What do you think of Sarah Beeny's mega-mansion?

A new programme has started on Channel 4 following Sarah Beeny and her husband (and their four kids) as they build their ginormous new house in Somerset.

The house looks like a Lego version of a Georgian country pile. It's naff looking I'm being honest. (yes I can say that. no it isn't a very mean thing to say). The kind of house a Russian oligarch who fancied being an English country gent two weekends a year might have built.

I think we're supposed to worry along with them as to whether their Lego mansion runs over budget and doesn't get finished on time.

Their dog Maple is gorgeous though. No grumbles about Maple.

Before I'm told, yes I know I didn't have to watch and no, I won't be tuning in next week.

Yes, definitely not a fan of the Lego mansion! And those 3D printed busts. 😬

Oh, I would have thought she would have built a nicer looking house. Maybe it will be better when there is some landscaping round it? Looks like a car park at the moment.

How the fuck did they get permission for that?! I thought houses on that scale have to have some architectural merit?

I don't mind the house I just don't know why they tacked 2 sheds either side of it.

Thought the hall was really dull looking as well.

Didn’t watch it, just going on the picture here. The big garage (?) building next to it rather ruins the whole profile of the house.

We went to a gorgeous English castle a few years ago, and I've always really loved it from the outside..... but we made the mistake of doing a guided tour. At that point, we discovered that it had American owners and it was horrific inside....... like a Disney version of a Princess castle. We were aghast and the poor tour guide had obviously seen lots of reactions like it.

That's what this house reminds me of............

Sarah did keep making jokes about how ostentatious it clearly is, but I feel there is zero irony where her husband is concerned.

The last series was far more natural, whereas the children seemed a lot more staged this time, which is a shame.

It will be the usual 'running out of money' story but everything all right jn the end.

I didn’t like it, too big and ostentatious. I preferred the 1970s farmhouse they are staying in! And how in earth is she going to clean it?? 😱
Her kids are amazing though, big credit to her and her Dh. Wish my ds spoke as nicely as they do!

I quite like the way they take the piss out of themselves but I’ll wait until it’s finished it’s difficult to say at the moment.

Haven't seen the programme but by the photo provided I hate it. It just looks cheap...and wrong.

What happened to the big country house she had before? I haven’t watched it but I will now!

Haven't seen yet but following. I watched some of the first series. The house does look like a bit a Lego Georgian mansion but I love Sarah Beeney.

It looks like some kind of prefabricated dolls house. Simultaneously cheap, hideous & soulless. I won't be watching as I find her very smug & annoying.

Said the same thing last night. I'm not a fan of sticking "period features" like mouldings or columns in a new house to make it look old.

I prefer the one she did up years ago ...I'm Yorkshire I think called Rise Hall ....what happened to that I wonder ?

It's not beautiful but maybe it will soften a bit as the bricks age and there's some landscaping around it...
