I've watched it all @Etinoxaurus.

ButtonSister · 03/11/2021 16:41

Just watched final episode - one of the best dramas I've watched in ages.

Puffinhead · 03/11/2021 18:10

I’ve finished it too. Glad there’s this thread because I want to talk about it!

So did she do it??

I found it all very watchable but a bit hammy in places - all the shots and close-ups of the jury (and the head jurer) scribbling down notes were annoying.

I think Talitha was guilty and manipulated everyone around her - she also got her own back on her parents for their neglect. Don’t believe what she said about her mother’s participation in the abuse either. She was the consummate liar.

It wasn’t clear either if Hannah and Dhillon had consensual sex - they mentioned the date rape drug but then glossed over it.

I’m interested to hear what you all thought.

rosegoldwatcher · 03/11/2021 19:59

I watched it all in one day. (Guilty of sloth!)

It was very good IMO.

Yes - I think she did it too, but if so, why didn't Dhillon shout in protest when she was acquitted?

Aquarius1234 · 03/11/2021 21:30

Watched the last episode last night.
I also hated the close up shots of the jury esp the woman with short hair and glasses that gave the verdict.
Fair enough it was all about how it's the Jury that decide. But I thought it was overkill
Not sure if it was to make a point of how easy it can be to sway random members ot the public.
I also didnt like how they portrayed the jury as looking old fashioned and what not.
When it can be all types of people right?
But I loved the main characters and would have liked even more flashbacks of Talitha s past to see if she was lying about the abuse and also to see what happened after.

Randomuser9876 · 03/11/2021 22:23

I really enjoyed this... Liked both Talitha and cleo.

I don't think she did it as the bloke clearly guilty but it annoyed me how it left it ambiguous... We didn't know enough to say definitely

EdgeOfTheSky · 03/11/2021 23:12

Hmmm.
Dhillon said he was having oral sex with H, but his seamen was in her? Would H really have agreed to have sex with someone she complained was stalking her?

I think T was telling the truth about the abuse, and the solicitor her Dad wanted to replace Cleo with may well have been involved. Hence her vehemence that he not be involved.

Lots of interesting dynamics: the lefty liberal MP was the first to throw her friend (Venders) under the bus to protect her son….

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/11/2021 01:13

Just finished- it was brilliant!

EdgeOfTheSky · 04/11/2021 06:36

When T was leaving C’s office at the end, why the close up of her wrist to show she wasn’t wearing the bracelet?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/11/2021 07:01

I loved the element of doubt in that final scene when Talitha joked with Cleo (which made one think she had been involved).

icelollycraving · 04/11/2021 14:55

I thought it was good. Certainly better than any of the itv dramas of late.
I thought they would show what had actually happened, showing her to be the killer.
I loved Cleo’s whole look in this

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/11/2021 14:56

Oh I missed that!

I'm really glad they didn't spell it out,I love having to come to my own conclusion.
the80sweregreat · 05/11/2021 06:01

Watched three last night.
I love the young actors in this : nice to see some new talent on this and in the outlaws too.
It's intriguing and well acted : Cleo's clothes are to die for !
Everyone should have a Brian in their lives too.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 05/11/2021 09:03

I couldn't even tell you what Cleo wore in any scenes Grin

the80sweregreat · 05/11/2021 09:15

The lead actress looks like the singer Anne Marie !

WhyOhWine · 05/11/2021 11:33

My husband said this reminded him slightly of Meredith Kercher's murder (Talitha being the "Foxy Knoxy" equivalent).

Anyone else think that?

I thought the acting was great - and both Talitha and Cleo were great parts for a woman for once.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/11/2021 11:41

Although I've watched a programme about Amanda Knox recently with DD. She barely knew Meredith Kercher (I think they'd only been housemates for a couple of weeks). And I'm not sure she was the socialite that Talitha is.

Etinoxaurus · 05/11/2021 12:13

I thought the actors playing Talitha and Chloe were excellent. But I remember a TV reviewer resigning a good 10 years ago, saying she was bored of and found distasteful the trope of csa being pulled out in so many Tv dramas.

the80sweregreat · 05/11/2021 21:06

She ( Talitha ) said ' we fooled everyone !'
Did she make up the abuse?

Doodledoop · 06/11/2021 08:41

I really enjoyed how this was put together. The emphasis on building cases and defence narratives which is an angle you don't often see. And the way they avoided gloating over a young woman's dead body. I thought they treated Hannah really well and never lost sight of her as a person.

It drew me in enough to overlook some weak script and terrible acting points.

I don't think Talitha did it - I do think society has a lot of problems with people involved in crimes who don't play their parts properly. I found the 'we fooled them..' bit at the end to be one of those weak script points where they just wanted to throw in a twist. It just annoyed me and undermined the points I thought they were making on how press/police/ defence telling a story muddies the truth.

Etinoxaurus · 06/11/2021 08:55

@the80sweregreat

She ( Talitha ) said ' we fooled everyone !' Did she make up the abuse?
No, as @Doodledoop says it was a lazy script twist. Although it was consistent with Talitha’s refusal to be a victim. I thought Chloe’s ‘shocked silence’ reaction was fantastic. When T said #praying fir her, in reaction to T’s microagression about her niece’s name and at the end with the ‘fooled them’ comment.

I didn’t realise that final shot was about the bracelet - will have to freeze it on iPlayer and peer more closely!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 06/11/2021 13:49

What's the significance of the bracelet in the final shot?

the80sweregreat · 06/11/2021 16:38

As she walked into the office to see Cleo in the final episode, we are shown her wrist for a number of seconds minus the bracelet.
