Gutted would have loved to see them. Her jive blew me away in the first show and I think she was robbed and should have got a 40 for Charleston. If her show dance was like her couples choice she would have smashed it tonight and might have won it.

SmellyOldPartridgeinaPearTree · 18/12/2021 21:20

@Slowchimes

Should be in a different job then. His job is to make his partner look good.

I think he made John look extremely good, to the best of his ability, which obviously won't be to the level of a professional who's been dancing for 20 years, incredible though it was!

Really delighted for Rose and Gio! Roses's achievement is immense!

No, sorry I don't agree. Remember when Shirley said to Nikita 'I couldn't tell who was the professional' that is what a good pro does.
longtompot · 18/12/2021 21:21

@Frezia

Much preferred J&J's show dance, and really they just had a better selection of dances overall than Rose.
Same. Happy for Rose but really wanted John to win.
CharityDingle · 18/12/2021 21:21

Delighted fur Rose and Gio. I wanted them to win, from the start. Liked both couples, in fairness, and it would have been a cracker had AJ and Kai been able to take part.

Loved the group dance with the class of 2021. It was so fun and upbeat and they all looked like they were having a brilliant time.

TedImgoingmad · 18/12/2021 21:21

Thanks for the unnecessary history lesson, Simonjt. I'd rather be a man than a black woman in S Africa any day the week.

SmellyOldPartridgeinaPearTree · 18/12/2021 21:22

@SequinsandStiIettos

Desperate to know what Gio was whispering in Roses ear at the end It will be like Lost In Translation. Also, would she hear him without the interpreter?
Probably, although she might have needed to see his face to lip read depending on background noise
LyndaSnellsSniff · 18/12/2021 21:22

@Samcro

She has Covid. I thought it was odd that they didn't mention her or Rob's absence at all: with AJ out they had plenty of "filler" time!

thedarkling · 18/12/2021 21:23

@lonsdaleshorts don't think it's you 😬😀🍷

Onlinedilema · 18/12/2021 21:24

So so happy for Gio and Rose, deserved winners.

Spectacularly missing the point 🙄
WhereAreWeNow · 18/12/2021 21:28

Hooray for Rose!

Gutted for AJ.

Also, I love Gio. It turns out that a handsome man becomes 5 million times more attractive when he shows a caring, vulnerable, softer side. Who knew?

Faevern · 18/12/2021 21:33

I absolutely loved J&J’s show dance. Johannes looked like it was the. best. moment. of. his. life.

R&G was a tribute to Rose, no dancing just flying.

BeaLola · 18/12/2021 21:38

Well done Rose & Gio

Next year Gio will have the middle aged /slightly older woman a la Anton

Suggestions: Lorraine Kelly, one of the experts from the Repair Shop, a soap actress 50+

LadyCluck · 18/12/2021 21:38

When was the Ed Sheeran performance recorded? I presumed it was tonight but watching back at the end of Aljaz and Janettes performance there’s a shot of the judges and Cynthia Erivo is stood where Motsi should be………

GoodPrincessWenceslas · 18/12/2021 21:41

I thought there was the same issue with J & J's show dance as they had in the jive, i.e. that John's movements were a bit wild and his arms in particular weren't synchronised to Johannes's. I was quite surprised they got full marks.

DontWantTheRivalry · 18/12/2021 21:43

I haven’t caught up with all the thread yet but I’m sad J&J didn’t win Sad

I’m really happy for Gio…..but I still think J&J were the better of the two tonight.

Mogloveseggs · 18/12/2021 21:44

Ds and I are happy she's a worthy winner

Or a man
Mogloveseggs · 18/12/2021 21:45

But aljaz and Jeanette were definitely the stars of the show-incredible!

TedImgoingmad · 18/12/2021 21:47

No, not missing the point at all, Soupdragon. Anyone who has any idea of what women go though in South Africa might find Johannes constantly banging on about being gay, homosexuality being made legal when he was, what, 10, a bit grating. "Legality" is a red herring when talking about an extraordinary savage levels of subjugation, depravation and ingrained patriarchal inequalities that keep women in their place in that country. Excuse me if I find the constant emoting over the right to dance with a same sex partner somewhat indulgent in comparison.

BogRollBOGOF · 18/12/2021 21:57

I know the friends for life thing is a stonking great cliché, but with all 3 finalists this year, I can believe that they will be and they all seem to have developed a strong connection from very early on.

If AJ had been in the equation, it would have still been close to judge a worthy winner.

I'm going to miss it on a Saturday/ Sunday evening for the rest of the winter.

Clawdy · 18/12/2021 21:59

Very close tonight. I wanted the lads to win but lovely to see Rose get the Glitterball.

JackieWeaveristheboss · 18/12/2021 22:00

I have loved Rose and AJ from the start and am really pleased with the result tonight. Rose and Gio have a lovely connection and I think it is amazing how he has found a way to help her feel the music. She is truly inspirational and you can see how much respect he has for her.

I wish that Johannes had toned it down a little bit to allow John to shine. I think John had developed into a brilliant dancer but was out danced which made him look inferior.

Thanks we ff all the boring stuff so missed that

DontWantTheRivalry · 18/12/2021 22:09

Did anyone else notice that very very soon after the winners were announced the camera went over to the judges and Motsi looked really pissed off.
