seem so talented this year - I wonder if they have been given a bit more time to complete the challenges. Wish we were given a better look at all of the final sets - or at least they could have photos on their facebook page. Need to rewatch the last 20 minutes & pause to look at the short judging of some of them so that I can see them. Of the ones we saw reasonably well I liked the set that Keith cried over & the dinosaurs. Thought it ironic that the potter who didn't take cleaning into account was the doctor. Was last year's final challenge a tea set based with a theme of Alice in Wonderland or was that an earlier year?

SoupDragon · 03/01/2022 12:52

I sniggered all the way through the handle pulling explanation. That will never grow old for me 😂

SoupDragon · 03/01/2022 12:55

It was a different year (or not the final maybe?) The final last year was the cocktail set with a punch bowl and ladle.

SoupDragon · 03/01/2022 12:57

They have some photos of this week's makes on the instagram page

Nydj · 03/01/2022 14:29

I agree @IntermittentParps about the stupid ‘dirty bottoms’ nonsense. I was really relieved that when one of the potters was sanding something they, and the people around them had a mask on to prevent breathing in the dust which can, apparently, be really dangerous.
