@Bimblybomeyelash

I don’t mind Tess, but she doesn’t add anything to the show. But I suppose that is a good thing when the show is so packed full of personalities. I guess it’s right that Tess slows the others space to shine!
I think she does, she navigates it all seamlessly and she's very polished and professional. You just don't notice her because she's as much a part of the show as the dance floor and she never veers off course. There's something comforting about that and her predictability!

@SilverRingahBells

Johannes actually did comment at some point in the evening that it was amazing being able to dance at full pelt and not hold back because he had such a strong partner, and I thought "I beg to differ love, you need to look back at those dances with a more objective eye". But I'm not sure what he could do differently - he's just naturally fabulous (but then so was Aliona and her partners didn't fade into the shadows). In the end though being runner up to a voting juggernaut like Rose is a great result and they should be proud.

I think we need many more years of same sex partnerships to see how the dynamics work, and with any luck we'll get them.

Yes well that's the thing, it's easy to criticise Johannes for our dancing John, and I have, but they're in unchartered waters really so it's no surprise they didn't always get the balance perfect.

EsmaCannonball · 19/12/2021 10:11

All the crying and emoting and endless demands that people talk about how much they mean to each other in a rather boring and repetitive way became really, really, really tiresome by the end. It's such a different show from the sparkly, fun bit of escapism that it used to be just a handful of years ago. Can we have the fun back next year, please?

JacquelineCarlyle · 19/12/2021 10:14

@SmellyOldPartridgeinaPearTree Johannes has always out danced his partners - it's one of the reasons I've never been keen on him as I don't think he's a great teacher in a way that means he showcases his celebrity and brings out the best in them. (I feel the same about Neil and haven't been keen on either of them since they joined the show)

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 19/12/2021 10:16

I agree smelly

She’s what they call a safe pair of hands.

That said, I could do without the ‘little faces’ ‘blesses’ and coochie cooing. That and the ‘this boys’

Any of that next year and Claude and Tess should have to neck a jaegerbomb for each phrase.

Amen to that esma

@Ellmau

I was gutted for AJ, and also her loss was missed in the show. I believe Rose would have won regardless, but it would have been a more entertaining evening with AJ's Charleston and showdance in the mix.

Rose's showdance was very pretty and romantic and sweet - as were her two other dances tonight. Lovely but not massively exciting. Pity she didn't redo her tango to bring a bit of an edge.

John really raised his game with the two repeats - the paso and rumba were two of his best dances and he did them brilliantly. The showdance let him down - no wow to it and they were out of sync.

Lovly to see Rose so excited at winning.

I said the same thing about wishing they had used the Tango (minus the costumes though) because the three dances all had the same "soft" feel to them.

Someone on twitter commented that Motsi looked unhappy at the results. She replied:

Even after such an emotional and Fantastic final people still will find a way for hate ! Imagine sitting at the living room and interpreting this ?? It’s a shame ! Thank you for all the Love and support I received they override this comment by the thousands .

She had a face like a smacked arse, there's only one way to interpret that!
SheldonesqueTheBstard · 19/12/2021 10:22

Hate? No.

I saw a chicken arse mouth. If she says it wasn’t displeasure at the result then that is fine and I’ll take her word for it.

But tell your face as well next time lass.

“Imagine sitting in the living room and interpreting my sour expression as a sour expression!”

This look does not scream 'delighted' to me Grin

Picked up a few things rewatching to get that screenshot. Johannes and John very graceful, beautiful smiles and waves to camera. AJ dancing happily waving her crutches. Rhys signing 'I'm proud of you' to Rose! Aw he is so adorable. I've loved all the contestants this year.

DontWantTheRivalry · 19/12/2021 10:30

That’s right Motsi…..turn it around so everyone else is in the wrong.

Or maybe you could accept the comments that you looked pissed off because you clearly were pissed off!

ShirleyPhallus · 19/12/2021 10:32

Nah I think motsi was just caught in a micro moment of rearranging her face and everyone has jumped on it, logically, why would she be pissed off at Rose winning? She gave her such great comments and loads of 10s

cordelia16 · 19/12/2021 10:32

I was just reporting what Motsi had tweeted!! :)

But given how overwhelmingly supportive she had always been of Rose I don't see why she would be upset at the result. She could have been looking across at one of the other contestants and not been pleased at their antics. Who knows. I have the kind of face that always looks worried, and sometimes I don't even have a thought in my head.

Thanks for rewatching and screenshotting so I don't have to. She doesn't look smiley. I can imagine she and Johannes are close both being black South Africans. If she's closer to him and has spent more time with jojo than giorose then she would obv be disappointed her friends lost.

The lady doth protest too much that she wasn't

ilovebrie8 · 19/12/2021 10:35

I saw her expression and she did not look pleased ...camera doesn’t lie ...as soon as I saw her I thought aye up she’s not best pleased at the result

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 19/12/2021 10:36

Yesterday 20:19 TedImgoingmad

Anyone remember Ore and Joanne's show dance? A big band number with lots of pizazz. Rose and Joe VArney's was too much like their couple's choice. Wafty contempt is nice enough but so boring in a final (unless it's stand out amazing like Louis Smith and Flavia's ). Wondering what AJ's and Kai's would have been....

That’s what I want from a show dance too, Ted - a show - and I reckon that’s what AJ and Kai would’ve delivered. Haven’t seen most of last night’s final yet, or rtft (got home halfway through the show) but much as I love Rose and JV, I was dreading another sweet, floaty number from them, especially as the judges’ pick was their QS and not a Latin number (why, why, why???) and hoping for some sass.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 19/12/2021 10:37

the judges were meant to sit there with fixed grins on their faces though!
and perhaps a little sympathy for J & J

i saw Craig rearrange his face into a smile

ilovebrie8 · 19/12/2021 10:37

Oti was in tears in one camera shot when J&J were on am guessing they are close being from SA ...

MrsLargeEmbodied · 19/12/2021 10:39

agree #@ilovebrie8
black south africans on the show, showing empathy towards each other.
motsi is so pretty without all her hair i noticed.

ilovebrie8 · 19/12/2021 10:39

I thought the vibe from the pro’s was more in favour of j&j the level of noise and applause ...who knows ...the result is the result ...not sure it’s what the judges wanted but just guessing ...both were great finalists Smile

SilverRingahBells · 19/12/2021 10:41

Motsi's expression definitely wasn't a misleading snapshot moment visible only on a single freeze frame - I thought she looked pissed off and I was only half watching as I dashed out to pick up a takeaway. But it doesn't make her a bad person, she's allowed to have a preference.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 19/12/2021 10:43

perhaps her dress was uncomfortable, or she was annoyed at the camera man?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 19/12/2021 10:46

I commented last night to DH how loud the whooping and cheering was for J&J - I felt that the pros definitely seemed more in favour of them.
