Do the production company think we're all stupid? Dick and Angel haven't just suddenly found that wall is a stud wall fgs! Clearly a total set up.

@SwedishEdith

I wondered why the kids were still sharing. Is it because a lot of rooms are still unrenovated (but surely you'd do the kids' rooms first?) or do they like sharing because the house is so big so feels a bit scary? I imagine it's because they're maximising the number of rooms they can charge for atm.
I presume they've created a family self- contained apartment, but the rest is rentable.
MrsMoastyToasty · 15/11/2021 23:17

I can't get over the fact that they live in a 45 room chateau while the parents are consigned to a converted shed .

Simonjt · 15/11/2021 23:20

We used to watch it, but they just appear more and more sexist with the little girl in stupid clothes she can’t play in and only being given ‘girly’ things, while their son is appropriately dressed and seems to be able to do whatever he wants, plus the little boy is becoming even more obese, poor kid.

They do, the son is even kitted out in linentunic topslike his father whereas whereas girl had a whole wardrobe of kimono. Yet the clothes they were chucking out were all tshirts with slogans and logos. Hmm...

Tbh I think I'm hate watching it now Blush
I do love a binge of Chateau DIY though, I like some of the other chateau owners!

spotcheck · 16/11/2021 07:00

Aw, come on. The personal attacks on the kids are uncalled for.

Essexmum321 · 16/11/2021 07:11

Lots of the chateau DIY owners have YouTube channels where you see more

kikipie · 16/11/2021 07:12

I have never understood the appeal of this programme. It’s always been false, right at the beginning I watched one episode, oh they’re down to their last euro, but they’re having a new heating system installed 🤔. Aye right! It’s a load of bollocks

And isn’t her name Angela?

TeeTotaller1 · 16/11/2021 07:13

Totally agree
WeAreTheHeroes · 16/11/2021 07:17

Yes it is, Angel is the persona she created for her vintage tearoom business.

Her parents are hardly living in a "shed" - it's huge. I'm not sure they live there full time with D&A.

I too hated the mezzanine bedroom thing - what that room really needed was a bloody good clear out. My mum used to make me go through all my stuff at that age and give away toys I had stopped playing with.

There's an interesting YouTube channel by another chateau owner "doing it ourselves ". It's by Michael Petherick who is friends with chateau owner Stephanie and her french mother. It's a good channel but it also has an interesting episode where he explains in detail why he no longer participates in the diy series. Interesting info re Dick and Angela. Sorry can't link as on phone.
nordicnorth · 16/11/2021 10:13

Stephanie also has her own YouTube channel and blogs weekly. She's great!

Stephanie and her mother are hilarious.

Are you shattering my illusion didge? 😲

DidgeDoolittle

Give us the jist!

RobertsRadio · 16/11/2021 12:53

Ah I've just found this and wondered if anyone else thought it was odd that the kids are sharing a bedroom. With all those rooms and at their ages surely they should have their own bedrooms. Also Dick and Angel's bedroom and her walk in closet seemed very small for such a huge property. Even if a lot of the other rooms are for guests surely they could manage to have bigger rooms and more space for themselves, or what is the point in living in such a huge place?

The DC's bedroom looked so cluttered with all those toys it made me want to start throwing most of it in black bags.

They don't run it like a hotel. I think you can only stay if you get married.

I think it's because it's a suite and if one child was in a separate bedroom they'd be quite far away from everyone else.

MyOtherProfile · 16/11/2021 18:05

@DidgeDoolittle please tell us what he said!

Yoyoyo1 · 16/11/2021 18:27

What is the episode called?

Essexmum321 · 16/11/2021 19:03

The youtube episode that DidgeDooLittle refers to was taken down by MP, but the gist is he used to do some design work for D&A, in fact I think on her tea party book she credits him for the design cover, however when D&A used one of his designs in their homeware linens range which is widely sold MP felt that he still owned the design and so they made him sign the copyright over to them and I guess he felt they didn't pay him enough. Now D&A openly admit to working with a different designer and hinted in an email/newsletter to their fans that it was this other designer that does all their designs.

D&A were executive producers on Escape to The Chateau DIY and the Pethericks were dropped from the program when the fallout happened. But it wasn't just MP, his sister Sadie also worked for them doing admin/waitressing I think and she was also fired from working for them.

MP's youtube channel is called 'Doing it Ourselves' and Stephanie's is called The Chateau Diaries, both I think earn very nicely out of their youtube income and a patreon income.

WeAreTheHeroes · 16/11/2021 19:15

The kids have a separate playroom complete with helter skelter so it's not as if they couldn't each have a bedroom.

OP posts:
WeAreTheHeroes · 16/11/2021 19:19

I'm guessing he didn't negotiate hard enough then - the Facebook posts states they were dropped for lowering the tone so goodness knows what happens. I'm also guessing he was issued with something like a cease and desist letter and told to remove his YouTube video or face legal action.

OP posts:
starcocoon · 16/11/2021 19:23

I thought they said the kids still want to share a room with one another.

WeAreTheHeroes · 16/11/2021 19:24

Doesn't mean they really do!

OP posts:
Essexmum321 · 16/11/2021 19:24

Possibly yes - his brother also has a youtube channel called The Pethericks which shows a lot about their Chateau, Micheal has been renovating the Gardners Cottage, oh and their sister Sadie has made a few videos as well, some showing other members of the family who live there doing baking, furniture restoration that channel is called Sadie in France.
