Do the production company think we're all stupid? Dick and Angel haven't just suddenly found that wall is a stud wall fgs! Clearly a total set up.

DidgeDoolittle · 14/11/2021 20:23

It's all getting a bit boring and contrived now.

WeAreTheHeroes · 14/11/2021 20:30

Interesting that the DIY spin off doesn't feature D&A this series, due to Covid probably. I actually think it's better for it and really interesting to see what the other chateaux owners are doing.

What has happened to Angels face?

She looks very different.

Treaclepiepastry · 14/11/2021 22:07

It did look like they’d put that in…

I really love their home and her aesthetic, it’s all so charming, then i flip flop into feeling annoyed by it. Jealous I expect.

spotcheck · 14/11/2021 22:13

You can't tell me that they honestly belly laugh every time one of their children says something remotely amusing. That irks me

ssd · 14/11/2021 22:15

The kids bedroom done up was amazing.

Treaclepiepastry · 14/11/2021 22:15

They’re children do have a lovely childhood.

Rebornagain · 14/11/2021 22:25

I can't take to Ange , there is something about her me

Anordinarymum · 14/11/2021 22:30

I used to watch it in the beginning but now it leaves me cold as it is obvious they are not on a budget and never were. They don't do the work. Maybe they did when it first started but it has kind of run it's course now.
On the other programme where they help other chateau owners you get the feeling they are not quite as nice as they would like us to think they are.

WeeTattieBogle · 14/11/2021 23:42

If they are so busy why are they overweight?

Or are they really just

doing shots for the camera and eating and not keeping very active/busy at other times.

It’s very confusing.

But I agree that the family bedroom suite was lovely n

TheSpottedZebra · 14/11/2021 23:53

God, I used to LOVE this programme but it's gone on too long now. It is all utterly contrived. I think there was a schism in the programmes too, as it is now different production companies doing the DIY show and Dick and Angel now have no involvement with that.

I thought it was interesting that they have a massive chateau but they're basically living in a smallish apartment within. So small that the kids share not only a room, but they both sleep on the top bunk /'mezzanine'. And was that a 3rd kitchen within their apartment? I guess in a way that means that the rest of the chateau is work, and for guests.

TheSpottedZebra · 14/11/2021 23:56

I'm also annoyed at how they're shoe-horning their plump children into being D&A V2. The girl mimsies around in a headscarf and kimono and we hear how tidy she is, and Arthur is pictured in a shed and they talk about him liking cooking.

WeeTattieBogle · 15/11/2021 00:03

@TheSpottedZebra

I noticed that as well. It was very obvious. Even down to daddy reading the son a bedtime story and mummy reading one to the little girl.

maofteens · 15/11/2021 00:21

@WeeTattieBogle what? How is that confusing? Dick loves to cook and I know lots of overweight people who are very active. My builder for example never sits down has a very physical job but loves his food and beer.
And is it surprising the kids take after their parents? Mine do, and there's only me (widow) but nature wins out and my son is just like his dad and my daughter is similar to me.
You all sound jealous of two people living their dream and managing to monetise it.

WeAreTheHeroes · 15/11/2021 07:25

Over 90% of weightloss is down to diet and bog all to do with activity levels. They've experienced lockdown and a loss of business too. There's no need for personal attacks on two people you don't know.

It does feel contrived now in a way it didn't before but they need something to have an income stream when they've gone from being fully booked for more than two years to having to cancel everything.

They haven't mentioned how the re-roofing is being funded - that's going to be a hellishly expensive job.

MyOtherProfile · 15/11/2021 07:29

I had to stop watching because I stopped believing D and A, and I couldn't bear the cutesie way they speak to their children.

girafferafferaffe · 15/11/2021 07:35

I did used to love them but I just find them a bit unbelievable now.

Fispi · 15/11/2021 07:44

I'm behind on this series but I love it. I really love Angels interior designs. TV is always a bit of make believe but I don't mind that as I enjoy the programme.

Treaclepiepastry · 15/11/2021 17:48

I’m hoping they do a dreamy Christmas one though.

TheSpottedZebra · 15/11/2021 19:15

I'm envious of their walled garden, that is lovely.

dayswithaY · 15/11/2021 20:41

I still love Angel's designs but that children's bedroom/mezzanine thing was a horrible, claustrophobic, wooden nightmare. Like being trapped in a cage.

And why are the children still sharing a room? What happens when they are teenagers?

Treaclepiepastry · 15/11/2021 21:13

I agree that the wooden mezzanine wasn’t ideal. It felt weirdly cramped.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 15/11/2021 21:37

Ach I still love it and I’d be over there like a shot if circumstances allowed.

In a previous life bit I knew a couple who were like this. They absolutely adored eachother and it was lovely to see. They spoke to one another with such love. Even when they weren’t agreeing.

And I would like a bit of that. and their garden, grounds and potting shed

SwedishEdith · 15/11/2021 21:46

I wondered why the kids were still sharing. Is it because a lot of rooms are still unrenovated (but surely you'd do the kids' rooms first?) or do they like sharing because the house is so big so feels a bit scary? I imagine it's because they're maximising the number of rooms they can charge for atm.

TheSpottedZebra · 15/11/2021 23:13

I don't think they speak to each other with love particularly (anymore?).
He always seems so bossy to her, like she is his underling.
