I've struggled a bit recently to find things that take my interest. I keep trying comedies but think I must have lost my sense of humour or they're all just crap

I haven't watched a lot of the "big" series. Please recommend something that will keep me watching and make me want to watch just another episode, instead of going to bed. Or just something really really good!

I have Prime and Netflix.

On Netflix (if you haven't seen them)
Haunting of Hill House
You
Midnight Mass
Haunting of Bly Manor

All a bit heavy on the trauma. But I love them all. Grin

(Currently obsessed with the works of Mike Flannigan...)

The Chestnut Man ...really gripping

bert3400 · 20/10/2021 22:50

On Netflix

ImFree2doasiwant · 20/10/2021 22:56

I've seen the first series of You (one of the first things I watched) but thats all so far. Thanks, I will check them out.

American Rust (cannot binge watch as being drip fed.....), 5 episodes so far.

StrawberryFizz26 · 20/10/2021 22:57

Killing Eve in iplayer, which is free.
I'm very new to the party & am obsessed.

33goingon64 · 20/10/2021 22:59

Outlander!
Mad Men
Line of Duty
The White Lotus

Sherrystrull · 20/10/2021 22:59

I agree with The Chestnut Man. Really gripping.

RainforestLizard · 20/10/2021 23:07

The Americans

QuestionableMouse · 20/10/2021 23:53

Leverage - it's a bit older but it's fantastic and there's a new show coming out soon in the UK.

QuestionableMouse · 20/10/2021 23:54

Also Justified - again really good!

ImFree2doasiwant · 21/10/2021 00:19

I watched the first series of outlander but got
a bit bored with series 2 - I've read the books multiple times though from when they first were published so I think that ruined it for me

I haventvseen any of the other suggestions do plenty to go at thanks!

To add another - which is also being drip-fed (four episodes so far):
"Fires" - Australian production wth stand-alone stories from the bush fires last year; "Inspired by True Events" (not always sure about this when it was a real life tragedy.....).

Beautifully filmed and acted, and heartbreaking.

secretbookcase · 21/10/2021 22:30

I'm currently watching Succession which is brilliant but some strong language and very bad behaviour so you have to not mind that sort of thing.
Similarly Breaking Bad was genius I think
Also loved I May Destroy You - some very dark subject matter but brilliantly done.

secretbookcase · 21/10/2021 22:31

@Sherrystrull

I agree with The Chestnut Man. Really gripping.
Is it? I gave up after episode 1 as it all felt very familiar - usual cop drama. But will give it another go if it gets good.
puffylovett · 21/10/2021 22:59

I’ve binged the last few weeks on -
Maid
Black earth rising
National treasure
Black mirror
The chestnut man
On the verge

I’ve enjoyed all of them

secretbookcase · 21/10/2021 23:04

I agree Maid was brilliant

MMM2 · 21/10/2021 23:09

Another vote for Maid..netflix

BlueFlavour · 21/10/2021 23:18

I’m quite enjoying Angela Black on ITV.

caringcarer · 21/10/2021 23:21

Maid on Netflix
Departure on catch up
Vera on Netflix 10 series

WeeM · 21/10/2021 23:25

Following as I’m looking for inspiration too-feel I’ve hit a lull and can’t seem to find anything new that I really want to binge on.

Succession was really good.
Handmaids tale I loved but so grim.
Stranger Things.
Breaking Bad is one of my all time faves.
Ozark (not sure where I watched that now, may have been Sky)

waltzingparrot · 21/10/2021 23:31

Clickbait on Netflix. Just 6 episodes I think.

Strangevipers · 21/10/2021 23:36

Guilt

workshy44 · 21/10/2021 23:36

Where do you watch American rust?

geojellyfish · 21/10/2021 23:39

Money Heist on Netflix. It's Spanish so dubbed, but done very well. It's clever and satisfying, without ever feeling like it requires investment before it becomes enjoyable (like some critically acclaimed shows do).
